Opus 2025-476: Neo-Pagan Lies

When providing pulpit supply for another church I had some interesting conversations.  Some were enlightening such as an explanation of the maneuvering in the United Methodist Church that let the pagans take over.  Others were frustrating like the brief conversation about homosexuality with a lady one Sunday.  

The service was about to begin and we both had responsibilities.  She brought up something a friend, who was in seminary, had told her.  It involved homosexuality and her friend was feeding her the standard line of the neo-pagans running the mainline churches.  It was just an Old Testament hang up with the law and legalism.  The poor lady did not seem to be one who read her Bible much.  When I read her a brief portion of Romans she looked confused and said she had never heard that before.

Her friend had told her that we were made in the image of God and God did not make mistakes.  The conclusion from that statement involved claiming that 10% of Americans were born homosexual and it was the way God wanted them so it could not be wrong.  All I had time for was to point out that she was being lied to.  We had to move on.

It occurred to me later that we were making the wrong assumptions.  We should assume that homosexuality is being equated with adultery not with marriage.  God is very clear that sexual expression is to be between a man and his wife.  Anything outside that is adultery or fornication.  Both are condemned clearly in scripture.

If you are talking to someone who is actually a believer who has a Bible, start with the definition of marriage.  Anything outside of that is sin.  If I commit adultery I am outside God’s plan for me.  The same is true of homosexual activity.  The answer is chastity.  That means refraining from an activity.  If you believe God made you a homosexual and I can’t convince you otherwise we still have the Godly standard of chastity and self control.

If they can’t accept that then about all you can do is pray for them and keep them out of church leadership.

Opus 2025-020: Book Review: Another Mixed Bag

I just finished reading a sci-fi novel called The Mercy of the Gods.  The story was interesting and if you like sci-fi that has mysterious aliens and obscure science this could be your thing.

My problem is that the writers handbook just can’t keep out of the way of the story.  Modern writers have so much woke nonsense demanded that it is hard to weave a good tale.  Corey does a decent job of keeping it on the sidelines.  Sure, we have the women who is overcome with sorrow and because the war leader.  You will find most ethnic groups involved.  Genuine Christianity is not mentioned.  Then you get to the nonsense.

On page 342 I came across this impossible grammar.

“He wanted to meet a stranger in the library and spend an hour flirting with them.”

The only way to write this way is to confuse the issue of whether this guy is a homosexual or not. He didn’t flirt with them. “Stranger” is singular.  “Them” is plural.  Either he flirted with her or he flirted with him.  This is why I find it so hard to read fiction today.  I reject the homosexual lifestyle as being normal but I know it exists.  Is it too much to have the author be clear in what he is trying to say?

I guess so.  

I finished the book.  The story hung together in spite of the politically correct demands of the editors.  It makes me wonder, though, if I will bother with the next book in the series.  What generally happens is they keep the wokeness in the background until you get involved with the characters and then they start the overwhelming doses.

Opus 2022-083: Headlines: So What?

I read in American Thinker a link to Newsweek which claims 40% of generation Z identifies as being LBGTQ.  Some people will publish anything.  Some people will read it.  Some people will believe it.

Let’s assume that the information collected in the survey is accurately reported.  I know that is a gigantic leap of faith, but stick with me.  It doesn’t mean that 40% of Generation Z are LBGTQ.  We keep falling into the trap of accepting the vocabulary and assumptions of the Proregressives*.  What if 90% of thinking conservatives identified as fully vaccinated.  Would that make any difference to the leftists?  Would it have any correlation to truth?

One of the advantages of things that are published on line is that it doesn’t waste paper.  Often it is just waste.

Opus 2020-008: Headlines: Split

I first saw the reference at The Bongino Report.  It seems that the United Methodist Church is considering a split over the issue of homosexuality.  The homosexual community has long been trying to make inroads into getting the Methodists to accept homosexuality as compatible with Christianity.  There have been ordinations and marriages even though the agreed statement in the book of Discipline says that homosexuality is incompatible with the Christian faith. 

