Opus 2026-217: Another Donald

I miss the influence of another Donald, Donald Wildmon of the American Family Association. He influenced my life and the course of the nation even though most have never heard of him or met him.

Wildmon’s organization put out a monthly magazine which was for the most part just another pro-family publication but for a good while he featured a column on boycotts. He recognized that we all cannot boycott everyone. There are too many businesses that have taken the profits and moved to the dark side. Honestly, you cannot avoid them because you need to stay alive. In our part of Texas you cannot buy groceries if you don’t frequent companies that support far left, degenerate wokeness.

Wildmon’s theory was that we needed to agree to pick out one and focus our financial efforts on that one. If we worked together we could bring any corporate giant to its knees. For instance, what is the moral difference between shopping at Walmart or Target? None. They both provide what numerous department stores used to give us. Wildmon would suggest picking one and sticking to our guns. He would make recommendations in his magazine. He would give us updates on how it was going. It was the only part of his magazine I read every month.

It can work. We don’t hear about it any more but I am convinced that we started the decline of K-Mart when we boycotted them. They used to be everywhere. I used to buy certain items there. When they came on the list I changed my habits. I think the issue was starting to sell soft core pornography. When they stopped selling it and were removed from the list my habits had changed and I rarely went back. I often see large buildings that were once K-Marts.

One of our problems is we are those cats that refuse to be herded. For the benefit of our grandchildren we need to learn to listen. If anyone knows some place where a voice with any following is doing this, let me know.

Opus 2025-355: Don’t Call Them Boycotts

I am not against the idea of boycotting businesses and people that violate the basic values of my life.  One of the problems I am facing now is that there are so many places that have joined the forces of Satan that it’s hard to find any place to shop.  I can’t boycott everything.

So I’ve decided to make it more of a choice, an act of stewardship, rather than a refusal to do business.  Do I need groceries?  Of course I need groceries.  Am I going to go out and plow my backyard to get my vegetables and fruits?  Am I going to buy a cow and make my own cheese?  Am I going to plant wheat, harvest it and grind it into flour in order to get bread? I  think the answers are obvious.

Instead of looking for the faults, which are many, I will ask myself, which one is the most deserving.  When I go, I will try to bring a ray of Sonshine into the darkness.  We are to be salt and light in our world.  We are not told to be surgeons removing every mark of sin.

I keep forgetting to do it, but one of the things I think would be interesting would be to thank a person stocking the shelves for his work today.  Perhaps comment to someone who is pushing one of those carts and loading up groceries for someone who can’t get out of their car about how they are helping improve someone’s life.  I know one thing I do remember is when they ask me at the checkout how am I doing?  I don’t give the standard reply, “I’m making it.”  Instead, I try for something like “marvelous”, Or as they say here in Texas, “So blessed, I can hardly stand it.”

Spread a little salt today.

Opus 2024-034: Does This Dress Make Me Look Female?

Which will history remember best, a man who put on a woman’s swimsuit and won medals competing against women or a woman who stood up to the cancel culture that cheered him on?

Who will get a chapter, Lia Thomas or Riley Gaines?

I guess it depends on who wins the culture wars that are going on now.  We often focus on the corrupt partisan judges and bought-off district attorneys.  We get hot under the collar at politicians and who is running the country.  At the same time we keep buying Nike’s and vacationing at Disneyland.  Put aside the idea of civil war and violence.  I have a feeling that if you are not willing to set aside Mickey Mouse and Ben and Jerry’s you would not be manning the ramparts any way.

As much power as they seem to have, understand that the deep state and George Soros could do nothing if we would not cooperate.  I just read how Hitler called off a boycott of Jewish businesses because their prices were so good the population did not cooperate.  Learn to make discerning decisions.  My family stopped passing any money to the Disney Empire years ago.  We won’t even buy their used stuff in yard sales and yet we keep hearing about the great time our friends had at Disney World.  They don’t seem to want to understand.  Disney finances their box office bombs with the ones that do well and the parks people visit.

Remember Mervyns’?  Many people don’t.  They shut down not too many years after Christians started boycotting.  Interestingly they were bought out by Target before they decided to kick out the Salvation Army and go woke.  Do you still have a K-Mart in your neighborhood?  We have an empty building that used to be a K-Mart.  They started declining after we boycotted them.  It may not make any difference if you don’t do anything but it will do even less if no one takes a stand.

There are inconveniences involved.  If we don’t go the extra mile now the inconveniences may become genuine hardships.

Pray.  Speak out.  Stand up.  Take a risk.  The chances may not come very often so keep your eyes open while you still can.

Opus 2022-244: The Power of Choice

I made a choice recently.  I was at Dollar Tree and I had a choice between two buckets.  I chose the one that looked a bit rougher.  My criteria?  It was made in Mexico rather than China.

It was just one choice by one person.  The total money was $1.25, plus tax.  It was not an economy breaker unless you multiply it by the dozens of choices each of the 350,000,000 Americans make every day.

