I recently saw some click bait that was asking if empathy was a spiritual gift. I would say it is a matter of definitions and translations. It is possible that you could fit empathy into the gift usually translated as mercy. Or you could go for the strict interpretation and say, “It isn’t mentioned.”
That is not the gift I am thinking of.
Sunday we were expressing gratitude and appreciation to the team of women who step in to make the kitchen work for special events. After pointing out that there were men helping too, the lady in charge said her main contribution was being bossy. I would normally consider that the gift of administration or leadership but why not go with a Living Bible definition. Is there a gift of bossy?
I always get irritated when some people talk about the gifts of the Spirit. I am talking about the ones who claim that certain gifts are no longer given. They don’t give any place where it says it clearly, they just infer until the disbelief starts lifting the roof.
Is bossy a gift? Why not. If we say it often enough someone will begin to believe it. We could even write a book on the subject and start a podcast. No? Denominations have been built on less.

Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship
This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.
Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
