Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.

Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Opus 2015-151: Growing Up Is Hard to Do

The only reason I can function as an adult is because I was not allowed to go to the bathroom when I was in school.

Students today think that the way to avoid work is to leave class and “go to the bathroom”.  I have never done a serious study, but I bet you would find a strong correlation between students who do poorly in school and the frequency of bathroom breaks.  I don’t work in an office but from the cartoons I see the water cooler might fill the same niche in business life.  It is a place to go when you don’t want to produce.  It is a place to go that nominates you for the next RIF list.

Some students never have to leave class.  Some claim to need to go every day.  From what I hear the same students need to go every period.  I also see them pressing their faces repeatedly against the window in my door during the day.  We all know who they are.

As an adult I have been forced to plan my day and look ahead.  Part of that education was the second stage of potty training:  Not now and not here.  As I get older I use these lessons when I travel.  It is hard to find a bathroom on the drive from Barstow to Las Vegas.  It is rough to need the bathroom on an airplane when there is a long line and one closet.

Growing up is hard to do.

  1. I've noticed that water pills tend to make you appreciate all manners of bathrooms and note their locations.

  2. Water pills and age. Never tried the first. Can't avoid the second. As I might say, "Am there, doing that."

    Grace and peace.

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
