Opus 2017-395: Election 2018: Campaign Issues, Voter Fraud

One of the big issues that the politicians keep sweeping under the rug is voter fraud.  President Trump has appointed a commission to look into it and is meeting little besides resistance.  This would seem a no-brainer to me.  How can we have legitimate government if our elections are not run with integrity.

An article in The Daily Signal looks at the potential for fraud by the counties that have more registered voters than they have people eligible to vote.

The logical concern is expressed this way:

“When dead people or those no longer living in a specific voting jurisdiction continue to be registered there, voter integrity advocates argue, the likelihood for voter fraud increases.”

Again, that is something so clear it should require no brain to understand.  What is there to disagree about?

The response goes like this,

‘In a statement published in several media outlets, however, Grimes spokesman Bradford Queen said the Judicial Watch lawsuit is “without merit” and is an attempt to “make it harder for people to vote.”’

Taken at face value this is ridiculous.  Dead people can’t vote so how can you make it harder?  Non-citizens are not supposed to vote so why should you not make it harder? 

At the current point it is mainly the Democrats that don’t want to clean up the roles and the Democrats that are in favor of corrupt elections.  That may change in the future but that is the reality of now. 

Give it a read.  The only way you can be against cleaning up the voter roles is if you want to cheat and manipulate the elections.  I think that if this were presented clearly and repeatedly it could be a winning platform issue in 2018 and 2020.

Opus 2016-309: Election 2016: Pure Democracy at Work

I was a hard sell when it came to plastic bags.  If given a choice I would always ask for paper.  I got over it.  I found that I could actually carry more and still unlock the front door.  I also didn’t need to fold them to store them for reuse.  I found a zillion ways to reuse them.  To my knowledge I never threw them away when I came home from the store.

Now they are taking them away from me.  Soon they will be taking them away from you.  The enlightened electorate of the People’s Republik of Kalifornia have voted to ban free plastic bags in the grocery stores.  Now we are given a choice.  The first choice is to pay 10 cents for a bag that costs less than a penny and used to included in the price of the groceries.  Or if you prefer you can bring your own reusable bag, encrusted with crud, infested with germs and laden with disease, and put it on the counter where my food will pass.  How did we get to this?  It is a good example of why the founding fathers were leery of big government and double leery of government that was in bed with big business.

It started with a small, vocal group agitating to do away with plastic bags at grocery stores.  I think it was environmentalists concerned about plastic not decomposing in a land fill.  I understand that rocks don’t decompose in a land fill either but I have not heard about a ban on rocks.  They managed to pressure a few city governments into banning plastic bags.  From there it went to the county, outside of cities.  Now the entire state has gone that way.

You can say it was voted on by the people.  It is a good example of why pure democracy does not work.  Keep in mind this is the mindless masses of the left coast.  Look at the last election.  The country as a whole was a dead heat between Hillary and Trump.  The People’s Republik went 62/33 for Hillary.  That will give you a feel for where our minds are and how different we are from the rest of the country.  In the same election the welfare classes of the left coast voted billions of dollars in new debt and legalized marijuana. 

Today it was plastic bags that were declared anathema.  What will it be tomorrow, plastic bandages?  Plastic pens?  Republicans?  White males?

Opus 2016-308: Election 2016: And the Whimper Is...

Ever since the election we have seen all the people protesting Trumps election.  One of the popular themes is “He’s not my president”.  That is true in some meaningful ways.  First, it is being reported (and I speculate earlier) that a large proportion of these mob members did not bother to vote.  Since they don’t vote it is true that no president could be theirs.  Second, a large number of the rioters are illegal aliens.  Their presidents live in Mexico, Guatemala, Venezuela, etc. 

A silent and “noble” protest has also been going on among the teachers of the land.  They are protesting by passing their distaste for Trump on to the children entrusted in their care.  They disguise it as “concern” and “sensitivity”.  I have yet to be at a gathering at my school where someone does not express concern for the anxiety of the students.  What is strange for me is that I have seen no anxiety in the students.  I began to wonder if I was living in an alternate reality.

Then I had an insight.  The whimpering of the students is a reflection of the whimpering of the teachers.  One of the mantras of education is that if we expect high achievement we will get high achievement.  Maybe the teachers need to transfer that to our form of representative government.  If you whimper and expect whimpering then guess what you will get?

All the snowflakes are not in the street.  Many of them are standing in front of classes of impressionable children.  Many of them are administrators spreading their panic to teachers.  One of the subconscious fears of educators is that the public will wake up to the fraud they are perpetuating and cut off funding for the social conditioning that is going on in the public schools.  Do those of you who live in the real world realize that I, as a teacher, have the entire week of Thanksgiving off?  Do you realize that I have two weeks off over Christmas and New Years?  That I still have Cadillac health insurance?  That I am paid more than you are when I only work 39 weeks a year?

