Opus 2026-252: Headlines: Texas Hope

I saw a brief note this morning that Trump had finally made an endorsement in the Texas runoff race for the US Senate between Ken Paxton and John Cornyn.  It is about time.  Early voting started Monday.  He went with Paxton which was the MAGA choice.  

I have lived in Texas about nine years now.  Cornyn has been in the Senate that entire time and I have watched him Rino his way through every issue.  I don’t know that I would say he never did something right but I noticed a pattern of uniparty loyalty.  

Paxton is just the opposite.  I am sure he has made some decisions I would disagree with but I can’t remember what they were.  On the other hand he has been consistently on the side of liberty and rejection of federal heavy handedness.

I think that in the general election Paxton will have no trouble with the basket case the Democrats has nominated.  It will be a Republican replacing a Republican so the states on all the charts will not change but, oh what a difference it will make in how things move forward.  It will be like a reduction for the Democrats of one vote.  The senate might start putting America first again.  Is it too much to hope for?  

Keep the faith, pray without ceasing and make your voice be heard.

Opus 2026-225: Wake-Up Call

I am wondering if the latest attempt to murder President Trump will backfire of the hate mongering elites.  In the different bits I read I noticed several things and put them together in my head.

All of the media types in attendance dived under the tables very quickly when they heard shots. It would have done my heart good to see it.  It probably occurred to a few of them that they might be in the way of a random bullet which they would have cheered on if it were heading for the president.  They realized that they are not immune to the wild men of the left.  What is ironic is that if the Marxists take over then these same liberal reports will be some of the first stood against the wall.

Then I heard that the whole room cheered when they realized the president was okay.  I take that with a little grain of salt and know that some cheered because they did not want to be picked out.

Did you notice the similarities between this shooter and the guys that flew the planes into the buildings in NY?  All were well educated.  All were well trained.  They came from good families.  They went in knowing it would not turn out well for them.

I wonder if some of these antics will be enough to get Joe Average to start thinking. I won’t buy any stock in it but I can dream, can’t I.

Opus 2026-210: No Justice in the World

All eyes are currently focused on Iran. The cry of “Death to Israel” is heard echoing from the Muslim world. I find this a bit ironic based on a recent Bible study.

We were in Jeremiah at one of the places where it talks about the return from captivity. I was looking to see who authorized their return and it came up as Cyrus.

Ezra 1:1-2 (KJV) 1 Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying, 2 Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, The LORD God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he hath charged me to build him an house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah.

If that isn’t clear enough for you

If it were not so serious I would laugh at the attempts of Iran to destroy the Jews. Iran is Persia. They are the ones responsible for the survival of Israel. Now they want to destroy it. Of course you could follow the line of thought that it is Arabs in control of Persian Iran that are the problem.

Opus 2026-153: Headlines: Farewell to Jesse

I did not pay any attention to the funeral for Jesse Jackson.  From what click bait I could see it turned into the circus I would have expected.  Funerals are usually times of sugar coating and hyperbole anyway and when you have a poster child for the left it could only be worse.

I would like to point out the similarities that Jackson had with another historic figure, Benedict Arnold.  What they had in common was that early in their careers they started off very well.  Arnold was the key figure in the Battle of Saratoga which kept the American army alive early in the Revolution.  A political general stole all the credit and it started Arnold down the road to becoming a figure equal to Judas.  

Jackson, in a similar way, started out as a noble figure.  He was on the road to becoming a key to freeing American blacks from the plantation.  He had a lot of good ideas and was implementing them.  In one book I am reading, written about that time, Jackson was lumped with dynamic thinkers like Thomas Sowell and Walter Williams.  At the time it was deserved.  People forget that part of his life because he went so far south later.  I don’t know where he went wrong but I think he got a taste of power and money which had him make a deal with the devil.

I understand that there is a statute to Benedict Arnold but it only has a leg.  That is because he was shot in the leg at the Battle of Saratoga and Americans want to remember that part of his life.  I am not sure what kind of legacy we could post for Jackson.  I would suggest a rainbow because that was in the name of his early organization but the rainbow has been hijacked by other groups since.

I salute him for his early contributions and hold him up as an object lesson for corruption in his later life.  Let him be a warning.

