Opus 2018-264: Election 2018: Scratching My Head

I was hoping for better news on the House of Representatives but it looks like most of the races were won by significant enough numbers to demonstrate the will of the voters.  I know how they voted and it was very frustrating to watch all of those seats flip to the party of hate.  It really just reinforces my view of a nation that elected Clinton and Obama and repeated the nonsense. 

Business as usual, but I really can’t figure out some of the results.

I now live in Texas.  I came here to get away from politicians like Beto O’Rouke.  He is an empty suit that disagrees with the values and culture of Texas on just about every issue.  He lost as he should.  The thing that mystifies me is that he came so close.  According to the latest information from the Secretary of State he received 48.32 compared to Cruz at 50.89.  ??????  Pick an issue.  Guns, he was against them.  Abortions, he was for them.  Open borders was his theme.  Go on down the list and he sounded like he could have won in California.  He came close enough to be scary.

And look at Arizona.  According to Real Clear Politics McSally is less than one percent ahead of a Democrat who said Arizona voters were crazy and had no problem with people joining ISIS to fight against America.  This should have been a runaway situation.  Of course this is the state that kept returning John McCain, Mr. RINO, to the senate.  You need to factor in all the liberals fleeing their model socialist state to the west.  Still, where are the Americans?

I can understand Virginia moving blue.  Northern Virginia is simply an overflow for the swamp of D.C.  Their gravy train in on the line.  What I can’t understand is Pennsylvania.  Four districts switched to the swamp support by sizable margins.  Have they ever heard of coal?

We will move on.  Divided government is part of the checks and balances that the Founding Fathers envisioned.  It is probably healthy.  So are Brussel sprouts.  It doesn’t mean I have to like them.

Opus 2018-263: Election 2018: Day of Hope

This is a day of hope.  Today Americans have the choice to make their voices heard or to sit back and do nothing.  One of the benefits of our system is that we have a choice and we are not forced to exercise it. 

I am optimistic.  I hope that the numbers at the end of the day are good for the America I envision.  I am aware that there are a lot of people who are so brainwashed and ignorant that they don’t recognize the danger of socialism and the tyranny it produces.  I am aware that they don’t have any idea of economics and so many are employed or supported by government jobs and largess that they think money grows on trees.  They forget that leaves also grow on trees and most leaves are of no value except mulch.

I am still optimistic.  I have Hope because God is on the throne.  I do not assume that America is God’s chosen people.  That position was given to Israel and I have not heard about it being reassigned.  At the same time there are still a lot of people living in obedience and faith.  I know that the country survived FDR, Jimmy, WJC and BHO.  We can outlast the demagogues and self appointed messiahs because overall our system is robust and there are still enough of a righteous remnant that I believe God is not done with us as a country.  People came through the Great Depression.  We can not only survive but thrive in what is coming.

That gives me hope about the future no matter how the numbers come out. 

My hope is not in the American people.  These are the same people who elected Bill Clinton twice and Barak Obama twice.  This is a country that almost elected Al Gore.  This is a country in which the major media outlets have not gone bankrupt and people who know better are still going to Starbuck’s and eating Ben and Jerry’s.

God is patient.  I hope that tomorrow will bring good news about politics.  I know today brings good news about eternity.

Opus 2018-247: Election 2018: What Kind of Government Do We Deserve?

I watch the mindless, unprincipled march of the Democrats.  They could not be sitting in positions of power and working their evil if they did not have a lot of Democrats voting for them and a lot of Republicans not voting at all.  I keep wondering how so many people can be so blind.  Can’t they see what is obvious?  Have they lost their minds?  Do they have no sense of logic or morals?

Then I begin to wonder if they are saying the same things about me.  Actually they are saying a lot worse things. 

They are wrong, of course.

Opus 2018-244: Election 2018: History Lessons

At the end of the Civil War Abraham Lincoln called for reconciliation and forgiveness.  Most people have heard the famous finish to his second inaugural even if they don’t know the source.

“With malice toward none; with charity for all; with firmness in the right, as God gives us to see the right, let us strive on to finish the work we are in; to bind up the nation’s wounds; to care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan — to do all which may achieve and cherish a just and a lasting peace, among ourselves, and with all nations.”

He made this statement after references to God, the Bible and our Christian tradition.  They are very noble and correct.

He relaxed, went to the theater and was murdered.

