Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.

Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Opus 2020-068: Headlines: Ignore Them

Each morning I do a quick run through of sites that report the data from the “pandemic” we are experiencing.  Yes, people are dying.  It is clear that to those people and their families this is a major tragedy.  I am still not seeing anything to justify all the panic and loss of liberty.  I do not get too excited about headlines.  I am not looking at cases.  Cases depend on testing and how many people are sick enough to seek help.  The entire country could be 100% infected and it would not change the cases being reported.  Death you can quantify and it doesn’t measure up.

Don’t take my word for it.  In a Powerline article from March 25 after showing a simple graphic, we see a good short summary.
“The Diamond Princess experience–virtually a laboratory experiment–suggests that around 80% of the population is naturally immune to COVID-19, that half the people who get the disease will experience no symptoms, and that in an elderly population, something like 1% of those who contract the disease will die. So far I don’t see anything in the reported U.S. or global fatality numbers to contradict the Diamond Princess experience.”
Wash your hands and watch out for unicorns.

  1. I think it was all an excuse to give us our first taste of martial law, so they could give us a bigger bite NEXT time.

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