Opus 2026-113: Headlines: Conflict of Interest

The recent headlines coming out of New York proclaim the Muslim population is trying to ban dogs from Central Park.  We come to an interesting conflict of special interest groups.  On the one side, you have the Muslims with their attitude towards dogs.  On the other side, you have people with various emotional problems, but have service animals.  Now I don’t know all the details about the Muslims in New York, but it’s a classic example of the way in which the Muslims when they get to a certain percentage of the population, began demanding that everybody else adapt to their way of life.  Expect it in a city near you if this continues.

This demonstrates the way in which Islam lives out totalitarian government at work.  In a totalitarian government, you expect everyone to conform to what the elite declare because it’s good for the whole. The individual is submerged in the good of the whole.  Your personal opinion is only as important as the power you possess to force it on others.

Will guide dogs and emotional support animals survive?  Not if sharia law has its way.

Opus 2026-072: Headlines: The Big Flip

One of the recent headlines has been about how the government agencies have redrawn the nutrition pyramid.  There’s a lot of talk about how it has been inverted.  I watched one “Doctor” on the Internet until he got to his commercial, and he was excited about the fact that grains and carbohydrates have been taken from the position of king and foundation to a fringe group.  He had a lot to say about how destructive carbohydrates are and so forth.

While I will accept the fact that we eat too many carbohydrates it is not a problem of the carbs themselves as much as it is our lack of discipline and moderation.  One reason people eat a lot of carbs is that they are less expensive than the other things on the chart such as red meat and fresh vegetables.  I sometimes wonder if the people telling us how wonderful this will be have ever actually gone to a grocery store or had to balance a budget.  Pasta is cheap.  Porterhouse is expensive.

Another reason that I am not jumping on this bandwagon is because of a point that was made years ago in a book called The Weigh Down Diet.  The author pointed out that God had designed our bodies and designed hunger and appetite as a way of the bodies knowing what they should take in.  Her point was to eat what you craved, but do it in moderation.  Unfortunately, most of us don’t have the kind of discipline necessary to do that, but the principle of God building in a craving for certain foods resounded with me.

I’m not ready to reject carbohydrates as being the major problem in diabetes, and, according to the good doctor, all major illness.  My reason is theological.  I can give you a reason from the Bible in both the Old Testament and the New Testament.  For instance,

(Mat 6:11 KJV)  Give us this day our daily bread.

This is a clear statement about bread.  I’ve seen other click bait on YouTube about how the bread they ate in those days was different than the bread we eat today.  That’s probably true.  The answer is not to throw out bread, but possibly to stop putting pesticides on the grain.  I’m not ready to reject what is a staple across almost all cultures just because the FDA decided to revise the food pyramid.  I am not ready to reduce the population of the world in order to give everyone the amount of fresh vegetables and fruits needed to follow the fruits and nuts.

I have been tracking certain things in nutrition for years.  Bread, and starches like potatoes, contain fiber, protein, and a bit of fat as well as carbohydrates.  Government agencies have a tendency to take extreme stands.  They tend to throw the baby out with a bath water.  While their advice is something to be considered, each of us needs to be our own advocate and walk our own path.

Opus 2025-400: Headlines: Photos and Trader Joe’s

I was a bit amused at seeing the Clickbait saying that Melania Trump was being considered for a photo shoot by Vanity Fair.  I thought it was worth the five minutes that it would take, so I clicked.

First of all, I thought it was hilarious that the staff of Vanity Fair were threatening a walkout if this actually happened. The report said half of them would quit if this became reality.  OK.  I would suggest if I were Melania that I would do the photo shoot just to get them to leave.  It would be great to get half of them fired or quit.  It might be worth the time.  But since liberals tend to have a hard time with truth, my guess is that they would not quit, just like most of the celebrities did not go to Canada when Trump was elected. 

The second thing that stood out to me was the statement that they would rather bag groceries at Trader Joe’s than work at a magazine that would put the first lady on the cover.  First of all, can you say the word arrogance?  These people think they are so good that meaningful work in a grocery store is a terrible contrast.  They would be willing to step down into the gutter of life and actually do a job that peasants take.  True nobility.  Secondly I doubt if they could get a job at Trader Joe’s.  My guess is that jobs at Trader Joe’s are sought after and that they have a wide range of people to pick from.  I doubt if they would be interested in some privileged Prima donna who had worked for a meaningless magazine.

Of course, I could be totally wrong on all of this.  I was encouraged though when the report was that Melania just laughed at the prospect and said she was too busy to consider it.

What a country. What a first lady.  What a presidency. Pass the popcorn.