At the end of World War II we began to rebuild Germany and Japan.  In Europe it was called the Marshall Plan.  Japan was put under the control of General Douglas MacArthur who had a very high regard for the future of that country.  Do you get who we are.  We forgave our enemies and helped to rebuild their nations.

Of course we had totally defeated them with a no-holds barred approach to victory.  They were shattered.  We could afford to be magnanimous. 

The results are open to interpretation.  True, we did not have Germany rising again to bring us to World War III.  Japan did away with its military.  We have had peace on those fronts but the direction they are going today makes you wonder if it was the best approach.

With the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court we won a battle in the War for the Heart of America.  For the moment due process, the rule of law and presumption of innocence came out on top.  It ceased being an issue of who he was but instead what he represented.  Let’s take a moment to rejoice, but only a moment.  We need to keep digging the trenches, putting stakes around our castles and combing the countryside for the guerilla resistance.  We need to root out the traitors and by the careful use of law and due process show them what justice means.  They will be back and they are good at hitting us in places that we don’t think a person of integrity would strike.

That is because they are not people of integrity.  Morals for the socialist are whatever brings them victory.  The only high road is the one that destroys the opposition.

We are the opposition.  We have a duty to follow the rule of law and due process.  If you are a Christian or a believing Jew you have a responsibility to be kind to your enemies, but that comes after you win, not before. 

There will be many battles in the coming days to wear us down and get us to compromise.  We need to stay alert and remember to vote on November 6.  I will say vote early.  I would say also vote often but that is one of their techniques.  Our biggest danger is that we give up on how slow freedom works, throw in the towel and become like them.

Then we lose.

Opus 2018-240: Election 2018: Choose Your Side

I watch the circus that is our government.  I see the elites who think they know what is best for everyone else and watch them manipulate, lie and cheat.  I find it hard to believe that Diane Feinstien and Cory Booker don’t have a part of their mind that keeps saying, “I am sooooooo wrong.  How do I live with myself?”  You have all seen the cartoon depictions of a little angel on one shoulder and a little devil on the other. 

That is only for cartoons.  I came across some verses in the Bible this morning that reminded me of the real problem.

(Proverbs 4:16-7 KJV)  For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.  For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.

Does that not describe a lot of the politicians and their media sycophants that we see on a regular basis.  It isn’t a matter of cute little caricatures.  It is a matter of evil little hearts that glory in inflicting mischief on others.  What else would explain the constant ignoring of testimony and basic facts?  How else could they justify setting aside due process, the rule of law and a presumption of innocence?  You need to understand that when they intimidate a Jeff Flake into craven jelly they walk around off camera giving each other high-fives.  When they browbeat a witness with gotcha questions they are swooning with a sense of power inside.

They know what is best for us and don’t care how much they destroy in the process of creating a perfect world.

Of course we also have the potential arrogance of becoming so self-righteous that we join them, just another team in the National Evil Team.  That is why it is important to keep a standard of unchanging right and wrong.  For Christians that starts in the Bible.  For Jews in the books of what I call the Old Testament.  For assorted pagans I would suggest that you consult your sources of moral authority and act on it.  I know where serious Jews and Christians will come down.  I don’t know enough about Buddhists and Hindus to speak with authority.

The battle goes on.  Each of us gets to choose which side we are on.  Sadly it seems like all of the Democrats and too many of the Republicans have already made the choice that can destroy life as we know it.

An election is coming.  Vote before you are forced to revolt.

Opus 2018-236: Election 2018: Fear Management

A thought about fear of flying.  I don’t have it.  I have a growing dislike because of TSA and a continued reduction in size of the seats, but I have no fear.  I do, however, know a couple of people who have that fear.

I don’t understand it but I know it is real.  They generally deal with it by not flying.  I have one friends who just will not get on an airplane but she still manages to get to family get togethers and go on vacation.  How does she do it?  Amtrak.  It takes her a long time to get there but get there she does.  She did fly to Hawaii about 10 years ago because it was an important family event but she left fingernail marks on the armrests and her screams still echo in the jet stream.  She brings real meaning to the expression, “Never again!”

The other used to be a globe trotter.  She literally traveled around the world.  She did things like back packing in the Himalayas as a single woman.  Now she is afraid to drive across town and almost panics when she has to fly.  She does fly on occasion but only when there is no choice.

That is how you deal with fear of flying.  You don’t use it as an excuse to avoid something you don’t want to do.  Unless you are a Democrat trying to derail the Republic.

