Opus 2015-198: Pardon Me, Do You Have Change?

It may be time to change my morning routine. 

Change for change’s sake is not wise.

(Proverbs 24:21 KJV)  My son, fear thou the LORD and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to change:

But that is not the same as being aware that change can be necessary.

We tend to get in ruts and start taking things for granted.  This can happen in a marriage relationship, in how you run a business, in how you eat, in how you teach a class or any other area of life.  When you get in the rut you stop engaging and go on automatic.  This is not necessarily tragic but you begin to miss the benefits of active participation.  Have you ever suddenly become aware that you are smelling roses.  In your case it might be the coffee, but you get the idea.  You realize what it means to wake up.  The fragrance was there, you just weren’t listening.  And yes, I know a mixed metaphor when I smell one.

This is happening in my morning worship.  I am beginning to tune out the sermons of Alistair Begg more often.  I am not focusing on the words of Proverbs as I read.  I tend to get thinking of other things. 

It is time for a change.  I don’t know what form it will take.