Opus 2025-385: Headlines: Maximum Wage

The headline said some thing about NBA guards getting paid $38 million a year.  I didn’t bother looking to see what it was about.  I don’t watch professional sports.  At this point I don’t watch sports at all.  I have a life.

All I can say is more power to you.  If in the system of free enterprise the National Basketball Association teams can you forward to pay those kind of salaries and still stay solvent then go for it.  The only thing that would disturb me is if I heard that they were getting a government subsidy through USAID or some other rip off.  If there are enough sports junkies in this country to buy the products from the advertisers who pay the teams to employ these athletes then I salute them.  I have no envy.  My bills are paid, I have food in the pantry and more important, my children have turned out well.  I wish them the same sense of joy and purpose that I have.  I have a feeling it won’t depend on the number of zeros in your paycheck.

That doesn’t mean I will buy what they advertise but I would not know since I don’t watch.

Opus 2025-257: Headlines: This time it’s different

One of the recent headlines tells us that President Trump is going to write an executive order to decrease the price of prescription drugs dramatically.  Everyone cheers.  Everyone claps each other on the back.  Everyone forgets what happens when the government tries to control prices.

I think of Nixon and the price of gas.  There was never a real shortage but his clumsy attempts to control the market caused long lines and stations with no gas.  It was horrible and is the standard response to elites who know more than the free market.  Extreme inflation, hoarding, black markets and shortages are the result.

Why do we think it will be any different this time?  Is it because we are special?  I don’t think the laws of economics care about how wonderful you are.  Remember that the price of eggs went down because the government got out of the way not because Trump is a better egg layer.

Opus 2024-421: Headlines: Trend or Outlier

By now I am sure you have seen the news item about a health insurance CEO, Brian Thompson, being gunned down in the early morning on the streets of New York.  The investigation continues.

The same thing is true about this that is true about so much that is reported in the media:  You can’t believe you are getting the facts or that the news agencies are asking the right questions.

Keep in mind that this took place in New York where you can’t even change flights in the airport if you have a firearm in your luggage.  It is one of the most heavily regulated, anti-gun forums in the world.  In spite of all that someone murdered another citizen in public on a main street.  The number of laws broken are longer than Santa’s list of naughty.  More laws will not take care of the problem.

What was this about?  Is this the beginning of vigilante justice, the elimination of someone who might have something to say about the Epstein list, a man in dept to the mob or just a psychopath out for some fun?  I am not sure we will know much more if it is the later suggestions.  If it is the beginning of a vigilante movement time will supply a string of similar instances.

Why bring up vigilante justice?  Different voices contribute their opinions on this.  Evidently the insurance group he worked for was well known for denying claims.  That means, if true, that there are multitudes of families in our country who have faced the specter of bankruptcy or death.  If I had a dermatologist exam denied, I could afford to pay for it.  If I need a major cancer surgery then not so much.  How valid are the supposed denials of claims?  I don’t have any idea.  We pay extra for supplemental insurance and so far it has worked well.  Others complain who did not invest in the extra level of protection.  I expect the day will come when it doesn’t work for us.  Will I go out and shoot a CEO over it?  I doubt it.

I am not everyone and the situations where people feel hopeless are bigger than insurance problems.  We have watched the legal system in our country turned into a weapon against anyone with traditional values.  We have watched the IRS deny claims to conservative groups.  We have watched obvious criminals released with little or no bail and we had a presidential candidate who was actively raising money for those who had to pay.  I am not talking about terrible crimes like walking calmly into the capital on January 6 and being gunned down through a closed door.  I am talking about looting, arson, assault and general mayhem.

People see all this.  So far, as conservatives who believe in the rule of law, we have calmed down and waited for the system to work.  What happens when the mass of Americans become convinced that the system will never work?

The incident in New York may be an indication.  Or it may have just been a liberal who forgot to take his meds.

Opus 2024-382: Headlines: Cute

Some headlines don’t even raise my eyebrows let alone ruffle my feathers.  The announcement that woke women are going to shave their heads, wear blue bracelets and refrain from sex and having children does not even register on my SHTF meter.  It might even include woke men.  I can’t tell from the photographs that are displayed unsolicited on my screen.  Does this mean that Joe Rogan will have to let his hair grow?

This dynamic statement will make no change in my life.  Even in my bachelor days I would not have been interested in the kind of women who would shave their head because someone in favor of aborting babies did not win an election.  I can say without qualification that I would never have hung around their watering holes be they sleazy bars or swanky parties.  I did my mate locating roving at prayer meetings and Sunday school.