November is coming.  Your part in draining the swamp is to vote against the critters.

Opus 2018-225: Election 2018: Consider the Source

I have no intention to have anything to do with the current product of the porn star who has been trying to make money off Donald Trump for months now.  It is impossible to avoid other people’s fascination with what she has to say.

But I notice a parallel.

She is trashing the president on one level while Hillary is out on the game shows trying for the prize by trashing him on another level.  Did I say, “game shows”?  I meant news programs.  Actually, no I didn’t.  Her motivation is the same as the porn star and I would imagine her credibility is even worse.

What does it say that a former president is also out trying to trash the president?

November is coming.  Make your opinion of all this be felt.  Are you going to take the offerings of three over the hill losers or are you going to look at the economy, judges nominated, international progress, etc.  I know how that Democrat next door will vote.  The question is how will all of you that know the difference between to, too and two.

Opus 2018-223: Election 2018: The Blue Wave Oversleeps

I first heard the news on the radio that woke me up this morning and later found it on My San Antonio.  A “political newcomer” named Pete Flores won a special election for the Texas state senate.  The loser was a known name in both state and federal government.  Here is the corker:  This is the first time the seat has ever gone to a Republican and the records go back 139 years.  This is a blue wave I can learn to like.

The radio also reported that Cruz now had a nine point lead in the polls.  Of course I don’t know which polls and how reliable they were but this certainly goes against the narrative we are hearing in the Main Stream Media (DNC Talking Points Media).

Feel free to read the article and gloat.  Since I don’t listen to the left wing news sources I don’t know if they are reporting this.

Opus 2018-222: Election 2018: The Catholic Hierarchy Are Democrats

I understand that most bishops, archbishops and cardinals are not American so the tie to the Democratic party is purely symbolic.  But consider what we have seen seeing recently.  They are getting caught.  There doesn’t seem to be much question about that.  The juries are not only out but never met but the Catholics I have talked with believe there is no doubt.

So how do they respond?  Like Democrats.

They are doubling down and running for re-election.  Molesting little boys?  We will pay them off and move you to a new location.  Involved in homosexuality?  We will promote you and give you more power. 

Republicans also get caught.  Depravity and criminal behavior know no political party.  The difference is that the Republicans have the courtesy to step down.  If they don’t then the party moves in to make it happen. 

Someone once said that Republicans may not be the solution but Democrats are the problem.

Remember that when you vote in November.

Opus 2018-215: Election 2018: An Insight from Sowell

One of the books on my “everyone should read” list is Conflict of Visions by Thomas Sowell.  He discusses the two dominate philosophies trying to guide culture in the West.  He labels them the constrained and the unconstrained visions.  The Constitution and the American Revolution are products of the constrained vision.  It maintains that man is not to be trusted and thus we have the checks and balances in our system of government.  The French Revolution was an example of the unconstrained vision.  Because they had a more humanistic view of the nature of man they did not think something like the Reign of Terror or the emergence of a Napoleon to be possible.  It is a bit simplistic but you might call the current stand of the liberals in favor of a living Constitution are unconstrained.  Those who believe in the original intent of the Constitution are constrained. 

Judicial activism as we observe it today is part of the unconstrained vision.  We have Ruth Bader Ginsberg openly calling on the precedents of  international laws to settle issues in the Untied States Supreme Court.  You have a long history of new rights carved out of the imaginations of the liberal justices.  Sowell describes it thus,

“Yet those who argue for deliberate law making through judicial activism do so not on the basis of having a democratic majority, even in a given generation, but rather on having an intellectually and morally superior process for decision making.” p. 54

We need to understand that there are elites in the world who think they know what is best for us and want to limit our options.  They do this in a genuine belief in their own wisdom and our lack of same.  This is the big issue at stake in the current confirmation battle over Bret Kavanaugh.  The progressives are concerned that he will interpret the Constitution as it is written instead of the way that the liberals want us to understand it.  The unconstrained vision believes that some people are so pure and superior that they will make the right choices.

The midterm elections are coming.  Ponder what kind of Supreme Court you want and vote accordingly.

Opus 2018-154: Election 2018: Enforce the Rule of Law

The left is doing everything is can to incite violence.  They keep pushing the envelope.  The past few weeks have seen a rash of abuse on Republicans as they go about their daily lives.  Maxine Waters has openly called for violence.  It is building and there is a temptation we face as conservatives.

