One of the great things about humor is it tells us we are not alone. It is so easy to get isolated in your situation and think you are the only one with rocks in your mattress. Then you turn on a comedian. Suddenly you realize you are not a freak unless most people are freaks. That is always a possibility but if everyone is a freak then what we would call normal is strange.
I am enjoying all the comedians sharing jokes about every day life. They mock just about everything and hit home more than I like. In the process I realize that everyone forgets a word now and then. Everyone misses a turn or spills a glass. It happens and by mocking everyday events they make us feel more human.
They mock us as men. Have you seen the marriage counselor who talks about the “Nothing box”? How about the couple in bed and she is wondering if he is thinking about other women and he is wondering how much ammunition is enough. I am not the only one who questions the need to make up a bed every day. The real problem is women who put the toilet seat down. I am not alone.
They mock marriage. In addition to that fact they are really funny it is shattering the illusion that I am the only one experiencing what it means to live with a woman. Have you seen the parody of the women with a nail in her forhead? I have her in my home. Are all husbands hard of hearing? It would seem so or else it is just the lack of ability to understand statements made from the other side of the house with a mouth full of crackers. Your choice.
People have different ideas of humor. I have never enjoyed the Three Stooges or I Love Lucy. George Burns, the Smothers Brothers and Bill Cosby before he took a stand on racial issues are more my cup of tea. If you can believe it, some people don’t appreciate my sense of humor.
I will keep seeking to be the one who laughs last.

Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship
This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.
Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.