I keep hoping that someone will realize that the Department of Education needs to go.  That thought will set off a lot more whimpering and anxiety attacks.

Opus 2016-301: Election 2016: What Happened to the Other Shoe?

I am still waiting for the other shoe to drop.  I can’t believe that Hillary is going to let this go without an endless series of lawsuits in an attempt to bring down the Republic.  Maybe she is sicker than anyone will admit.

Maybe she is aware of how many ways she tried to rig the election and she still lost.  Think about all the voting machines that were hacked.  Think about the voters that were intimidated.  Think about all the dead people who voted.  Think about all the illegals that voted.  Think about the ballots that disappeared.  She still lost.  Knowing tha,t she may have decided that the only way she could keep out of jail was to play nice and act like she cares about something besides her own pocketbook and power.

Every day without the other shoe makes it harder for it to drop.

Opus 2016-299: Election 2016: A Call to Prayer

There are so many things that can be said about the election, the results and where do we go from here.  I will probably say many of them but the key thing I think Christians need to remember is that we need to be more zealous in prayer than ever before.  An often quoted statement that evidently predates Thomas Jefferson is “Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.”  I don’t recall off the top of my head a snappy Bible quote to back that up unless it is,

(1 Thessalonians 5:17 KJV)  Pray without ceasing.

I believe we are to be involved in the political process.  One of the dangers of that is believing that real answers will be found in politics.  God has worked through every political format.  He will continue to work that way.  He can harden hearts and enlighten minds.  He can knock people down and lift them up. 

Donald Trump will need our constant prayers.  His advisors and choices will need divine intervention.  Rejoice or mourn at what happened last night, the future requirement is clear.  To that end let me add one more verse.

(Galatians 6:9 KJV)  And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

Opus 2016-298: Election 2016: Tomorrow

Get ready for tomorrow.  There will probably be a long string of accusations and law suits, no matter who wins.  We can count on Hillary’s machine coming up with new ways to cheat.  The electronic voting machines are totally unsecured.  The Republican machine will make no wave about that but Trump will.

Relax.  This is nothing new.  The only thing different is that you will only hear the liberal spin and you will hear it quickly.  American elections and the democratic process around the world is full of examples of fraud, deceit and deception.  Expect it.

It is part of the price of liberty.  I don’t think anyone ever contested an election in a country that was not free.

Opus 2016-297: Election 2016: Long Live Partisanship

Today is the day we have all been looking forward to with dread and anticipation.  While the polls have been open for early voting in some locations I think they are all closed after tonight.  It has been a long and fiercely contested process.  Some in the media would have you believe that this is unusual but if you believe that then you also believe in global warming.  You need to be careful what you believe and who told you.

Elections have always been raucous.  Partisanship is what freedom is all about.  Close elections are what keep the winners on their toes.  The only ones calling for togetherness and mindless unity are the censors of the elite.  They are the ones who have been sending violent “protestors” to Trump rallies and then accusing him of generating hatred.  They are the ones who have caused extreme reactions every time a conservative voice tries to talk on a college campus.  They are the ones trying to control the internet.  They are out to shut us up.  Most are on the left but the “right” also has its share.

Rejoice in the partisanship.  It means that the spirit of democracy is alive and well.  Be glad you don’t live in the People’s Republik of Kalifornia.  I had a choice for the senate this year, a choice between two Democrats.  I had a choice for the House of Representatives this year, a choice between two Democrats.  Partisan politics has disappeared in the People’s Republik because the progressives are in charge.  It is like living in the Soviet Union where you can vote for anyone as long as it is the one Communist on the ballot. 

Fear peace and harmony at the cost of liberty.

Opus 2016-295: Election 2016: Spin Cycle

Who is going to win?  No one knows, especially the media and pollsters.  There is so much spin and outright deceit going on that it is impossible to read.  People are afraid to say they are for Trump in certain venues.  I do straw poles at school and I can see them looking around and not expressing any opinion.  Then you have the ones who are messing with the media.

I recently read a piece that talked about how there was going to be a massive Latino turn out that would win this thing for Hillary.  That is based on the elite’s racist assumption that they have brainwashed the Latino vote the way they have the black vote.  The upset-the-donkey-cart reality is that their lock on the black vote is not as solid as it once was.  We may have a large Latino turnout but a significant portion of them may also vote for Trump.

