Opus 2026-267: Texas Leadership

This past primary runoff day Texas bit a bullet for the country. We had a runoff between Ken Paxton and Senator John Cornyn.  The Talking Heads like to think that Cornyn had a chance but I’m glad to report that at least for this one time the citizens were paying attention.  Paxton won by over 20%.  Based on what I felt, I thought it was a forgone conclusion, but you never know who’s counting the ballots.

So now the media is moving on and trying to act like Paxton’s rival in the general election has a chance.  He probably has less a chance in the general population than Cornyn had with the Republican base.  The Democrat is a basket case.  The question is will Texans rest on their laurels and figure they’ve done enough or will they keep fighting to bring the country back to its roots.

Now that the primaries are over there’s really not much we can do to improve things.  In two more years when the elections come around we will have another chance to clean out some of the RINOs.  I’m hoping that even though Trump can’t run, he will be very vocal and who you will endorse.

I hope that we have an ongoing statement of don’t mess with Texas.  I would love to extend that to Don’t Mess with US.

Opus 2026-252: Headlines: Texas Hope

I saw a brief note this morning that Trump had finally made an endorsement in the Texas runoff race for the US Senate between Ken Paxton and John Cornyn.  It is about time.  Early voting started Monday.  He went with Paxton which was the MAGA choice.  

I have lived in Texas about nine years now.  Cornyn has been in the Senate that entire time and I have watched him Rino his way through every issue.  I don’t know that I would say he never did something right but I noticed a pattern of uniparty loyalty.  

Paxton is just the opposite.  I am sure he has made some decisions I would disagree with but I can’t remember what they were.  On the other hand he has been consistently on the side of liberty and rejection of federal heavy handedness.

I think that in the general election Paxton will have no trouble with the basket case the Democrats has nominated.  It will be a Republican replacing a Republican so the states on all the charts will not change but, oh what a difference it will make in how things move forward.  It will be like a reduction for the Democrats of one vote.  The senate might start putting America first again.  Is it too much to hope for?  

Keep the faith, pray without ceasing and make your voice be heard.

Opus 2026-188: Election 2026: Dream On

Have you heard the fantasy about California electing a Republican governor?  I have not looked up the details but what I hear is the top two vote getters in the Democrat designed open primary are Republicans.  The enthusiasm came from thinking the top two vote getters in the primary would be the final candidates.

Dream on if it makes your day better.

I talked to someone living in California who seemed to be a bit more alert.  He said that as we get closer the Democrats will close ranks, tell certain candidates to drop out and whittle it down to be in the final.  To that I added that we also need to take into consideration that the Democrats will be counting the ballots.

Today I saw that the scenario is already playing out.  It seems that Eric Swalwell of Fang Fang fame is being forced out with accusations of sexual impropriety.  Although I have no trouble believing the accusations, the post I read made it sound like the kind of testimony that was gathered against Donald Trump.  It will be managed by the media in such a way to get rid of an unwanted candidate.

So the process of politics continues.  I will continue to vote and speak out, not because I think it will change things but because it is my responsibility.  I will leave the final results up to God.  Maybe we will see the finger writing on the wall again.

Opus 2025-424: Election 2026: Elon Visionary

Did you ever stop to ask yourself if Elon Musk had the right idea but just went about it wrong?  I’m talking here regarding the click bait about him starting a new political party.  Was he just pulling a Trump troll?  Was he just seeing what kind of reactions he could get out of the media and the Trump haters?  Was he serious?

Like so many things he comes up with he is a couple steps ahead of everyone else.  Not being a political animal it’s possible that he was sincere, but didn’t realize it would not go far.  That doesn’t mean the idea is bad.  Keep in mind that the Federalist Party died out because it lost touch with the American people.  It was replaced by the Whig party.  That party died out for the same reason and was replaced by the Republicans.  The Republicans ran on the platform of free men, free land, and I believe free silver.  They got the first two.  They did away with slavery and they passed the Homestead act.

From the actions that we are seeing in the Republican Party it may be time to replace them.  It seems that the Republican Party is currently playing games in Congress to keep the president from appointing people during recess.  It seems like the Rinos are going overboard trying to block the things that we elected Trump to do.  It may be time for them to go.

I don’t see a Musk party, but I do see the possibilities of a MAGA party.  At the risk of sounding like I’ve turned my brain off and gone into socialist mode, I would say that the coming midterm elections should have only one litmus test for people who love this country.  That litmus test is “Do they support Donald Trump?”  I’m not calling for long-term, eternal, devotion to the Messiah of American politics.  I’m calling for an attempt to turn this country back towards an actual representative republic.  We need to get rid of the professionals and get people who love America and want to make it great.

We differ on different things.  I am not 100% supportive of everything Donald Trump wants to do.  I still think he spends too much.  I still remember that he pushed the vaccine at the beginning.  I could probably come up with other issues.  But he loves America and we need that.  I would suggest that this midterm be a MAGA event and that when we get to the next presidential election, we elect someone who is MAGA and possibly even start a MAGA party.

Radical change like this does not happen from the top down.  It starts by electing people to city councils, state offices, Congress, and anything else below the president.  When you have enough representation to show your serious, then you go for the big ticket.

Opus 2025-253: Election 2026: Always Important

We have an important moment in our political journey going on right now.  I am not referring to DOGE or any of the headlines.  I am focused on something that may well be sliding beneath your radar.  At least it is happening in Texas.  We have some voting going on but since it is all local candidates and offices people are not paying attention.

