Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.

Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Opus 2020-062: Not Lucky

I thought I would make some farewell comments while I have a chance.  I am feeling fine.  I am not planning on going anywhere.  I am totally not worried about the Chinavirus even if I am in the demographic that has the most deaths.  If I suddenly disappear from the internet it will either the black helicopters came to get me or I was totally wrong about the Chinavirus.  If the worst happens, I want you to know I went out smiling.

It has been a good run.  I am not lucky, I am blessed.  I have a wonderful family, a few really good friends and enough money to stay afloat.  I can even walk around the house and chase my granddaughter without much pain, if you discount the first few minutes of the morning when my old joints are protesting the new day.

What ties it all together is a trust in Jesus that means I have no fear of death.  It means that no matter how many failures I might think I have, I am still a child of the living God, created in His image.  It means that I can lose politically but I won’t live in fear or anger.  It really makes a difference when you can see that it takes more faith to believe in the accidental cause of the universe instead of the careful design of a Creator.

My plan is to keep writing but I have had a lot of plans that went down in smoke.  I will not be going down with them.  Bring it on, life or death are both options for the blessed.

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