I pledge to attempt to prevent my grandchildren from pointing and laughing if they ever see one of these creatures.  I will attempt it at least once but then I might start pointing and laughing also.

What a world we live in.  I salute their freedom to cut their hair any way they want and wear their choice in jewelry.  I don’t expect them to return the favor because being woke does not work that way.

Opus 2024-334: Headlines: A Crack in the Fake

We hear a lot of noise about the vaccines that were pushed on the population and many of the noises are saying that the vaccines were dangerous.  The voices of the elites don’t even want to acknowledge that such theories are worth considering.  Here at last is a source that backs the claims.  It is found at a news site called Granite Grok.

The source is a British government site and it specifically says that unvaccinated children have not developed any myocarditis.  Maybe I read it wrong, so, as they say, read the whole thing.

Opus 2024-331: Headlines: Just Look

One of the “Look at me” themes I am seeing lately on the Internet expounds about Kamala Harris and plagiarism.  Today I saw a Clickbait headline about information she had in her books being lifted straight from Wikipedia.  This would not be hard to verify.  All you have to do is look.

A regular tool when I was teaching middle school was Google search.  I required a serious project:  Write a term paper.  I didn’t just dump them in, sink or swim.  We went through note taking, outlining, bibliographies, and everything else necessary to write a good paper.  When it was time to evaluate the results if I saw something suspicious all I had to do was type short selection into the search engine, hit return and see what came up.  I would have been embaraced but they didn’t blink.  Often they didn’t even delete the hypertext, and sometimes even printed the addresses at the bottom of the page.  Another clue would be two paragraphs that had nothing to do with each other, kind of an early “word salad.”

It was easy to do.  All you had to do was look.  Of course, the hard part was in the head of the reader.  You had to be bright enough to realize that what you were reading could not have been written by an eighth grader.  You had to recognize hypertext as hypertext.  You had to recognize the fact that internet addresses at the bottom and the top actually came from sources not located in the head of the eighth grader.

I had kids come up for my inquisition.  I would show them the actual page on my computer screen and they would look at it and still claimed that they wrote the material.  I wasn’t training future Democrats, I was dealing with eighth grade Democrats.

Don’t blame Kamala too much.  Somewhere there is an eigth grade public school teacher who let her slide.  Somewhere there is an editor that continued the tradition.  We are getting close to the time when the American people, assuming they actually count the votes, are going to decide what kind of government they deserve.

Opus 2024-295: Headlines: The Left Eats Its Own

I noticed that the Mayor of New York, Eric Adams, has been indicted.  The list of accusations include different aspect of bribery and money laundering.  Two thoughts,

Keep in mind that those of us who believe in the rule of law still believe that a man is innocent until proven guilty.  Even though I have no reason to think that Adams is on the side of the angels, who ever heard of a Democrat angel, he still deserves the benefits of the Bill of Rights.  At least they are accusing him of real crimes instead of fake crimes like they threw at Trump.

Second, I wonder what he did wrong that turned the weaponized justice department against him.  Did he come out as reasonable on one of their schemas?  Did he threaten to take a stand against the country controlling cabal?  Surely he must have gone against the deep state somewhere.

Even if he is guilty of the accusations they seem mild compared to what the rest of the elite seem to be getting away with.  It is certainly small potatoes to what the Bidens have done.  It could just be that the left needs to eat its own and he is on the bottom of the food chain.  While they reel him in they might not have time for you.

Opus 2024-260: Headlines: The Horn of Africa

One of the sites I check to hear what is happening in the world is called The Wire.  I subscribed on You Tube.  It gives a daily update that lasts from 2 to 8 minutes.  It often covers things that are downplayed by the other news sources.

This morning he touched on the rising tension between Ethiopia and Somalia.  It seems Egypt has sent troops to Somalia for “war games” and Ethiopia is reinforcing their border.  I’m hearing all kinds of reasons and rationales.  What I’m not hearing is the possible religious difference.

Somalia is Muslim.  Ethiopia, at least historically, has been Christian.  I realize that religion is not the only source of conflict in Africa but it seems like it might be one of the elements.

I did a quick scan of other news clickbait sites and could find no mention of the conflict.

