Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.

Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Opus 2025-039: The Yellow Snow May Be Lemonade

Thursday on a Zoom meeting we got to talking about the L.A. fires.  At least three of the group live in the ash strewn valleys.  One lives within the “no-go zone”.  He is in an interesting situation.  They are not forcing people to leave but they have turned off the electricity.  They were first told to boil their tap water then told not to boil it because that would release poisons that had been absorbed.  He can leave but he can’t come back.  It is typical California nonsense.

What struck me was the positive things he had to say about his situation.  He said it was bringing people out of their houses and getting them to talk.  He was encouraged by the spirit of community that was emerging.  He was getting to know people he had lived beside for years.  It doesn’t rebuild the homes or bring the dead back to life but it is an aspect of hardship that we overlook.

Another guy on the call, who does not live in California, reminisced on the experience I shared with him in Boston during the Blizzard of ‘78.  Martial law was declared and you could not drive.  People came out of their houses and met in the snow clogged streets and got to know each other.  It was an unexpected benefit of the attack by Mother Nature.

So be encouraged.  The destruction is not over yet but life goes on and people are busy making lemonade.

Opus 2025-038: The Fire Shall Burn on the Just and the Unjust

I have mixed emotions and thoughts about the California fires.

On one hand I have friends who still live in the area threatened by the fire.  Another series of furious winds and they may be out on the streets.  On the other hand I have been encouraging them to leave for years and there is nothing but deeper heel marks.  It is hard to feel much sympathy for people who keep eating at a fast food place that gives them gastric adventures.

On the one hand there are virtuous, godly people who have been effected.  I believe this simply because it is hard to believe that an entire town is full of blue brained fools.  Having said that I used to believe there were still some good people in the Democrat party too.  Some fantasies are hard to unbelieve.  I feel for those people.

On the other hand the vast majority of people being burned out have consistently voted and contributed to the people and policies that made the fires much worse than they needed to be.  Many of them will vote for the hairdo again if given a chance.  The plain fact is that some people will never learn.  My sympathy runs out very quickly for those people.  I wish them well.  I hope that they do not get what they deserve, but that crosses over into the nature of evil and why people seem to be less than they should be.

Let us hope that lessons can be learned at the lowest possible price.

Opus 2023-166: Headlines: They ARE Coming for Your Children

There are lonely heros out there that are speaking truth at the risk of their own lives and security.  One of them is presented at The Stream.  California State Senator Scott Wilk had some advice for parents as a result of AB 957, a bit of legislation that will declare parents guilty of child abuse if they don’t “affirm” their child’s confusion over their gender.

He advised parents to leave California.  We left years ago for less serious reasons but also because we could see the Marxist writing on the wall.

In case you are one of those people who think I am seeing a Communist in ever closet and under every bed let me share with you, in the words of Karl Marx, the attitude of The Communist Manifesto toward families.  And before you try to say it is a mistranslation, the Communist Party issued it in a number of languages, including English.  These are their exact words.

“Abolition of the family! Even the most radical flare up at this infamous proposal of the Communists.”  Kindle location 295-296.
“Do you charge us with wanting to stop the exploitation of children by their parents? To this crime we plead guilty.”  Kindle location 300-301
It is time to leave before they set up check points on the major highways and make it impossible to rescue your children.  There is a reason I often call it The People’s Republik of Kalifornia.

Opus 2023-140: California Presents Silver Linings

According to a piece by Victor Davis Hanson California has half of the homeless in the nation ane one third of the welfare recipients.  If I read correctly half of the illegal aliens go to California as well.

All I can say is, “Thank you, California.”

If their reparations nonsense goes through then we will see the erosion of much of our diversity as blacks move west to get their share of the dream.  Who can blame them?  Many will probably be back in a few years.

Always look for the silver lining.

Opus 2023-084: Solution to Overcrowding in Southern California Emerges

Have you been reading about the latest brainchild of Gavin Newsom?  Actually I should say “supposed” brainchild.  In the reports I saw he is planning on phasing out diesel powered trucks and replacing them with unicorns or leprechauns.  Actually he wants to use electric powered trucks but I think he would have more luck with the unicorns.

About the “supposed”, so far as I looked for anything solid it seems that everything is based on sources who refuse to let their identity be known.  I am surprised that this did not break in the New York Times.  Maybe it did.  Who reads it?

