Opus 2024-390: Time to Deal a New Hand

Years ago, I spent a little bit of time playing poker.  I found that I enjoyed the game. I found that I enjoyed the game too much.  Going along with that I found that whatever it is that you call luck had nothing to do with me.  I concede that my skill was not the highest, but there are times when pure luck prevails and I repeatedly came up on the short end of the stick.

Poker is an ongoing game.  You have hands that are dealt.  Each time you deal a hand you take all the cards, shuffle them, and then ask who wants to be in that round.  If you want to play, you are expected to ante up.  What that means is if you were serious you had to put something out in the middle of the table as an opening investment, an opening bet.  It was usually established at a level that everybody could participate even though they had no idea what cards they were going to get.  And then you would proceed through the game, dealing the cards, being able to discard once and ask for replacements.  And then you would go around and people would play psychological games.  You would bet more and dare others to match your bet or a increase it.  You were doing a couple of things when you were betting on the cards you had in your hand.  At one point you are betting on the possibility of getting better cards in the draw.  You were guessing what kind of cards the other people had.  Each step required you to up the ante, make a bigger bet, put your money where your mouth was.

Politically, we have come to the point where it’s time to deal a new hand.  In the past those of us with traditional values would take the win and leave the game.  We can’t afford to do that anymore.  When we do that they take over and run things.  They win by our default.  They go back to business as usual.  The swamp once again starts to spread and pollute.  We walk away with the couple of nickels in our pocket that we got from that hand, think we are fine fellows, and they sit there laughing, knowing that the game goes on.

We need to stay in the game and up the ante.

Keep in mind that those we are playing against us are not just the left wingers, the mindless Democratic machine, the administrative state, or any other label you want to put on them.  We are also playing against the Republican establishment, the Rinos.  They are by far the largest danger.  We won elections.  We sent a message.  The Democrats know that we sent a message.  But what they are counting on is that the Republicans who have a vested interest in keeping things as they are, will undermine the message.

We need to stay alert, stay in the game, up the ante and, metaphorically of course, go for the jugular.

Don’t rest on your laurels.  Pray harder than you ever prayed.  Speak up louder and more often than you ever did in the past.  Stand up for the things that you know are right.  Put aside fear and speak boldly.  Risk conflict at the Thanksgiving table.  Write letters.  Make phone calls.

To change the metaphor, we’re only in the first inning of the game and we can’t go home just because we’re ahead one to nothing.

Opus 2024-376: Danger, Rinos Ahead

We made it past the election.  Although there are some disappointments as the vote counters continue to play their games it seems like enough Americans showed up for work to bring in not only the president but majorities in both houses.  Now we have the problem of Rinos.

We already see the games going on in the Senate.  The president was elected with a mandate to do certain things but the Establishment Republicans want to make sure that they are the ones in control rather than Donald Trump.  They are trying to make sure that the Senate is controlled by someone who is agreeable to the entrenched minority, rather than someone who is responsive to the elected president.

Part of that is the dance that goes on with the balance of power.  I understand that.  Part of the Senate’s role is to make sure that the president doesn’t get too puffed up with himself.  At the same time, there are things that need to be taken care of.  There is business that must be done.  We only have a short time to bring back the constitutional republic and get rid of the deep state theocracy of evil.  We don’t have time to play games at this point.  In three years if they want to goof around, more power to them.  Right now we need to make changes.

I find myself in a weird situation.  One of the problem people in the Senate is the senior senator from Texas.  I am convinced on the other side is the junior senator from Texas.  So we have a foot in both sides of the battle.  Calling Senator Cornyn really won’t do much good because he is the problem not the solution.  Senator Cruz is already on board.  I would encourage those of you who live in states that might make a difference to get on the line and talk to your senators.  Let them know that we are not satisfied with business as usual.  I understand if you live in California, this is like I a downpour in the desert.  It will just runoff and disappear.  There isn’t much you can do.  But there are states where your voice might be heard if you call the office and leave a message.

Now is the time.  The Rinos are in the wings.  The future is at stake.

Opus 2021-265: Conservative Cannibals

The conservatives are circling the wagons.  That might be good if we didn’t have a tendency to go outside the circle and shoot back across at each other.  We are famous for eating our own.  

What is on the menu?  Or should I say, “Whom?”  The list includes anyone who makes the slightest stumble, those who are too strong for another faction, those that the left is trying to get us to drive out and anyone who gets on your nerves that day.

Kristi Noem has had a few bad days.  Ted Cruz has people wondering what he is doing when he doesn’t show up at everything they think he should do.  Greg Abbot has been seduced by the China Virus panic.  I will vote against him in the primary but I need to be careful that I am positive about the other candidates not just negative about him.  I heard someone firing on Candice Owens recently.  I am sure you can name more or might have some of your own to try to roast.