Opus 2024-242: Headlines: Hidden Indicators

One of the most encouraging articles I have read recently was on the Daily Wire.  The presented topic was Zuckerberg saying that the Biden administration had pressured him to censor content on his plateforms.  The nonsense factor was his claim that he did not cave in.  All that is interesting but at least partially Fake News.  What I found interesting was this quote from the letter he wrote,

“I believe the government pressure was wrong, and I regret that we were not more outspoken about it,” he continued. “I also think we made some choices that. with the benefit of hindsight and new information, we wouldn’t make today. Like I said to our teams at the time, I feel strongly that we should not compromise our content standards due to pressure from any Administration in either direction — and we’re ready to push back if something like this happens again.”

Why did I find this worthy of note?  Notice the bit, “we should not compromise our content standards due to pressure from any Administration in either direction.”   This is the kind of statement that he would make to justify telling the Trump Administration to go jump in a lake.  He would not be saying this if he felt like the Democrats were going to be able to steal the election again.  It would be business as usual.

It did not really bother him when he “compromised” content to oppose Trump.  He wants to sound like he is on the side of the angels when he refuses to go the other way.

Maybe I am looking for a silver lining.  Maybe I am in Fantasyland.  Maybe not.

Opus 2024-232: Headlines: RFK to Show

One of the current bits of Clickbait has to do with RFK Junior being willing to endorse Trump in trade for a seat on his cabinet.  I have mixed feelings.  On the one side except for one issue, RFK is a total mindless liberal.  He pretty much works lockstep on everything except that one issue.

That one issue is important.  That one issue is the vaccines and our medical industry.  He seems to have his head on straight for this.  If Trump puts him in a position where he can reign in the CDC and the other medical alphabet agencies then he is the man for the job.

Trump also needs to realize that he can’t listen to the man on anything else.  I’m not sure Trump is able to do that, but we will see.

It may be a non-issue, pure click-bait.

Opus 2024-227: Headlines: The Right Sources

The clickbait in the Daily Wire that caught my attention claimed that 100,000 Anti-Israel protestors were going to show up for the Democratic convention.  The first couple of thoughts that crossed my mind were that it was going to cost someone a lot of money because I believe most of these people are being paid to show up and that this would help the unemployment figures for the Biden administration.  They could claim 100,000 new jobs created using their own clickbait.

As I began to slide through the article the first thing I noticed was that the first sentence reduced 100,000 to “tens of thousands”.  I passed my math class.  I know that “tens of thousands” could become 100,000.  I also know hype when I see it.  Although it was from a conservative source this did not bode well for the rest of the post.  As I read on I noticed that the Daily Wire reporting seemed to accept the numbers of the leftist spokeman.

Why can’t we get clear and direct reporting?

Opus 2024-031: Headlines: Futile Necessity

Mayorkas has been impeached.  It is being called meaningless.  Among the comments is that he is just a scapegoat, it is just partisan politics, the Senate will never follow through, the Republicans are just blowing smoke.  All these observations are true but it is still important that it happened.  He was impeached.  He will not be convicted.

It is a message that needed to be sent.  It needs to be sent to others.  I would not be upset if Biden and most of his top leaders were impeached.  Would it get rid of them?  No.  Would it tell the people of America that the Republicans are serious?  Yes, and that is a message that people need to hear.

Politics is theater and certain plots must be presented.  Let the curtain go up on the next act.  I think the country is ready for the grownups to start disciplining the naughty children.

Opus 2023-264: Headlines: Conservative Bad

The Gateway Pundit had a provocative bit of click bait.  It talked about the beginning of the hate attacks by the left on Mike Johnson, the new speaker of the House.  There was nothing surprising in that.  I have been predicting an onslaught of attacks in my conversations over the last few days.  It is their pattern.  It puts him in good company with people like Clarence Thomas and president Trump himself.  Expect it to get worse before it gets better.

I did not read the entire article but one of the things I noticed was that everything that the elites Progressives have to say could be answered by, “Sounds good.  What else can you tell me.”  I am also interested in finding out about all the mysterious affairs he has had, billions he has embezzled and library books he has overdue.  They may also accuse him of white privilege.  It is possible that he has a mean tweet somewhere.  Maybe he likes the KJV.  I can forgive him for that.

The key point for us is to realize this is what the left does.  Consider the source.  Don’t believe a thing you read.  Whether or not he does a good job, he is a man of integrity.  Of course that may be the thing that keeps him from being effective.

Pray for him like it makes a difference.  Realize that your prayers are the reason he has the gavel.