I thought the battle was over long ago but in the last official vote the governing body of the church voted to maintain the traditional position and reject homosexual marriage and ordination.  If a split is to come it will be decided at the General Conference which begins on May 5.  There are at least four plans for resolving the conflict.  You can find those at the Methodist web site.

With the typical arrogance of the left everything seems to point that the Methodists holding to the traditional understanding of sex would be the ones to leave and start a new denomination.  This is the way they look at it even though the Bible rejecting group is in the minority.  If the split takes place it will bear watching for those looking for a church home.  For me it will depend on their stand on abortion.  We shall see.

I have always maintained that church splits are not necessarily a bad thing.  They happen all the time on the local level.  Sometimes they are based on simple arrogance and pride but often they come down to legitimate concerns.  Sometimes when a church splits both offshoots die.  Sometimes they both thrive.  It remains to be seen what happens with the Methodists.

The Babylon Bee has a piece out on this entitled, “Untied Methodist Church to Split over Whether or Not to Be Christians.”  It is amazing how much of the controversy they put into the satire.

Opus 2017-319: Headlines: Coming to a Blood Bank Near You

I was recently going through a procedure and one of the questions they asked me was “Are you willing to take blood if you need it?”  It sounds pretty innocent but I said “No.”  One reason I said “no” is because I don’t believe the blood supply is safe.  That feeling was reinforced recently when I was looking through Ninety Miles from Tyranny and came across a post about my beloved ex-state of California.  Evidently Governor Jerry “Moonbeam” Brown is ready to sign a bill which had passed the state assembly and senate which removed the felony charges for anyone with the HIV virus to knowingly give blood.  It seems that the People’s Republik is ready to allow the blood supply to be infected. 

This site links to something called Your News Wire.  They quote Fox news. 

It may come as no surprise that this is the work of the Democrats.  According to the article,

“All Republicans came out against the bill, claiming a reduction in penalties for exposing someone to HIV puts the public at risk.”

This would be a no-brainer but when you talk about Democrats that seems to be a synonym.  Keep in mind that California has no state-wide offices held by a Republican.  Republicans may not be the answer but we know that the Democrats are the problem.

Opus 2017-239: Headlines: Squirrel!

I am not trapped in a room with a TV anymore so I don’t know first hand what the talking heads are obsessing with.  I am guessing that the topic of choice has changed.  Russia is out.  Transgender is in. 

Evidently President Trump decided after consulting with real soldiers instead of Obama’s pretty boys that people who can’t decide if they are male or female might also not be able to decide if you are a friend or an enemy.  Having been in the army, that makes sense to me.

Watch the heads implode.

The good news for Trump is that this might get the media’s attention refocused.  That type of media manipulation seems to be a regular occasion for him.

So “Squirrel!”  I wonder if squirrels get confused about their gender?

Opus 2016-131: Headlines: Federal Mandates

I have seen it being mentioned in passing but it is now in print.  President Obama’s administration, which means President Obama, has ordered all public schools to automatically treat a child’s preference as their actual gender.  Thus, if a young man at your local high school declares that he identifies as a woman, he must be allowed to use all facilities as if he had always been a woman.  There can be no questions asked or action delayed.  If he does not get immediate compliance then all the federal money that the district has been sucking up will be cut off.  It is not clear to me what happens if the next day he declares himself a man again.

Are you one of the 47% that are probably still on board with your president?  Are you one of the majority who voted for him and have continued to look the other way as he has bowed to foreign kings, insulted out allies and kissed up to the countries that want to destroy us?  Are you one of those who thinks anyone who disagrees with him is a racist?  I would suggest that you be very careful where you let your daughters go to the rest room.

I also have a suggestion for fathers.  I would suggest that you set your manly pride aside and when your daughter needs to use a strange restroom, declare yourself a woman and go in to keep her safe.