Check the label.  See where it was made.  If you have a choice, purchase a bit of freedom along with your closet treasures.  If we start caring enough to let it effect our choices then our world will be a better place.

Opus 2022-195: Choices

My memory says I have already named my specific targets for economic warfare.  I can’t find it in the Boycott box so I will take another look at it.  This is stimulated by something I read that mentioned Dick’s Sporting Goods.  I had forgotten that I did not shop there any more.  If you do this kind of thing right it becomes automatic.  You don’t even consider visiting them.  Maybe you could make an exception on a hot day if you want to use their a/c or when you need a bathroom.  It would depend on your ability to resist that sale they are having.

Part of my thinking is that no one can boycott everything that is offensive to our values.  The way things are going the woke companies may give you no options.  My suggestion is to develop a reasonable list, maybe with four categorizes and one company in each.  That is doable.  Thus you would not boycott both Walmart and Target unless there is a K-Mart still open in your area.  I have my truants in several categories.  

The Dementia Category

My first category is companies I have gradually rejected over the years and either never bought their goods or have stopped and don’t think about it.  It is like the names you can’t remember when you get to a certain age or the things you did last week you don’t remember.

Ford Motor Company has drunk the koolaide on the homosexual agenda.  Since I don’t ever see myself buying a new car this is painless to me.

Levi is something I don’t shop for any more.  It was all I wore as a teen and young adult.  They also became a gay company and made it even worse by undermining the Boy Scouts back in the days before the Scouts gave up the good fight.

Dick’s Sporting Goods is a no-go because of their position on selling firearms and ammunition.  This has cost them some business because there have been items I would have considered buying there but purchased somewhere else, but I don’t consider them any more.

The Hold that Line Category

This category involves companies that are on my primary list of boycotts.  I have to think to not use them because they have been part of my life.

Amazon is off my list, or on it depending how you look at it.  To be honest there may come times when I have no choice but I have been able to go a year or so without ordering anything from them.

Target is not an option.  Banning the Salvation Army from collecting was only made worse by their embracing the transgender bathroom idea.

Pepsi products were one of my earliest boycotts.  The big problem is that Pepsi has a lot of spin offs like Taco Bell and Frito Lay which really cut into my fast food and junk food binges.  It also makes me drink water a lot at restaurants but that is probably a win/win for me.

Coke went woke and I had to walk away.  They were the ones I turned to when I stopped using Pepsi and now they seem to hate white people.  I don’t hate them, I just choose not to put my money where their mouth is.

Farm League Category

There are businesses which I would like to avoid because of the political positions they have taken but since I can’t boycott everyone they didn’t make the cut.  In this I have Walmart, Chick-fil A, Bed Bath and Beyond and any product with a rainbow in its labeling.  

I urge you to get involved in economic warfare.  Make your own list.  Have your own reasons.  Keep in mind that they don’t care about you or your values.  It may be hard but it is something we can all do.

And vote like there will be tomorrow because there may not be.

Opus 2022-121: Welcome to the Party

I just saw a meme that called on us to boycott Disney and all products.  When I got done scratching my head I said to myself, “I have been doing that for years.”  

Welcome to the land of nonmake-believe.  If you go back and review all the Disney movies you have seen you will find aspects of many that are anchored in the dark side.  Even Dumbo had the segment called “Elephants on Parade” where a drunk mouse has visions of morphing pachyderms that gave my son nightmares.  If you went to Disneyland you would find the same thing on many of their rides.  When I was still in denial I went on a ride that had been “redone” and noticed that the presence of darkness and evil was more obvious than before the “improvement.”

What you are seeing now is just becoming obvious because when you let evil prosper in the small things it grows to be the big things.  I am sure that many of you have tried to grow things like cantaloupe and watermelon.  If you have I am sure that you have picked up what looked like a delicious choice for dinner only to find it hallowed out and full of insects.

Welcome to the real Fantasyland.

Opus 2021-045: And, So?

One thing I notice as being very common:  We all like to complain about what is wrong but we don’t offer solutions.  Even worse, if there are potential solutions we don’t act on them.

Mea culpa.  

One of the questions I have for people at times is, “And, so?”  What do they want me to do.  My wife usually waits until we are almost at the restaurant to point out some flaw in my grooming.  Someday I will turn around and drive home to deal with it.  I am not sure if I will leave her at the restaurant or make her ride with me.

In some areas doing something is relatively easy.  While some people live in an area where they have no alternative to shopping at Walmart, I don’t think that is the case for everyone.  Contrary to popular belief there are places to get things besides Amazon.

In other needs we are locked in.  Your mortgage may have been sold to Wells Fargo or B of A.  You may only have one choice for health insurance.  I get it.  Your one vote can’t vote the suckers out.  