We have this feeling that we are the problem and if we will just give them what they want they will go away. 

It doesn’t work that way.  They are demonstrating the classic bullying behavior that keeps thugs in control of neighborhoods.  It is the standard form of negotiating from the progressives.  They demand half of your loaf.  You give it to them and hope for peace.  They realize you are not going to resist so they again demand half of what is left.  You think that will do the trick so you give it to them.  Then they want more.  It goes on until one of two things happen, either you punch the bully in the nose or you are destroyed.  It is part of the bully code.

So the right will have to stand up to the bullies sometime.  They are going to keep pushing until we respond vigorously.  This week Paul Ryan gave the Department of Justice a deadline.  When they did not meet it he blinked and extended the deadline.  It is time to lower the hammer while it can still be done without violence.  The conservatives need to start using the courts and due process to bring the bullies into line.  We need to put the fear of the rule of law in their hearts.  We need to write it loud and long.  We need to not give up until they turn and run and then we need to make sure that they did not hide anything we missed.

The way we can guarantee violence is to keep giving in until we either have no other option or we lose our collective minds.  When you have crowds spitting on government officials have them arrested and file charges.  Such behavior is not allowed.  When a loud group surrounds a conservative as they are trying to watch a movie, call the police, file a complaint and make them hire the lawyers.  When a judge lets his personal prejudice overrule the law, impeach.

And vote the suckers out.  If it is Republicans who want to play nice, let them look for other jobs.

Opus 2018-117: Election 2018: Selective Shutdown

I was drawn to a post at the Daily Signal that turned out to be letters written in response to an earlier interview with Betsy DeVos.

Since she is Secretary of Education you can assume it had to do with education.  It was interesting enough in its own way but the comment I read in the first post about shutting down the Department of Education was what got my attention.  It was not mentioned in the interview.

It should have been.  Shutting down the Department of Education should be the focus of educational reform.  I am sure they mean well and think they can tweak the existing structure.  The power brokers in D.C. may have even thought of that years ago but there is something that happens when people become a part of the institution.  They forget that the institution is not the end but the means.  When it ceases to produce results it needs to be done away with and they are still trying to fix it.  Think of a field that has had corn or cotton planted year after year.  Every year the yield gets smaller until it is useless.  It is time to change the crops.  Maybe it is time to build condos.

These articles dealt with the Department of Education.  It is just one of many federal behemoths that have become useless tails looking for a dog to wag.  I think this could be an issue in the campaigns for 2018.  We don’t need reform that is incremental.  We need to fumigate.

If they can’t see the picture, vote the suckers out.

Opus 2018-067: Elections 2018: What Is Democrat for Rino?

I hate to say this but if I believed what I was reading I would have voted for the Democrat in the Pennsylvania special election.  What was there not to like?  He sounded conservative and traditional on the important issues:  Pro gun, pro life, anti-Pelosi.  He was a Dino, a Democrat in name only.  At least he sounded like one.  Time will tell how much of that was hot air and how much was genuine.

My hope is that the Democrats are swinging back to being Americans.  My fear is that they are just learning to lie better.

Opus 2018-063: Election 2018: Once in a Blue Moon?

My wife is listening to all kinds of conspiracy stuff on You Tube.  Without getting into a general discussion of all the things they are saying I wanted to look at the danger of listening to the guru’s of the world and repeating what they say without thinking about it.

I was told that the Democrats are on a roll and working hard to turn the nation around.  Texas is one of their primary targets.  I have headlines about this many places but don’t usually click on the link because it would take me to the NY Times, LA Times or Washington Post and we all know what propaganda machines they are.  I will still accept that general premise that the powers of the Democrat party are out spending money trying to brainwash people and win elections.

Which brings us to a specific example.  I was told that the Democrats had brought out one million more voters in this election and Ted Cruz had better wake up or he will lose the election.  I agree with the need to wake up.  That is like one of those statements, “Is it a good idea to stop beating your wife.”  Who can argue?  It was the one million that I had trouble with.  When I tried to reason with her she almost got violent that I would question her sources.  Actually, yes, I would question her sources.  I question my sources.  I even consider carefully the words of the Bible which I consider to be the word from God.  I want to understand not just find ammunition for my theories.