How ridiculous does political correctness and diversity training need to get before the general population wakes up?

Opus 2015-209: Sunrise or Sunset, part 2 of 3

Currently the Progressive agenda is advancing on several fronts.

Hate crimes are now a special category.  The term “hate crime” is rhetorical nonsense.  People don’t kill because they love.  Thugs don’t beat on someone to build the victim’s self esteem.  Of course murder and assault are hate crimes.  What these laws do is give the government the power to look into your thought life and punish you for having opinions that are not politically correct.  It gives the elites the authority to pick the group they don’t like and destroy them because of what they think.  Of course there is not way to prove what they think. This gives them a chance to label conservative Christians as terrorists.  It makes you a racist if you have a Confederate battle flag in your possession.  You are evaluated on your supposed thoughts, not your actions.

This opens the door to the Anti-Bullying Curriculum and diversity training that is sweeping our schools and corporate structures.  The hunt is on for people who do not agree with how the Progressive Left defines proper thinking and values.  You are now a bully if you tell a joke that makes one person in a crowd feel uncomfortable.  It doesn’t matter that they feel uncomfortable because they are mentally unstable and you had no idea they would have hurt feelings.  You are a bully.  How do you know a racist?  Simple.  If the person is white, they are a racist.  If they are non white, not guilty.

Transsexual bathrooms are a resent favorite.  It has already been put into law in California.  You are what you feel.  If you have x and y chromosomes but feel like you are in touch with your feminine side you have the right to use the ladies’ room and the girls locker room.  To question them makes you guilty of a hate crime.

Which brings us to whatever the Supreme Court actually said.  Like all law we will only find out what the words of the decision mean when further interpreted by other confused justices.

Opus 2014-198: Tax Dollars At Work: Remodeling a Bathroom Near You

“Mommy, why is that man in our bathroom?  Why does he have that funny smile?” 

In January California implemented its new law about trans-gender bathrooms in public schools.  The thrust of the law was to allow students to go to the bathroom that they felt matched their sexual orientation.  The adults said it would be no problem.  After all, they asked, what boy would want to be found in a girls bathroom.  I did an informal survey and it seems that they all thought it would be a good idea.  The girls were horrified.  The boys were anticipating. 

Nothing had been done to implement the new law at the end of the school year.  It will be interesting to see if any signs have changed when school opens.

It seems it is also coming, or has already come, to a college near you.

The Drudge Report linked to a site called The College Fix that had a post titled, “University to Offer ‘Gender-Open’ Restrooms”. 

It seems the going trend at universities.  And you thought they were for higher education. 

One of the fascinating quotes I found was,

“We received overwhelmingly positive information, and so we went with it,” Devin Moss, the director of Northwestern’s LGBTQ Resource Center, told the Daily Northwestern. “We didn’t really get any major concerns.”

In case you don’t get out much, according to the LGBTQ Pamphlet offered by Texas Tech University it stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning (or Queer).

Yes, even in Texas.

You might begin to ask yourself, “Why is my tax money going to support this kind of foolishness?”

Opus 2014-107: Persecution Watch: Don’t Preach It, Brother

The Thought Police are on duty.  Today it is a Seventh Day Adventist, tomorrow it could be you.

It only made the Drudge Report one day.  I had to try several times to find it with Google.  It seems that Dr. Eric Walsh is both a government worker and a pastor.  His day job is, or maybe was, Public Health Director for the city of Pasadena, California.  In his private life he is an associate pastor in a Seventh Day Adventist church.  This man had the audacity to actually get in a pulpit and preach what the Bible teaches.  For this he has been put on administrative leave.  For this he has “withdrawn” from speaking at a commencement speech at the local community college.

Before I go any further, let me share a paragraph with you.

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”

In case you don’t recognize it, this is the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States.  This is the supreme law of the land.  This is becoming hate speech.