Also the idea is so retarded that it could be true.  Not only would it be impossible to get the trucks, the range suggested of 100-300 miles, but it also means that what used to cross the country in a few days would possibly take weeks.  That would not matter if we were just talking about new I-phones but we are talking about food and other necessities.  It is an invitation to destroy the industry that moves most of the freight.  It is a guarantee of starvation in the multi-million people in Southern California.

The one advantage for the rest of us is that it will probably make it impossible for more blue brains to move out of California and infect the rest of the country.

I have heard the line about, “Just when you think they can’t get any stupider...” many times but it keeps becoming the lead line for the news.

Opus 2022-019: Should-a-Beens: Renaming California

I am thinking that we need to rename the once golden state of California.  I am going to suggest “Coventry”.  This idea is presented by Robert Heinlein in a story of the same name.  If you have never read it you can find the entire text at Metallicman.

The basic thesis is that anyone convicted of a crime is sent to a place where they are free to live with nothing to guide them but their own desires and abilities.  That place is called Coventry.  It has been a long time since I read the story, I stopped reading Heinlein when he started pushing incest, so I will speak from memory.

Coventry is an area surrounded by an wall that cannot be breached and rigorously guarded.  There is only one gate but a lot of places where guards can dispatch anyone who tries to break out.  When you are ushered in the gate you are able to take any weapons or devices you want.  I assume that nuclear missiles were not allowed.  You were given a date on which you would be allowed to exit if you showed up at the gate.  Any other time that you came to the gate would be your last day for anything.

I am suggesting that we do that with California.  They have already declared that they want nothing to do with a republic that allows the liberties listed in the Bill of Rights.  They keep exporting their foolishness to the rest of us.  Let them have their way but make them keep it to themselves.

For Coventry there would be some immediate results.  Their electricity would soon go away because they don’t generate enough to run their A/C and Telsas and when the wall went up they would either be cut off from outside sources of forced to pay in gold for any imported.  The same would be for water and food.  They would soon run out of gold.

There would be long range results.  After the killing fields bring the population down to livable levels the war lords would institute all kinds of things from the past.  Slavery comes to mind as a possibility.

There would only be one gate.  I would suggest the desert to the west of Las Vegas.  The civilized, liberty loving Americans would escort all the miscreants that want to rule us without our consent to that gate and turn them loose.  I would suggest that we start by getting an agreement with the military to look the other way and round up all the people who have been working for the alphabet agencies and take them into custody.  It should not be too hard to separate the wheat from the chaff as they are gathered up.  They could be given different times to consider the errors of their ways in Coventry.  After we are done with them we could develop a committee to investigate the rulings of our judges.  This would be easy in some cases.  Check their bank accounts and such and find out who was bought off to rule a certain way.  Line up their decisions on one side with a copy of the Constitution on the other and see if they should stay in the land of the free and the home of the brave.  The hard cases would be those areas where they were within the letter of the law but ignored the spirit.  These we could treat with mercy.  The example of their despicable colleagues would be enough.

The beauty of this system would be that there is no capital punishment involved and you would require a much smaller budget to maintain it.

It will never happen but a man can dream, can’t he.

Opus 2019-213: Headlines: Shocker, Democrat Resigns

By now I am sure you have heard that Congresswoman Katie Hill has resigned.  This is a shocker, not because of what she did but that she resigned.  It must have been much worse than the media is letting us know.  Keep in mind that she is from California and a Democrat.  What would it take to shame such a person?  She is leaving while Pelosi, Schiff and Feinstein remain.

Before you get excited keep in mind that she may be replaced by someone picked by the governor of the land of fruits and nuts, Gavin Newsom, or by a special election among the same people who elected her.  If you think the warm-up act was good then buckle up for the main show.

I am tired of getting the government that other people deserve.  I read that somewhere and I agree with whomever said it first.

Opus 2018-059: Headlines: I Hope It Serves Them Right

Reports coming out of California often catch my eye.  You may have heard about the $1,000 fine to servers who offer diners a straw.  Now we have a suggestion for the menu for that strawless consumer.  The name of the dish sounds healthy, nutria.  In reality they are big rodents, read rats, that were imported into the country to be raised for their fur.  Since fur is out they may now be harvested for the meat under the fur.

This could be a win for many people.  The hunters would be encouraged because the nutria will destroy the wetlands of the environmentalists.  People who protest the grain fed to cattle to produce prime rib would save even more grain by dining on nutria fillets.

So next time you visit the People’s Republik you may need to add nutria to the cuisine you are going to sample.  Along with the nuts, flakes, fruits and sushi you can have a nutria taco.
