Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.

Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Opus 2026-460: On the Street: Expressions of Politeness

One of the meme statements that goes around has to do with how an armed society is a polite society.  I had an experience today that made me think it even crosses over into the paranormal.

As I walk, I try to be friendly.  I will wave at anything that moves and things that I recognize having once moved.  Almost universally I get a response and return recognition.  Today I decided to walk in innocence.  I went by a guy that I go by on a regular basis.

I saw the guy coming.  He had a small dumbbell in each hand.  He obviously was serious about this.  His dog, which is usually on a leash, was trailing behind him.  I waved.  He did not respond.  I waved again.  He stared straight ahead and ignored me . I watched him until we passed and not once did he glanced at me.

I’m assuming that somehow he sensed that he was not in the presence of an armed society.  Since he was not in the presence of an armed society, there was no reason to be polite.

Of course it could have just been he was in his nothing box and zoning out, listening to his podcast and concentrating on building a perpetual motion machine.  Such an explanation is probably the case, but it’s not near as much fun as speculating evil intent.

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