My wife was out at a yard sale.  She was the only Anglo in one yard and got into politics with about seven Latinos.  It seems that they all claimed they were voting for Trump. 

Who is going to win?  We probably won’t know until Wednesday morning and possibly not even then because there will be so many cases of Democrats cheating that the election may be tied up in court and investigations.  It won’t be the first time.  If you have the time check out the election of 1876 on Wikipedia.

The country has survived contentious votes before.  I assume we will again.

Opus 2016-294: Election 2016: Shot or Hung? Your Choice

Have you heard the line, “Where am I and why am I in this handbasket?”  We have the feeling that things are going down hill.  Part of that is just because we are tired or had a personal conflict.  Part of it is because it is true.  Our liberty is being slowly surrendered as the Nanny State keeps building fences and riveting chains to keep us safe.  Think seat belts.  Think bicycle helmets.  Think compulsory education.  Think the war on drugs.  The chains take many forms.  All are designed to shelter us from making decisions or shield us from the repercussions of our stupid ones. 

Even with all the erosion of liberty I still think I live in the best country.  I am, however, not content with living in the best when I know that it is not as good as it used to be.  We may be the best but we are not what we were.  That brings us to our current election.

You have the chance to do something about it Tuesday.  The is the good news.  The bad news is that you have a choice of being shot or hung.

The choice is clear in a murky kind of way.  You can either vote for Hillary and guarantee that the light at the end of the tunnel is an approaching train or you can vote Trump and hope that in private when there is no bluster and ego on the line his advisors will help him make the right decisions.

And ultimately for believers we need to understand that God has already controlled Pharaoh, Nebuchadnezzar, Cyrus, and Balaam’s ass.  Think of the string of miracles that brought Hitler to his knees.  Think of the growth of the church in Communist China.  Get some context.  He can also control both Hillary and Donald.  Will we win the election?  Impossible.  There is no good choice.  Can we elect the least worse candidate in our eyes?  Certainly.  Will God still be on the throne?  No question.

So vote but remember you really only have two choices that have any meaning.  One for certain evil and one against certain evil. 

And relax.  American has been a delightful blip in history.  The end must come sometime.

Opus 2016-272: Election 2016: Talking Trash

One of the aspects of male humor that the feminine side does not appreciate is talking trash.  A lighter form is what the kids are currently calling “bagging” and the Don Rickles set used to call a celebrity roast.  Men sit around and insult each other and think it is funny.  This is very threatening to the girly men who need safe spaces and women in general.

Another aspect of this is what we call “locker room talk”.  This involves a bunch of bucks trying to out-macho each other in what studs they are.  They boast about their sexual exploits and conquests in such a way that could only be possible is you were a part of the Mongol horde that had just broken through the walls of Kiev.  How do I know it is smoke and mirrors?  Because if half of the boasting were true there would not be a violated woman left in the western hemisphere and angry fathers would have eliminated them from the gene pool at an early age.

Is it how Christian men talk?  No.  Is it how the average guy talks?  Probably.  But they do it in the locker room or bar and they know that it is all talk. 

Should we get upset at the trash talk and locker room boasting of Donald Trump?  I guess that depends on what standard you held every other president and politician to over the years.  Democrats do stuff and people laugh.  Republicans do the same thing and it is a scandal.  Part of that is that Republicans on the whole live to higher moral standards but the biggest part is that the media turns yawners into scandals as they try to manipulate the elections.

If I were considering Donald Trump for pastor he would not be in the running anyway.  If he were trying to date my daughter I would tell his wife and let her deal with him, right after I had my daughter’s head examined.  If I were involved in a business deal with him I would hide my money.  In reality we are trying to decide if the total evil of the Clintons will get another shot at the White House or we put in someone that might do something right at least by accident.

I am still on the fence.  I know I can’t vote for Hillary.  I may decide I have no choice.

Whatever you are doing, get real.

Opus 2016-258: Should-a-Beens: Another Hat in the Ring

Powerline had a post on Hillary’s eyes.  It was pure speculation about what be physically wrong with her.  I found myself identifying with the problem.

The post had a link to something about “wandering eyes” which I did not bother to check out.  You see, I have wandering eyes.  I think the technical terms is amblyopia.  Often it is called “lazy eye” and I refer to it as being cock-eyed.  It is a family condition.  My brother was so bad he needed surgery. 

Anyway, it occurred to me that this could be one of the reason’s why Hillary is qualified to run for president.  It certainly isn’t in her wisdom, patriotism, intelligence, integrity or experience.  I have more of all that.  I also have a wandering eye.  Maybe I should get in the race.

