I often wonder what all the hoopla is about Thanksgiving Day. I have a similar celebration almost every morning. The focus of my thanksgiving is how God uses so many hands to put my breakfast in front of me. My mind will rove back over the trail my oatmeal takes from Canada to my bowl and how the honey I put on it is collected from at least five countries. I ask God to bless the hands that have provided my bounty. Add to that the many faithful workers that produced the cheese and the bread that came all the way from Germany and I can go around the world without even thinking about missionaries.
We truely live in miraculous times. I thought of the farmer in Scotland on a tiny plot of land being thankful for his morning porridge which I think of as oatmeal. While I am grateful for a long supply chain, he is thankful that his harvest was good enough that his family is fed for the day. There are so many ways to be thankful.
While I am at it I thank God for the free enterprise system that gives me a choice of brands of oatmeal on a well stocked shelf as opposed to long line I will have to stand in just to see if they have any oatmeal today if the socialists get their way.
Every day is a day to celebrate God’s bounty. Pray that we continue to be salt so that the bounty continues.

Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship
This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.
Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.