Let me explain my problem.  I voted.  We voted on the regular day and the first report of the day was posted on the door.  At that point I think it said 42 Republicans had voted and 8 Democrats.  It did not look like a landside for the Democrats at that point but one little snapshot does not an election make.  So I went to the official sites by the secretary of state.  It told me that the official, final, all votes counted number of Democrats who voted for the U.S. Senate was 1,037,779.  I did not major in math but I did learn my basics before the new math came in.  What this tells me is that for there to be 1,000,000 additional Democrat voters then there were only 37,779 in the whole state before this.  That is a pretty picture but not too realistic.  So I went back to the last general election where the Democrats had around 4 millions votes for the Senate, and still lost.  Again my math is controlled by my ability to think.  Somehow it seems to me that 4 million then and 1 million now does not add up to 1 million new voters.

Maybe I am missing something, but then again, maybe I am not.  We need to remember that the conspiracy theory people are a lot like the weatherman on TV.  He may be reporting what he sees but he is usually wrong in his predictions.  He also needs to get people excited enough about what he is saying to get them to keep watching the commercials that pay his salary.  Ignoring the weather man totally can cause a rained out picnic.  Ignore the Deep State Chicken Little and you might lose your freedom.

Always keep your thinking cap on, even if it is made of tin.

Opus 2018-061: Election 2018: Is Purple Blue or Red?

Is Texas blue or red?  It depends on where you live.  Like the rest of the country, cities tend to be very blue.  They are controlled by the Democrats.  I live outside San Antonio.  San Antonio is the big dog in Bexar (pronounced bear) County and the seventh largest city in the United States.  The election results of March 6 don’t give a breakdown of registration but has 86,313 votes cast by Democrats and 69,284 by Republicans.  Comal County next door does not have any large cities, thus fewer people.  The county site does not break things down the same so I will compare the totals voting in the Senate race.  The Democrats had 4,110 votes cast; the Republicans, 17,546.

Let’s do a little math.  The Democrat majority in Bexar county was 17,029.  The Republican Majority in Comal was 13,436.  In the two counties that gives the Democrats a majority of 3,593.  Notice that the total number of Republicans voting in Comal is less than the margin of victory in Bexar.

Let’s add another county without a large city, Guadalupe.  The Democrats cast 4,003 votes for U.S. Senator; the Republicans, 11, 645.  Some simple math again, the Republican margin of victory in Guadalupe county was 7,642.  If you put it together that means in the three counties the Republicans have a winning margin of 4,049.  Check my math.  Maybe I did something wrong.

I admit this in only three counties.  It is not the entire state.  I imagine if I did it across the state you would find the counties that include Dallas, Houston (forth largest city in the United States) and Austin would all be strongly Democrat and the surrounding counties strongly Republican.  The pattern we are facing is that large numbers of people are fleeing the hell-holes that their left wing politics have created and coming to a land of hope and change that has nothing to do with Obama.  The problem is, they want to bring their disastrous politic with them. 

I am not worried about this election.  I wish I could say the same for ten years from now as California, New York and Illinois continue to implode.

Opus 2018-044: Election 2018: A Good Start

People ask me, “Why Texas?”  My quick answer is, “Because it isn’t California.”  That of course is not a complete statement.  As I was going over the Republican ballot for the primary election in March I realized that the propositions on it were as good a reason to move to Texas as I have ever seen.  I don’t know if passing them will put them on the general election ballot or whether it is just a straw vote.  Either way, this is why I came to Texas

Here are the propositions, paraphrased, but not much:

1.  Replace property tax with consumption tax
2.  No toll roads without a vote
3.  Republican nominee for speaker of the house chosen with no Democrat input
4.  E-verify for new employees
5.  Allow school choice to include all options
6.  Bathroom privacy for women and children
7.  Abolish abortion
8.  Make vote fraud a felony
9.  Complete repeal of Obamacare
10. Tax revenue increases capped at 4%
11. No tax dollars for professional sport team arenas

This may only be a Republican dream but it is a totally different attitude from the go along/get along attitude of Republicans in California.

Opus 2018-032: Election 2018: Vote the Memo

I have read the memo.  I don’t consider it to be a blockbuster.  It is simply more evidence to prove that Hillary Clinton, the DNC and a collection of officials on the public payroll need to be visited by Lady Justice.  The level of deceit and malfeasance is so obvious that to deny it is like the king thinking his new clothes were stylish.  We are talking naked, pot-bellied, knock-kneed, wrinkly truth.  It ain’t pretty.  Something needs to be done about it.

