Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.

Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Opus 2026-464: Uncharted Revelation: Doom, Doom, and More Doom

In chapter 8 the final seal is opened and it contains seven angels with trumpets.

An eighth angels comes out with a censer.  Someone gives him a lot of incense to burn with the prayers of the saints under the altar.  Somehow the God who created the Milky Way is impressed by this fragrant smoke.  The angel then takes some fire from the altar and throws it to the earth, creating all kind of special effects.

The church through the ages has told me that Revelation is inspired scripture.  I accept that intellectually but my emotions are sensing something from a video game with Doom in the title.

Now we get to the trumpets.

The first trumpet wipes out a third of the earth, a third of the trees and all the grass.

The second trumpet destroys a third of the sea, sea creatures and ships..

The third trumpet causes a star named “Wormwood” to poison a third of the fresh water and a third of the ocean.  This causes men to die.  If you add the death and destruction from chapter 6 you are really starting to make life difficult.

Then the fourth trumpet does away with a third of the sun, moon and stars.  I am not sure how that is physically possible without ending it all.  The earth would spin out of its orbit and shoot off into space if a third of the sun disappeared.

Then the eagle warns us bad things are coming.  Is anyone left to hear that announcement?

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