You could call me the Cock-Eyed Candidate.  We could have slogans about A New Vision and so forth.

Opus 2016-245: Election 2016: What Is My Problem?

Never Trump people need to consider a question:  Is voting for Trump really any worse than voting for Dole or McCain?  I am still undecided.  I know I can’t vote for Hillary but I am still not convinced I can vote for Trump.  Why?  What is my problem? 

It can’t be that Trump is at best a moderate.  That would describe a string of people I have voted for.  Sure, I held my nose on most of them.  Why am I having such a hard time finding my nose this time around.

Part of it may be a growing realization that compromise in politics has brought no results.  Even the patron saint of conservatives, Ronald Reagan, gave in to amnesty.  We all make mistakes but what we see is the wholesale selling out on principle.  I have seen it in school board members.  I have seen it in presidents.  I can deal with compromise.  What I can’t deal with is betrayal.

Maybe if I could just lower my expectations to “Who will make it easier for me to get the government to pay my bills” I would have less trouble.  But then what do I do with the Eighth, Ninth and Tenth Commandments?

Opus 2016-243: Election 2016: Levin Caves

It is all over the news so there is not point in linking it.  My wife announced it when I walked in the door last night.  Mark Levin has announced he will vote for Donald Trump.

Ann Coulter.  Phyllis Schlafly.  Bobby Jindal.  Rick Santorum.  Michele Bachmann.  Now Mark Levin.  Some, like Coulter, were on board from the beginning.  Others have grabbed a hand full of nose and put in their two cents.  As Levin says, he is still a Cruz man but Cruz is not in the race.  I guess I don’t need to really decide until that Tuesday in November.

Opus 2016-242: Election 2016: Kayne for President

Why should children not be allowed to vote?  We were discussing the election and one of the kids said that Kayne West should run for president.  This is a guy who has so much discernment that he married a Kardashian.  The class was very enthused.  It seemed that everyone they knew would vote for him.  This from a bunch of kids who think that Europe is a city in Saudi Arabia and have no idea who Mohammad was.

I would like to say, “They are only in 8th grade”, but I am not sure that they will think any different in 20 years except that they will have forgotten Kayne West by that time.  Unless he is elected president.  Considering what we have to chose from this time around that may not be as ridiculous as it sounds.

Opus 2016-221: Election 2016: Endorsing Hillary

I am puzzled at the continued attacks on Donald Trump by the conservatives in the country.  It isn’t like we have a choice.  He has already won the Republican nomination.  He won it fair and square.  He is the alternative.  The other is Hillary.  Having said that I still don’t know if I can vote for him, but the more evil that comes out on Hillary makes the choice of Trump the only one that has any possibilities.

Are these talking heads trying to push a third party?  Although I might end up voting that way I don’t see it as having a chance of winning.  They need to look a little at history.  Third parties that start at the top only make the loser into a winner.  They have never elected a president.  The Whig party that eventually replaced the Federalists stepped into the breach after the Democrats had a choice of four people with no opposition.  The Republicans came to the presidential election with a slate of governors, senators and representative under their belt.  They made a good showing in the election of 1856 and when the Whigs self destructed they were positioned to step into the breach.  They also had a clear message of free men, free land and free money.  They did not band together to stop Stephen Douglas from becoming president because he was too short.

So Glenn, Ben and everyone else who is bad-mouthing Trump:  Grow up and move on.  If you are serious, get a governor elected or, if it is all you can do, a mayor of some small town.  Then move on to saving the country.

Until they are ready to show me they can win they should be putting their time into getting the right congress elected so that there are some guts and principles in Washington.  It doesn’t matter whom is elected president.  They will need to be controlled and reigned in.  Both will need to understand that impeachment is a real possibility.  They will only respond to fear.  Stop making Hillary a done deal and work on getting back to a balanced government.

They can make it a twofer.  Where they have a responsible Republican, get him elected.  When the Republican candidate is a whoosy Rino, get a third party candidate elected.  If Hell freezes over and you can find a Democrat with principles, then get behind that candidate.

The future of our country and the world is at stake.

Opus 2016-200: Election 2016: True/False not Multiple Choice

I was and am a Cruz supporter.  I had no trouble with what he said in his speech at the convention.  I also realize that he is no longer running for president in 2016.  I am getting over it. 

It is time to realize that we no longer have a multiple choice test before us.  Nor is it an essay test.  It is true/false. 

What are the qualities of a true/false test?  In reality we only have two choices, T or H.  You can leave the answer blank.  It will be marked wrong.  You may feel righteous, but it will be marked wrong.  You can put another letter.  It will be marked wrong.  You can give a short answer.  It will be marked wrong.