The Bible has some clear moral teachings.  One very clear standard of God is that homosexual activity is a sin.  In spite of all the statements to the contrary there is really nothing to discuss.  This man, this ordained minister in a recognized denomination, had the vulgarity to actually stand in a pulpit and make a public statement that has been the standard of Western civilization for thousands of years.  He did not make these statements at work or in a general public forum.

For this he has been attacked by the Fascist (Progressives, Socialists, Communists, Educators, Democrats, Rhinos, elitists) Thought Police.  He has offended NAMBLA.  He has alienated the GLBT community.  He must be silenced.

You may not be concerned.  That is probably because you have been so neutered that you don’t have any thoughts that the Fascists (Progressives, Socialists, Communists, Educators, Democrats, Rhinos, elitists) are worried about.  They don’t care what you think of Beyonce.  They do care what you think about God’s standards of righteousness.

The persecution is on.  You are not free to express your opinions anywhere.  You will be recorded and hounded. 

Get ready.  Or just sit down, shut up, turn on the TV and veg out.

Opus 2013-387: Headlines: If It Looks Like a Pogrom and Hacks Like a Pogrom...

I am off today for a visit to a doctor.  Nothing serious.  It gives me time to read the headlines and respond a bit.

On Drudge the big headline involves the Duck Dynasty “controversy.”  I put the word in quotes because it is really not shock over vulgarity but a pogrom over faith.  When a man who is used to speaking clearly is asked a specific question, don’t be shocked when he actually answers straight.  Phil Robertson used correct language to describe body parts and correct theology to evaluate the question of could and should.  For this A&E tries to spank his hands.

I rejoice to see the families response today.  The Drudge Report links to an article in something called “The Hollywood Reporter.” 

I confess, this is the only way they could get me to read anything in this publication.  According to them the family is pulling together and acting like Christians rather than be intimidated by the thugs in the media.  The article included the words I wanted to hear,

“The family has spent much time in prayer since learning of A&E's decision.  We want you to know that first and foremost we are a family rooted in our faith in God and our belief that the Bible is His word.”

Good for them.

I shortly stopped reading after that because most of the article was a repetition of all the vitriolic attacks of the anti-Christian voices of the country.

Pray for this family.  Pray that they would be faithful.  Pray that they would maintain a position that will encourage the rest of us to live our faith instead of cowering in the shadows of paganism.

Opus 2013-313: On the Street: Racers Unaware

I am sure you have had the experience.  You are on a divided, multilane highway trying to get around a car.  It is going slow enough that you caught it.  Once you get by you pull away.  The problem is passing.  There seems to be a built in sense of competition in people that when a car starts to pass them they drive a little faster.  I don’t know how many times I have overtaken someone when I was driving 55 MPH but I had to get up to 70 to get around them. 

I think we have that same kind of sensor built into our psyche that responds to other people even when we are not thinking about it.  Sometimes it comes out as competition.  Sometimes it comes out as conformity.  Sometimes it produces conflict. 

Like how we live our lives paced on people around us instead of the posted standards God has given us.  We seem to derive our sense of right and wrong from what our culture tells us.  We see this emerging in areas like marriage.  For all of history marriage has been defined generally as one man and one women.  Some cultures allowed multiple wives, but generally it was one on one.  Homosexuality has been tolerated or ignored but at no time has anyone gone far enough to call such relationships a marriage.  Such an idea was obviously silly, even to the pagans.  Until now.  And why?  Because we are told by the celebrities, scholars and talking heads that it is good and if we feel different we are out of step.  So most people slowly conform.

Cars come with speedometers.  The roads come with speed limits.  The same can be said about life.  Ignore the limits at your peril or the peril of your civilization.

God will not be mocked.

Opus 2013-253: Headlines: Red Herrings to the Right of Me...