This could be the key to taking our country back.  In my area they had several city council seats and a school board position.  I don’t live in the city so I don’t qualify for those but I was able to vote on the school board.  My only regret is that I voted in almost total ignorance.

How do you make a decision when you have little information?

On the big stuff you should have a feel.  If you don’t now where your senators and representative stand then I would guess you are not paying attention.  In Texas we have two senators.  One most people know, Ted Cruz.  I generally feel like he takes the right stands.  The other is a piece of work.  His name is John Cornyn.  Why do I say he is a piece of work?  Recently there was a list of people who had received large “kickbacks” from Ukraine.  My senator was on the list.  Was the accusation true?  I don’t know but it fits with what I know about him.  He seems to be constantly on the wrong lists.  Come the next primary I already know I am not going to vote for the incumbent.

The biggest problem is judges.  You may have noticed that federal district judges are doing everything they can to advance the agenda of the Democrats.  We don’t vote on federal judges so all you can do is urge your senators and congressmen to get on the impeachment wagon.  In addition to that you can petition your elected officials to revise the laws governing the courts.  The Constitution gives Congress the power to set up the courts.  They can also change them.  Perhaps we could see legislation to reduce the supreme court to 5, 3 or even 1.  If the Democrats can pack the court we can certainly unpack it.

State judges are different.  In most states they stand for reelection.  In California I had to seek out on line resources to get insights on their character.  It was a task but could be done.  In Texas they run by party so at least in the general election you know there is a choice of the lesser evil.  The mid-terms are coming.  Find out how to be informed.  It isn’t always easy but it is important.

Opus 2025-144: Election: 2026

It’s never too early to start looking towards the next election.  I don’t know if we have national conventions of the parties during midterms, but I would suggest that we start advocating a plank that would be very popular with a significant part of the population.  That would be doing away with daylight savings time.

I’ve heard people talk about the reasons for daylight savings time.  I’ve never paid enough attention to have a real opinion on those reasons, but I don’t think they’re good enough to balance the down sides.  In reading one post on the matter, the renewal a few years back was proposed by a Democrat, which really pretty much tells me all I need to know.

People fall into three categories I understand.  There are some people that think it’s a great idea.  I’ve never met any of them but there are possibly also decent Democrats out there somewhere, note that is possibly not probably.  Then you have a good number who never think about it and don’t really have an opinion.  The final group, where I’m at, feel like it is nothing but a waste of time and a pain in the whatever.

Maybe we could stick DOGE on the issue.  It certainly concerns efficiency.

Opus 2025-093: Election 2026: Make a List, Check It Twice

We are in a very vital period on the journey of our Republic.  Two things are key right now and we need to make them work together.

First, we have an election coming and the real choices we will have an opportunity to make will not come in the general election but in the primaries.  When the choice is a (supposedly) rational Republican or a (definitly) delusional Democrat, it really isn’t a choice.  Often we can only hold our nose and hope.  In the primaries we might have a real choice.  Get ready to pay attention to the challengers.  Pay attention to what the current incumbent is doing.  It is still two years to the next election and many of them are still assuming you are not watching.  Watch.  Make a list.  If you are one of those people who always loses your list then find a blank wall to write on with a Sharpie.  Build a case for discussions with other voters.  Discuss.  We have two years to make a difference.

Second, this is a time when the Rinos come out of the word work.  President Trump was very open about what he wanted to do.  He is actively doing his part.  Many Rinos in both houses of congress and in the courts are doing everything they can to thwart him.  Watch who opposes his agenda.  At the federal court level there is little we can do but in many states the judges must stand for reelection.  Learn who must be primaried.  

Two years isn’t long unless you have given up smoking.

Opus 2025-090: Election 2026: Amendments

It is a real tragedy that we have no process for amending the Declaration of Independence.  We have a method for the Constitution but nothing for this other founding document.  I wish we could go back to Jefferson’s original.

What am I talking about?  I’m talking about how he substituted the “pursuit of happiness” for “property.”  Jefferson was on the right track.  Originally his phrase, as I understand it, was, “life, liberty and property.”  That takes into consideration that one of the great reasons people came to this country was because where they came from everything belong to the king.

This is the norm in history.  If you go back to ancient Egypt, Pharaoh owned all the land, except with the priests claimed.  I was reading on Sarah Hoyts blog recently about how her parents had a deed to the property.  It wasn’t a deed.  It was simply permission from the king to live on it and treat it as their own while he did not actually give up sovereignty over it.  This was normal.  Even if you were a great and powerful Lord, you exercised power over your lands by permission of the king.  If you fell out of favor, he could revoke his grant.  Common people had no hope of actually owning land.  This is just one of the many jewels in America’s crown and the Progressive* elites are trying to destroy it.

I understand in Europe things are getting so expensive that owning a home is a multi-generational project.  We are approaching that here.  The real problem though is not that property is expensive but such things as eminent domain or tax liens.  The government can tax us out of our property or can declare it has a higher use for your property and take it away.  We need to reestablish the importance of private property.

I checked my Communist Manifesto, and I remind you one of the big goals of Marxism, and our Progressive* elites, is to remove the security that property gives individuals and make us dependent upon the state even for place to live.

If we can’t amend the Declaration of Independence, then, perhaps we need an amendment added to the Constitution which guarantees us the right of property.  That might be a good plan for the next election.  Republican Platform Committee, are you listening?
