Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.

Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Opus 2026-110: New Commie Phrase

You know the old slogan, “From each according to his ability, to each according to his need.”  It is a very noble concept.  If it was talking about weeds in your yard it might be useful but people don’t tend to do their best or be content with just their needs on a regular basis.

They need to revise that to something like, “From each according to his mood, to each according to his desires.”  I will concede that there are a lot of hard working, disciplined young people out there.  My children are a delight and reason for hope but I also know there is a vast wasteland of woke that has an attitude of entitlement.  And they are not content with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.  They are not even willing to accept ground beef. They want Fleming’s or Ruth’s Chris with all the trimmings.  And they don’t feel they need to tip.  Peasants are meant to serve them.

I remember how the graffiti artists would always pick the cleanest book or wall to write on.  They did not want their art compromised by the doodles of the less talented.

We need a new phrase for free enterprise.  Perhaps something along the lines of, “From each as his best productivity and to each what they earn.”  A lot of people would be going hungry with that.  Of course, a lot of people have gone hungry with the commie slogan too.

Opus 2023-013: The Habit of Holocaust

How would we rank the Holocausts or attempts at genocide of history?

I am not thinking of the common movements of tribes and peoples who pushed weaker cultures off their land.  The group pushed off tends to move a bit and push another bunch off.  That has been going on around the world since God pushed Adam and Eve out of the Garden of Eden.  I am talking about the organized, systematic annihilation of a weaker group by the dominant culture.

Most people who know which end of straw to drink out of have heard of the Jewish Holocaust.  They may be deniers.  They may have been in the cheering section.  They still know about it.  If we were going to rank these tragedies the Jewish Holocaust is mainly useful in setting a standard for the others since it is the best known.

The Noble Savages of North America were participants.  The Iroquois destroyed at least eight other tribes in their area.  I think it is possible that the Cherokee ended up in Georgia to escape the depredations of their indigenous brothers.  Then came the Trail of Tears.  Some groups face repeated problems but it is not genocide.

We have the Armenian holocaust of the early 20th century.  According to the Turks who did the honors, it didn’t happen, or, if pushed, will say it wasn’t as bad as portrayed.  I think the methodical murder of over a million people qualifies as more than just a misunderstanding.

When you think of mass murder don’t leave the Communist party out.  Which one?  It doesn’t really matter.  It could be the kulaks of Ukraine, the peasants of China or the middle class in Cambodia.  Dead is dead.  In shear numbers the Communist version of socialism dwarfs the efforts of the Nazi version.  Both tried hard.  If you show up on their radar at the wrong time it is the end of the road.

The October 7 slaughter is fresh in our minds.  Compared to other atrocities in history the numbers are a bit small.  It comes into this discussion only because it is one step in the historic jihad holocaust.  If you go back in history this has been a 1400 year effort to eradicate the Jews.  We ignore it at our peril because it isn’t really just the Jews.  Everyone who is not a Muslim is on their list.

How many other holocaust can we think about if we range through history?  My guess is that the list would be long and most we would not even know about because the receiving group of genocide does not write the history books.

Stay alert and pay attention.

Opus 2022-286: Headlines: Surprise Party Parting

By now I am sure you have seen a clip about Xi having his predecessor hauled out of the Chinese Communist Party convention.  I keep reading all the voices shocked that he would do such a thing.  To be honest I am not shocked or surprised.  It is the Marxist Model at work.

Read the definitive literature about how communism works.  Read 1984.  Read The Gulag Archipelago.  Arresting, jailing and executing is just another day in the Party to these loyal appratchiks.  This is what all those American socialists have in store for them.  The only question is will it be public like this one, clandestine like Trotsky or totally quiet like it has been for millions.  What was amazing to me were the number who went to their graves happy that they could serve the Party this way.  It won’t make me happy when I am led away to the American Gulag but at least it will give me company.

Remember that the left eats its own.  Today’s socialist hero is tomorrow’s lunch.  We wait to hear if the world has been made a better place.

Choices, like elections, have consequences.

Opus 2022-243: Communist Style Future Planning

Did the millions who were killed in the Communist butchery strength or weaken modern Russia?  The twentieth century was the Socialist Death Era.  Between the National Socialists and the International Communist they set records in sociopathic killing that we can hope are never surpassed.  My thinking is focused on the Soviet Union because I just finished the second volume of The Gulag Archipelago.  It is a brutal reminder of the history that our current leaders would rather we not dwell on.

On the weakness side you need to take into consideration that the first targets were the best and the brightest.  The Russian Revolution was the product of the intellectuals working toward a perfect world in which they were in charge.  They didn’t know that the first step in achieving Utopia is to kill off all the creators.  So the first wave of people brutalized and murdered in the Soviet prison camps were the college professors, engineers, scientists, doctors and anyone else who had shown they had a creative bent.  In many of the cases it could not have happened to a more deserving bunch.  As time went on they kept weeding out people who had initiative and spoke up with an idea that went against the grain of the political officers.

How much did the Communists lower the average IQ of the Soviet Union with their killing?

On the strength side you must understand the masses of compliant, non-resistant sheep that were slaughtered.  When they ran out of college professors and top-notch students they went for what was left over.  They had quotas to meet and if you were in the wrong place at the wrong time you found yourself on the way to a work gang.  The work often involved working in Arctic conditions with no coat and broken down shoes.  You also were starved.

Which will have the greatest influence in the long run?