When I went on the Drudge Report this morning one of the headlines Read “Gay Athletes Could Be Prosecuted at '14 Winter Olympics...”  If I Were a homosexual I would not be too worried. 

Why not be worried?  I am one of those right wing, red necked, bigoted people who believe that homosexuality is not normal.  Homosexual sexual activity is a sin.  If you ask me I will tell you.  The thing is, unless you ask me you will probably never know how I feel about this sin just as you will not know how I feel about other sins such as gossip, adultery, slander, theft, etc. 

To my knowledge this headline was written by, and distributed by, a group of journalists who are on board for the homosexual agenda.  The reason they are publishing stuff like this is to stir up hatred and division.  I don’t know of anyone in my circle who would come up with the idea of prosecuting or persecuting homosexual athletes at the Olympics.  I work with homosexuals.  It has never been an issue.  I had a tremendous waiter the other day who appeared to be as gay as the apparel in the Christmas Carol "Deck the Halls."  He did an excellent job. 

This is a red herring perpetuated by the haters in the media not by supposed haters in the Christian community.  If you read the article you will find that it is exclusively a Russian thing and is mainly noise by a local politician. 

Read with care.  Always think, consider the source and ask the motivation.

Opus 2013-219: Headlines: Transgender Bathrooms

Perhaps you think my last few posts have been over-reacting.  Check this out if you think so and then tell me I am overreacting.  I had heard mention of this but did not see any big headlines so I googled it.  I don’t usually read the Huffington Post but found it there.  It seems that the People’s Republik of Kalifornia passed a law on July 3 that mandates by law that school children can pick the bathroom they use not based on their physical gender but on how they feel about themselves.

“California lawmakers approved a bill Wednesday that would require public K-12 schools to let transgender students choose which restrooms they use and which school teams they join based on their gender identity instead of their chromosomes.”

This is what happens when the Democratic party gets total control of the reigns of government.  This goes so far beyond common sense that most people of good faith would be left speechless.  Yet it is now the law.

If you keep voting the way you are voting this is coming to a community near you.  How many days was this after the Supreme Court decisions were published?

Elections have consequences.  Supreme Court decisions have consequences. 

I wonder what will be next?

Opus 2013-218: Headlines: Homosexuality Wins, Part 2 of 3, What Will We See?

Homosexuality has won a big one.  What can we expect from this?

What will we see?  Expect the envelope to continue to be pushed.  Think back one generation.  If you had told them that homosexual partners would be getting health coverage, that homosexual couples would be adopting children, that homosexual relationships would be part of the daily TV fare, you would have been laughed off the street.  They would have called it impossible and you an extremist.  Once a ball starts rolling down hill it keeps going until it reaches the bottom and then keeps rolling until it runs out of energy.

What will we see?  Where is the bottom?  Keep in mind that there are already organizations that have been openly pushing for legalizing sex with minors.  It does not take much of a stretch to see that what is now called child molestation will soon be praised as a wonderful expression of love.  It will happen.  Sex with animals will soon be excepted.  If you don’t believe it, hang around a guys locker room and listen to the jokes. 

What will we see?  When the principles that brought us affirmative action and social justice are applied we will be arrested, fined and locked up for even trying to change the law.  Our phones will be bugged.  Our homes will be monitored.  Our cars will have little chips put in.  Our culture has already accepted these nightmares that are right out of 1984.

What will we see?  Since the traditional definition of marriage in Western culture has been thrown under the bus you can expect to see the issue of polygamy revisited.  I do not put Mormons or Muslims into the same category as homosexuals.  That is not the issue, but their traditional view of marriage allows for multiple wives.  In the past the courts have said “no” to that understanding.  It will be revisited and changed.

You ain’t seen nothing yet.

Opus 2013-217: Headlines: Homosexuality Wins, Part 1 of 3, Not the End of the World

And the nation loses.