Who should be on the menu?  The list is long.

The other guy who voted with Cheney
John McCain.  Yes, I know he is dead but he represents what is wrong with “conservatives.”
Mitt Romney.  Can he be redeemed?  I guess it is possible but we don’t have time for it.
That Alaska Senator with the name that is hard to spell.
Every Rino that voted with the Democrats and against Trump
Every Rino that voted to pass the bloated spending bill

We do need to go after this second list.  Why is it important to deal strongly with the true RINO’s?  So that the others will get the message.  There are a lot who have a tendency to stray.  They need to be reminded that there are consequences.  

We also need to be very careful about what the Communist mini-Manifestos put out in their lies and distortions.  You have seen the way they have been going after Governor Desantos.  So far he has called their bluff.  “News” agencies have had to back down.  The CDC has been forced to admit their false statistics.  Don’t believe anything they tell you.  In the event that they actually tell the truth about something, don’t worry about it.  You will hear it from someone you trust.

So go ahead and circle the wagons, just make sure you are shooting at the real enemy.

Opus 2020-041: Election 2020: Time to Put Down the Popcorn

If you agree with me I hope you voted yesterday.  If you don’t then I am less concerned. 

In some ways the primaries are more important than the general election.  This is where you get the best chance to knock off the ingrown incumbents and get some real Americans into office.  It is hard to do but there are a lot of RINOs that need to find day jobs.  It may not help their day job employer much but it will certainly benefit the country.  In places where there are enemies of liberty such as Pelosi and Schiff you need strong candidates to take them on in the general election.  We only had one office that this would apply to in our precinct and we went with the opposition in the primary.  He didn’t really have a chance but it was worth a try.

The general election is coming.  If you disagree with me on the issues then I really hope you get caught up in your Hallmark movies and forget to leave the house.  This election is too important for me to advocate snowflake voting.  If you understand the insidious nature of Fake News and are angry about the way the major sources of information are trying to manipulate us then get out there and work at voting the suckers out.

Keep in mind that there are also a lot of other things we will be voting on.  I think most states have judges coming up for the vote.  Cities and counties are electing people to make decisions about daily life.  There will probably be initiatives or whatever you call them in your area that need some thinking.  It isn’t just about re-electing Donald Trump.  Coat tails are important.

For many of us it is on to November, for the rest vote carefully in your primaries.

Opus 2018-202: History Will Judge

I have not been paying much attention to the funeral and orations concerning John McCain.  I have been to enough funerals and participated an too many.  I know how much hot air is projected at such events.  They are almost as bad as some of the award assemblies I had to attend while teaching public school.  It is a good thing that God does not usually throw lightening bolts to sear liars.  He will wait until eternity where he has a lake of fire waiting.

You have mixed stories and wonder which to believe.  You have fellow prisoners claiming that he was noble and courageous.  You have others saying he ratted them out to the guards.  Hero or traitor?  Which is true?  Maybe both.  It could be that different cell mates saw different things at different times.  It is possible that actions were misinterpreted, positive and negative.  He could have been strong at one point and broken at another.  Maybe neither.  Memories get clouded and motives can be varied.  We will never really know.

Maybe we should divide McCain’s legacy into three stages.  The first was his time of captivity in a Vietnamese prison.  We will never be able to dig into that so maybe we should just give him the benefit of the doubt and let the legends stand.

The second stage would be the middle point in his career as senator.  My wife, who almost spits at the mention of his name, says he was at least consistent with his defense of the unborn children being killed in abortions.  That is worth something.  I am willing to say that during that time period he was a normal politician and has a mixed record. 

The third stage is the one that clouds his memory for me.  It is a strong indicator of his later record that he was so loved by the anti-American hacks in the media.  Is in an indication of his seduction by the dark side that so many socialist Democrats were his buddies.  In the last ten years you find him constantly stabbing the conservative agenda in the back.  He became petty and self serving.  He made it an issue of banning President Trump from his funeral.  I don’t think he thought about the fact that Trump would have hated every moment and would have had less time to tweet if courtesy demanded his attendance.  Less widely broadcast is that he also banned Sarah Palin.  This is mysterious as well as petty.  I have read that Sarah Palin never said a bad word about him even though his people tried to make her look like a fool while she was running as his vice-presidential nominee.  She acted like a lady.  He acted like a cad.

If John McCain had finished the third chapter like he lived the first two I might feel like his death brought a loss to the country.  As it is I can only feel it is a negative influence that has been removed.  The frustrating thing about history is that it is not really written until we have all passed from the scene.  Take a look at your history.  Benedict Arnold was an American hero early in the Revolutionary War.  He was the leader that won the battle of Saratoga that brought the French into the war.  But something changed and instead of being remembered as a hero his name has become synonymous with betrayal.  He is our name for traitor.  The later actions of betrayal eclipsed the early gallant service.

