Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.

Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Opus 2026-466: On the Street: The Uphill Advantage

The second person I spoke to today as I was out walking in the neighborhood was the lady who is sometimes a jogger.  I saw her walking down downhill as I labored up, and I commented that she should be jogging downhill because it would be easier.  Her response was something I had never thought about but was somewhat obvious when I heard it.  She said she would jog uphill instead of down because jogging uphill was easier on her knees.

I could see that.

Of course, my mind went into squirrel mode.  I thought if that’s true of jogging then it might also be true of walking.  How could I adjust my walking so that I only walked uphill and save my knees?  My inspiration was I could get some kind of a scooter or bicycle and coast to the bottom of the hill and then turn around and walk up.  It would be a lot of fun, but I’m not sure it would meet the need of exercise.  It wouldn’t be adding anything, only subtracting.

So what works for one person in their situation may not work for me or you in your situations.  Proceed with caution.  Be careful of the squirrels.  Sometimes following them just increases the supply of nuts.

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