I urge you to be creative.  Sometimes it is just a matter of denying yourself a bit.  I went to a used book store that had a sign saying noone could come in with a concealed weapon.  I turned around and waited for another day and another store.  It didn’t hurt me a bit.  The only problem was I had driven across town to go to that one business.  Their loss, not mine.

Make someone a loser this week.  It will be better than complaining to someone else who is doing nothing.

Opus 2021-340: Onward Non-White Christian Soldiers

I have a couple of more questions generated by our constantly changing cultural milieu.

Will Target stores now allow the Salvation Army to make collections in front of their stores.  You may have forgotten that they banned them.  They had some milk sop comments about equality and such but the real reason in my opinion was that they represented a positive image of Jesus.  With the current woke version of the Salvation Army being revealed they may need to rethink that.  The Salvation Army and Target are now joined at the hip.

Will I now be able to resume shopping at Target.  The reason I quit giving them my business was the banning of the Army.  Now that they are not worth banning maybe I can check out the stores again.  Then I remembered that Target also embraced the transgender bathroom idea.  To be honest, I have never seen a Target that has transgender bathrooms.  It may have been all talk.  I would notice because the only reason I have been in a Target is to use their bathrooms, which are usually right by the entrance.  

I will have to think this one over.  When I stopped going to Target I still had Walmart.  Now Walmart has gone “I hate white people” and my options are severely limited.  

Life never promised to be easy.  At least these are first world problems.

Opus 2021-232: Time to Walk the Talk

We continue to talk like Sam Adams and act like a Bob Hope character.  Maybe it is just me.  

Everyone I talk to in my little circle is upset about what they see happening around us.  At the top of the list, of course, is the power grab by the Proregressives* who want to turn the United States into the Fourth Reich.  That is a real danger and we watch the dance going on daily.  A case of friendly trespass is portrayed as a nation-threatening armed insurrection.  A mild virus is hyped as the end of life as we know it.  Our military is being turned into a bunch of girly-men.  Racism is wonderful as long as it is hatred for traditional Western culture.  

I am not sure what to do about all that.

This same group is also upset about the choke hold that the social media is developing on information.  They are upset that an ice cream company becomes rabidly anti-Semitic.  They are outraged that a popular beverage company goes totally woke and calls for race warfare against whites.  They get angry that the largest mail order company in history spends billions on left wing causes.  The rage goes on.  At the same time they continue to Tweet, Friend people, buy Ben and Jerry’s, drink Coke and shop at Amazon.  It is kind of like claiming that Carbon Dioxide is killing the planet and then flying to a conference on the subject.

I do know what to do about that and nobody is doing it.

Almost everyone I know is still frequenting the companies they admit are destroying the American dream.  When they need school clothes for the kids it seems that Walmart is the only place that has what you need.  Amazon has everything and delivers almost instantly and, of course, you need it right now.  The excuses go on.  I understand.  I really do.  I have not sworn off Walmart for the rest of my life.  When family harmony demands it I will walk through the doors if accompanied by an adult.  I continue work at buying things at other places, yes and pay more, and take the time to look.  It isn’t easy but can be done, but no one seems to be doing it.  Since I never buy Ben and Jerry’s I don’t have the right to make an issue but I have weaned myself from Coke products.

Nothing will change if we do not change.  I think that the CEO’s of social media read the protests of the Christians in this country the same way we used to read the comics in the newspaper.  We are good for a laugh.  I feel like a real weirdo when I am with “conservatives” and feel out of place when I say I don’t shop at Walmart any more.  

I need more company.

*(Liberals, educators, the media, socialists, communists, crony capitalists, elites, Rinos, Democrats, leftists, Never Trumpers, Antifa, BLM, MSM, Deep State, etc.  Another word for swamp dwellers)

Opus 2021-161: Skip the Big Smile

As I was walking toward the front of the house I passed the front door and saw two packages on the floor with the tell-tail smile on the ends.  I almost screamed in frustration.

I am working hard to not patronize businesses that are out to destroy America while they wallow in the benefits it provides.  Everyone’s favorite mail order spot is on my list, or off my list, depending on how you think.  I have not ordered anything from them for months.  I needed a vacuum and by a little research I found one locally.  The price was close enough that I didn’t even check to see if it was lower.  I have found that I can get pop-corn from some producers at a good price.  I am looking into alternatives to the coffee I had as a staple.  I can’t even get it from the company that cans it, at any price.  I will make the sacrifice.  There will be another coffee out there.  I wanted an inexpensive battery tester.  The temptation was to order it from the Big Smile.  A little checking shows I can get one locally at a good price.

I will accept that for some items and in some locations using the Big Smile might be the only option you have.  I also submit that such emergencies are not as overwhelming as most people claim.  We can wake these people up but only if we are willing to get off our derrieres and exercise a bit of delayed gratification.

You can do it but it needs to happen before they require the vaccination card linked to your credit card in order to do business.

Trust me, it is in their dreams.