It seems like even if we get the “right” answer we will get it wrong.

In the world of tests you will always come across questions where there is really no correct answer.  It happens.  Sometimes it is a misprint, poor editing or simply ignorance.  Other times it is because the person building the test is pushing his opinions rather than reality.  In a situation like that you can leave it blank and be assured of losing, you can guess and have a statistical chance of winning or you can try to figure out what the fool who wrote the question wants.  The answer may be wrong in reality but in the fantasy world of tests you get the points.

The test comes in November.

Opus 2016-197: Election 2016: Democracy Is Always Messy

The Republican convention is over.  The voting was done.  The political maneuvering was a wonder to behold.  Donald Trump won.

He won fair and square, or as fair and square as you can do in politics.  He gave and took punches.  Whether you like it or not, he won.  He got the required number of votes.  To complain about all of his tactics is nothing but sour grapes.  Every candidate had moments of questionable decisions.  It is called politics.  In a free country it is to be expected.  If you don’t like it, 2020 is coming and you can get started right after the next election.

If you don’t like the rules, now is the time to start changing them.  If you don’t know what the rules were then stop complaining and read them.

And all that powder that you have been keeping dry can now come out for the general election.  Remember it is no longer a contest between Hillary and Bernie or Donald and Ted.  It is now a contest between Hillary and Donald with a few supporting distractions thrown in.

It is time to make the hard choice.  For some that will be to vote or not but remember if you don’t vote you forfeit your right to complain.

Opus 2016-196: Election 2016: Target Practice

Okay folks, it is time to wake up and smell the nominee.  The Republican convention is over.  The candidate has been chosen.  You may not like the choice.  I am not overjoyed.  But the time for big talk and debating pro’s and con’s is over.  It doesn’t do any good for people who do not want Hillary as president and a Supreme Court staffed with Bader Ginsburg clones to keep pointing out all the weaknesses of Donald Trump.  It is time to grow up.  As a child you could express your opinion of which is better for dinner, pizza or tacos, but it didn’t change the fact that you were having tuna casserole. 

We need to deal with it.

If you want to go third party then admit it and get on with trumpeting the virtues of your candidate but make the attacks on Hillary, not Donald.  It doesn’t do any good to trumpet the virtues of your favorite over the choice of the convention.

I am still pretending to be on the fence but I keep looking at assured disaster or a sliver of hope.  Remember that even a broken clock is right two times a day.

Opus 2016-150: Election 2016: Trump Endorses

Donald Trump has endorsed Renee Ellmers in a North Carolina primary race according to the Washington Times.  If you are like me that didn’t send out any alarm bells but that changed as I read the article. 

Ellmers is an example of the seduction of power.  We elect people because of where they “stand” and then they do an about face.  She was once endorsed by the Tea Party for her position on spending and size of government.  Another betrayal.

“She has made clear that she no longer thinks of herself as her constituents’ representative to Washington; instead she thinks of herself as Washington’s representative to her constituents,” Jenny Beth Martin, chairwoman of the Tea Party Patriots fund, said.

The article focused on her support for amnesty and allowing illegals to stay in the country.  It also says she is actively pro abortion.  She is not favored in the primary but it shows the willingness of Trump to move in the opposite direction than I want the country to go.

The jury is still hung in my mind.

Opus 2016-143: Election 2016: Sound-Bites Rule

Don’t be mad at the establishment and liberals.  The report are that Trump has won.  I read that he now has the required minimum for the nomination.  He has done it as fair and square as politics can be.  Why?  Because enough of the masses have voted for him.  If the back room boys find a way to deny him the nomination by changing the rules, then a pox on their house. 

It makes you understand why the founding Fathers created a republic instead of following the model of pure democracy.  It is messy.  It doesn’t deliver what I want.  It is still an attempt to keep the sound-bite slugs from running the country. 

At this point there seems to be no legitimate way Trump can be denied the Republican nomination.  That does not mean he has my vote.  It is possible for the first time in my 50 years of voting I will cast no ballot for president. 

Will he beat Hillary?  Time will tell.  There are still a lot of kinks to be twisted and jived.  Bernie could go third party.  Conservatives might put out a third choice.  Both could go for it.  We could end up with enough choice that no one wins a majority in the electoral college and the decision goes to the House of Representatives. 

Don’t panic if that happens.  It has happened before.  It is how Washington, Madison, Mason, Franklin and a host of other very wise men planned it. 

We live in the curse of interesting times.  Keep in mind that it is still superior to the boring times that people in the Soviet Union experienced.  How long that will continue to be true is anyone’s guess.