I believe the president is willing to do something but he needs a team behind him. 

He needs a House of Representatives that is willing to step up to the plate and start due process in its slow motion wind up.  This is where impeachment starts, and I am not talking about the president.  I am talking about partisan judges.  I am talking about department heads and assistant department heads.  This is where the unelected agencies can be brought to heel.  If nothing else it can be done by the power of the purse.  Tell the employees of EPA that they can keep their jobs as long as they want but we will no longer pay their salaries, reimburse them for expenses or buy their supplies.  We will no longer pay for a/c or heat.  Stay as long as you want but we are changing the locks and you won’t get a new key.

We need a Senate that lives up to the reputation of being beyond knee jerk reaction and proves they are still capable of action.  We need judges confirmed and legislation from the house to be endorsed. 

Scooter Libby “lied” to an FBI agent and went to jail.  Michael Flynn “lied” to the FBI and was indicted.  Kristian Saucier took a few photos for private use and went to jail.  Richard Nixon lost a few minutes of tape and was hounded out of the White House.  At the same time James Comey admitted to passing secret information to a journalist.  Hillary Clinton has committed too many crimes to review on the 154 GB available on my computer.  It is time for the people of good faith to begin to enforce the laws as written.  They don’t need to go for vengeance or push the envelope.  Just enforce the law against the rich and powerful.

And it needs to start soon so that it will be a campaign issue in 2018.  It needs to be an issue in the primary elections.  There are incumbents that need to decide they need more time with their families.  There are committee chairs that need to return to private life.  There is a country to get back on course.

Vote the suckers out.  I like the sound of that.

Opus 2018-009: Election 2018: A Novel Idea

I wonder if we should suggest a new campaign promise:  I will keep my word.

One of the things you have to admit about Trump is that he is working to fulfill his campaign promises, and I don’t just mean the one to Make America Great Again.  I am talking about things like nominating judges who believe in the Constitution and not their DNC talking points.  How about moving the embassy to Jerusalem?  Then we have the destruction of ISIS.  Shall we go on?

In the face of those accomplishments, struggling against 90% negative media attacks and bogus polls, Donald Trump still has as high an approval rating as Barak Obama at this point in his presidency.  And the new year starts with more.

Just think what could happen in this country and the world if the politicians who are elected by talking like traditional Americans with conservative values would actually get into office and apply their promises.  Is there any end to the prosperity and success that people would experience?

It is worth a try.  What do we have to lose?  Well, our liberty for one thing if we don’t try it.

Opus 2017-409: Election 2018: On Spades and Not-Spades

I voted for Donald Trump with my eyes open and my nose held.  It is becoming one of those rare times when things work out better than you could have hoped.  A recent post of Power Line hits on a vital part of why that is true.  After commenting about how the media has been lying about Trump it says,

“But maybe that is too charitable. Maybe these reporters have been lying for a long time, and we finally have a Republican leader with enough guts to call them on it.”

Donald Trump seems to be the first Real Republican since Calvin Coolidge.  There is no problem with calling a spade a spade as long as it is a spade.

As we look to the future we need to see that we elect people to government who will support the direction that Trump wants to take the country.  The key will be the primaries.  That means that we need to work to unelect some RINOs sitting in positions of power.  I don’t care if they did get you a new bridge or a contract for your local manufacturer.  This is bigger than what is good for you.  It is about the future of America and the world. 

Elections matter.  Vote the RINOs out.

Opus 2017-360: Election 2018: Shaking off the Flakes

I love the spin that the media puts on events.  It seems that Senator Jeff Flake has smelled the roses and is withdrawing from reelection.  He probably watched what happened in Alabama and can tell that what he is smelling is not roses.  Arizona Central calls his announcement a “bombshell”.  Many of us would label it an answer to prayer. 

He tries to make it sound very noble with the comment,

"there may not be a place for a Republican like me in the current Republican climate or the current Republican Party."

It seems that at last the light has broken through.  You would think that this was a real sacrifice but it is simply political survival.  As the article says he has been “struggling in the polls”.  The reason for that is there is a true conservative running against him who will get on board with the president’s agenda instead of being a John McCain clone.

The media will spin this as a move toward the Republicans losing seats in the Senate.  My spin would be that this will insure that they will keep this seat.

Things are looking up.  It must be time for another scandal out of the DNC and MSM.