Opus 2018-156: Headlines: Misplaced Euphoria

I would not get too excited about Justice Kennedy stepping down. 

Everywhere I see that the left is going into the Blue Screen of Death mode and the right is giggling themselves silly.  They assume that President Trump will nominate a judge who believes in the Constitution and will interpret it instead of advancing their own personal opinions.  I believe he will try.  I believe the judge nominated will meet those requirements.  I don’t believe that it means a lock on the future.

I don’t want to rain on our parade.  I have high hopes.  I am expecting a sterling selection.  Then we have to get it past the Flake on the Judicial committee and the McCain on the floor.  Both are big challenges.  We can deal with the Democrats.  What we have trouble with are the RINOs.

Take Chief Justice Roberts as an example.  He met all the criteria when he was selected.  We were overjoyed.  We felt we were holding our own.  Then he stabbed us in the back on Obamacare.  How many other justices have been nominated because they believed in the Constitution but the kool aid they serve in the Supreme Court lunchroom started to do its work?  I could see Roberts stepping into Kennedy’s slot as ego building swing vote.

So don’t stop praying for a Justice to reign up.  Don’t stop being salt and light.  Don’t stop agitating and demanding either, if that is your strong point.  Keep in mind that a faithful remnant can keep God from giving up on the United States.  If not, we face the Sodom Solution.

Opus 2017-409: Election 2018: On Spades and Not-Spades

I voted for Donald Trump with my eyes open and my nose held.  It is becoming one of those rare times when things work out better than you could have hoped.  A recent post of Power Line hits on a vital part of why that is true.  After commenting about how the media has been lying about Trump it says,

“But maybe that is too charitable. Maybe these reporters have been lying for a long time, and we finally have a Republican leader with enough guts to call them on it.”

Donald Trump seems to be the first Real Republican since Calvin Coolidge.  There is no problem with calling a spade a spade as long as it is a spade.

As we look to the future we need to see that we elect people to government who will support the direction that Trump wants to take the country.  The key will be the primaries.  That means that we need to work to unelect some RINOs sitting in positions of power.  I don’t care if they did get you a new bridge or a contract for your local manufacturer.  This is bigger than what is good for you.  It is about the future of America and the world. 

Elections matter.  Vote the RINOs out.

Opus 2017-342: Should-a-Beens: Mavericks for Sale

Where is the Democrat party’s Rand Paul?  Why don’t they have a John McCain?  How is it that the Democrats are capable of such lock-step zombyism?

It could be a weakness of the Republicans.  Maybe they are all such nice guys that they can’t bring themselves to force people into line.  Maybe they are afraid of rejection.  Or it could simply be that conservatives tend to believe in individual freedom.  Maybe they believe that the ones to discipline Rand Paul should be the people that elected him, not the party bosses.

Maybe it is the commitment of the Democrats.  The problem with that is that the only thing they seem to be committed to in this generation is an ideology of socialism and central control.  What kind of people with above average intelligence and any moral principles could sit silently and follow the agenda and distortions of the Obama administration?  Maybe the question answers itself.

Should I be glad that the Republicans actually believe in the kinds of diversity that make a difference?  Republicans as a whole don’t have racial hangups like the left.  What we have are hangups about liberty and living our own lives.

It would still be nice if all the mavericks were not on our side.

Opus 2017-311: Headlines: Sharing the Blame for Sharing the Wealth

A lot of us are upset with the president for agreeing to raise the debt ceiling and borrowing more money.  What is a bit hypocritical is Republican leaders blaming him.  If you are one of those who think this is a deal between Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi and Donald Trump you were not paying attention in your high school government class, assuming you had one.

The bill was signed, according to the Washington Times.

“President Trump signed a bill Friday afternoon to inject billions of dollars into disaster relief, racing to deliver the funds as Hurricane Irma bears down on Florida and as cleanup efforts from Hurricane Harvey get fully underway in Texas.”

We hear cries of “President Trump made a deal.”

Okay, class, listen up.  Where do all spending bills for the United Stated government start?  If you knew it was the House of Representatives you probably cheated.  Who is in charge of the House?  Paul Ryan.  The next line in the article is,

“Mr. Trump acted just hours after the bill cleared the House in a strong bipartisan vote.”

In order for it to get to the president’s desk it also had to go to the Senate, where the Republicans also have a majority, and pass there.  So by the time it reaches the president all the Democrats and RINOs had a chance to nix it.  They did not.

Where were all these patriots when the president said he was ready to sign a bill ending Obamacare?

Crickets.  So go ahead and be upset with the president but don’t forget your local congressman.  And don’t leave out all of us that think the U.S. Government is there to ride to the rescue when we have a problem.  We are digging our own graves, one crisis at a time.