I am reading all kinds of wishful thinking by people on the right about the two decisions of the Supreme Court regarding homosexuality and marriage.  I am sure that all of their nuances are well intended but the fact is the homosexuals have pushed the ball down the field and are in a position to keep moving it.  This is just the beginning of what will be coming no matter how you want to tell me what the justices said and didn’t say.  They had a chance to draw a line and instead they erased one.

It is not the end of the world.  Life will go on.  It is just the end of the world that we have known.  If you think that TV and movies have been raunchy before, just wait until this decision starts to take effect.  It is all part of a package.  Immorality never stands alone, it must pollute everything.  You know what happens when you leave the bathroom door open.  Think foul gas or humidity, your choice.  It is called diffusion.  Both spread until equally dispersed.  If you have children, pay attention to what they are hearing taught at school.  It will be enlightening.

It is not the end of the world.  If we are willing to sit down and shut up we may be able to exist as second class citizens.  If you think that the harassment of the IRS and the monitoring of the NSA were bad before, wait until they are used to humiliate and trap those who dare to speak out against homosexuality.  In California we saw people who supported Proposition 8 have their careers destroyed because they had made a contribution.  That was before this decision.  Then it was simply a matter of winning an election.  Now it is a matter of dominating a culture.  If you keep quite they may leave you alone.  Then again they may not.

It is not the end of the world.  Keep in mind that the subjects of Rome knew times of happiness and joy.  The workers of the Soviet empire knew how to laugh and have family times.  The slaves in the Southern states had times of fellowship and warmth.  In totalitarian regimes it is only the people who stand out and stand up that are knocked down.  It is only the ones who dream big and try to achieve their dream that need a wake up call.  Remember, when you mow the lawn it is only the tall grass that gets cut.

It is not the end of the world.  What will be missing is liberty.  You can’t have liberty without morality.  You can’t enjoy freedom without having legitimate limits on license.  You can’t have liberty without the rule of law.  That has been removed.  Now we will have fear instead of freedom.

It is not the end of the world.  Yet.  It takes time for the effects to reach every corner.  The police cannot be everywhere.  They cannot listen to every conversation.  Rome was not built in a day.  It was not destroyed in a day either.  If you had lived in Rome in 476 A.D. you would have noticed no big change but it is the date given as the end of the Roman Empire by historians.  If you had lived in Southern Spain in 732 it would have taken you 700 years to be effected by the Christian victory over the Muslims at Tours.  But the tide was turned at one victory.

It is not the end of the world.  We will need to adjust.  We will need to respond.

Opus 2013-142: Headline: Homosexuality and the Scouts, Bias in the Media

One of the complaints that you often hear from people of traditional views is that the media is biased.  To us this is a statement of fact, not an opinion.  We see it every day.  Those immersed in it can’t see it.  It is like the smoker that things a breath mint is going to fool people because they can’t smell the tobacco impregnating their clothes.  It is like me after I have been to Mongolian Barbeque and my wife knows it as soon as I walk in the door.  Just because I can’t smell it, doesn’t mean it isn’t obvious.

In this story about homosexuals and the  Boy Scouts of America we have a good example of the kind of thing we are talking about.  Consider the following sentence. 

“The scouts' decision is a focal point of a heated gay rights debate in the United States, where polls show public opinion is fast moving toward greater acceptance and a core of social conservatives stridently oppose such change.”

Notice it is debate about the rights of “gays.”  Not homosexuals, gays.  This is the word of choice to try to remove the historical judgment of society.  Not a big deal but it is part of the influencing of public opinion.  It is part of the bias.  It is language manipulation which is part of the post modern philosophy that says everyone has their own values and they are equally right.  If they are gay does that mean that we are sad?

They do not give conservatives the same courtesy.

“Public opinion is fast moving toward greater acceptance,” they say.  When the polls were the other way it probably was not parsed that way.  Keep in mind that the writers are the ones who are trying to mold public opinion.  And is the information correct?  Who did the polling?  How were the questions asked? 

