Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.

Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Opus 2015-203: Headlines: Using the Courts

Good new is in the Washington Times headline, “Supreme Court strikes down Obama power-plant regulations” but if you read the article it is just another case of our socialist president and his cronies using the due process delays to get their way.

The court eventually said, “No” to the EPA, but the observers say it won’t make any difference.  The utilities have already complied.
“...the EPA seemed unfazed and said mercury and air toxics standards are, for all intents and purposes, still in effect despite the court’s ruling.”
Here is the way a coercive government works.  You pass a regulation and threaten dire legal consequences if the utilities don’t comply.  The utilities sue and ask the courts to stop implementation until the case is worked out.  The court refuses (probably liberal judges appointed by Democrats, elections matter).  The utility is forced to spend the money to make the changes and also spend the money to hire a legal team.  The government lawyers are paid with the tax money the utility pays.  By the time the obviously wrong regulations are overturned by a higher court, the money has been spent, the changes are too far along to change back and the cost is passed on to the consumers in their utility bills.

Why are utilities going up?  Why is gasoline still high?  Much of it is because of the obscene way in which the socialists in government work the system.  As Richard and Karen Carpenter used to sing, “It’s only just begun...”

It will continue until we become a third world country with a tiny ruling class living in luxury and the rest of us riding buses and standing in bread lines.  Or people can wake up and start to pay attention to how the people they elect are running the country.

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