Opus 2017-291: Headlines: An Opinion You Care About

John Kasich weighs in on the Pardon Affair.  I am sure you were waiting to hear what he had to say.  It was on “Meet the Press” which I don’t bother watching since it is on NBC but he is quoted in the Washington Times.

I think the biggest belly laugh was produced by the last paragraph in which Mr. Kasich said,

“I wouldn’t have done it this way,” Mr. Kasich, a 2016 GOP primary opponent of Mr. Trump‘s, said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” “It absolutely should be out of bounds for somebody to use that as some sort of political wedge. It appears as though that’s what it was.”

We know he would not have done it this way, that is why he was not elected president and Donald Trump was.  I have a very small sampling to go on, which makes me as qualified as most polls, but I would say that the Average American voted for Donald Trump simply because they expected he would do it this way.

One more scoring single for President Trump.

Opus 2017-290: Headlines: Oak Leaf Clusters

John McCain is already on my RINO list but he continues to add oak leaf clusters.  If my memory serves me right, that is how the military designates you have received a medal more than once.  This time McCain again joins the America haters on the left by bad mouthing the president on his pardon of Sheriff Arpaio, according to the Washington Times. 

To his credit he admits that the president does have the power to pardon but when your balance is negative $100,00 a few cents doesn’t change things much.  He claimed he was concerned that the justice system was not allowed to drag this on for years and bankrupt the citizen with legal fees.  Maybe he was planning on a fund raiser for the sheriff and is broken hearted because he won’t be able to make a speech.

Go John.

Although I am not sure he will run again, vote the suckers out.

The president is against bigotry and hatred.  What upsets these people is that he clearly sees that the hate is not just a white issue but a human issue.  They are simply using this as a means of trying to drag down a man who is not a part of their inner circle.

Opus 2017-256: Headlines: War, but Not with Korea

One of the reasons that Donald Trump resonates with so many Americans is because he gets it.  He understands what is happening.  To quote one of his advisors as quoted in the Washington Times,

“‘This is a war,’ said Bruce Levell, a member of the Trump re-election campaign’s advisory board.”

He understands that we are in a cultural war.  The Rinos don’t get it.  Actually they do get it and they are on the other side.

A revealing statement was made later in the article.

“Mr. Trump has some distance to go to build the type of popular support President Clinton had when he was impeached by the House but not removed from office in a trial by the Republican-majority Senate. His acquittal in 1999 was all the more spectacular given the bitter opposition to his presidency from the Republican Party.”

I remember those days.  There was no question that Bill Clinton was guilty of perjury.  That was the issue, not his antics with Monica.  In spite of that the Republican controlled Senate could not impeach.  Why?  The same reason that President Trump finds that the Senate repeatedly ties his hands and works against his agenda.  There are too many Republicans that would prefer to be on the other side of the aisle.

Yes, we are at war.  It is a cultural war.  It is a political war.  The Democrats, the Rinos and the Progressives are on one side.  A minority of Republicans, President Trump and a majority of Americans are on the other.

Remember, vote the suckers out.

Opus 2017-252: Election 2018: Rino List 1

It is really hard to keep track of all the Rinos who are more concerned with their personal power than the good of the country or the stated goals of the Republican Party.  They are intent on ignoring the voting public because they believe we have short memories.

We do.  So I am going to begin a list for my own good and share it as I update it.  We need to watch as, on issue by issue, Rinos come out of the closet and show their true colors.  The first list I gave to you in paragraph form.  Now I will repeat it as a list.  I will put them alphabetically and try to relate the issue that exposed them.

The Washington Times helps me add to that list as a “bipartisan” bill is introduced to make it hard for Trump to deal with the Mueller witch hunt.  Today I will add to that list:  Thom Tillis of North Carolina.

You might want to read the article with your brain turned on.  It states that the Senate,

“...wrote the bill to create a judicial review should a president try to remove a special counsel.”

Historically the first president to face impeachment was Andrew Johnson.  His offense?  He dared to fire one of his cabinet members.  Deja vu anyone?  Just who does Donald Trump think he is, the President of the United States?

The second hat you need is your Constitutional scholar hat.  In the article it says,

“The bill would write into law current department guidelines governing who can fire a special counsel, and make them retroactive to this year’s appointment of Robert Mueller,...”

Does the phrase “ex post facto”  ring any bells?  Let me share with you a phrase from the Constitution, Article 1, Section 9:

“No bill of attainder or ex post facto law shall be passed.”

The phrase means “after the fact”.  It forbids congress from making laws retroactive. 

These are dangerous times.  We have the Democrats who don’t care what the Constitution says and we have an unknown number of Republican in Name Only frauds who also don’t care.

Vote the suckers out.