Notice how they label the conservatives.  We are “stridently” opposing the change.  This is a loaded word.  What other choices would there have been?  “Vigorously?”  “Staunchly?”  “Consistently?” 

And notice it is only the “core” that is concerned.  Only the extremes need apply because we know that only extremes would be concerned about a standard that goes back to the earliest civilizations.

The battle continues.  What is sad is that people ignore it thinking that it will pass them by and they can continue as they always were.  It is similar to the world that ignored what Hitler was doing to the Jews because it was not rocking their world.  Sixty million death later they found out that they were wrong.

What will it take to get society back on track?  Don’t count on the talking heads to tell you.

Opus 2013-140: Headline: Homosexuality and the Scouts, the Power of Nag

The gay lobby and the forces that are out to destroy the foundations of this country will not give up on destroying the Boy Scouts as we know them.  Look again at the statement I looked at last time from the Reuter's article.

“If the resolution is approved, ‘no youth may be denied membership in the Boy Scouts of America on the basis of sexual orientation or preference alone,’ Deron Smith, the organization's spokesman, told Reuters.

But the policy is not changed for adults, the group said, and an internal document obtained by Reuters says that when youth members become adults, they ‘must meet the requirements of our adult standards’ to remain in the group.”

The long term plan is being laid out.  If they can get the children accepted now, they know that the children will grow up.  When the eagle scout decides that the next step is to become a scout master, how can you deny him, after all he has been a good scout.  This is really pretty basic.  You destroy from infiltration, from the inside.  After all, if he was good enough to be an eagle scout, why isn’t he good enough to be a scoutmaster.

It is logic.  It is the next step.  The problem is that the first step was wrong.  If a train gets on the wrong track there is little chance that it will arrive at the proper destination.

The left knows this.  The conservative voices make the mistake of assuming that there are no hidden motives or long term goals.

Nagging works because people get tired of it, not because it is right.

Opus 2013-139: Headline: Homosexuality and the Scouts, the Camel’s Nose

I followed a link on Drudge to an article in Reuters about the current attempt to break down the long standing position of the Boy Scouts of America to not allow homosexuals into the organization.  The focus of conflict has been homosexual scoutmasters.  Since the gay lobby has not been making any progress there they decided to attack on another front.  Evidently homosexual scouts have also been banned.  Who knew?

And how would you know?  I doubt if there was a box to check off on the application to join the scouts that said, “Are you homosexual?”  It is the kind of thing that would not be asked.  The only time it would come up is when there was behavior that crossed the line of acceptable such as making a pass at another scout.

What we are seeing is the traditional attack of the left against the values of our culture.  You chip away a little at a time, move forward, let the cog clicks and you start chipping again.  Since they could not get the big bite of total acceptance they are now going to try to do it “for the children.”

Read this quote from the Reuters article on the subject.

“If the resolution is approved, ‘no youth may be denied membership in the Boy Scouts of America on the basis of sexual orientation or preference alone,’ Deron Smith, the organization's spokesman, told Reuters.

But the policy is not changed for adults, the group said, and an internal document obtained by Reuters says that when youth members become adults, they ‘must meet the requirements of our adult standards’ to remain in the group.”

To be honest, most people are not worried about a few homosexual boys mixed in with a scout troop.  I am sure it has been happening since the beginning of scouting and as long as the adults are alert and heterosexual it was not anything more than isolated, individual indiscretion.  In other words, it was not a problem.  It was not a problem unless you are trying to manufacture one.

In conflict, momentum is king.  If you can get the other side to take a step back, your victory is just a matter of time.  The key is to get the camel's nose under the edge of the tent.

If the Boy Scouts back up on this, it will be just a matter of time until they are caving on the issue of homosexual scoutmasters.  This will not automatically cause evil.  It will abandon common sense and put men in charge of little boys who have a tendency toward sexual interest in little boys.  It will be the beginning of the end for the Boy Scouts.
