Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.

Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Opus 2020-047: Hope for Snowflakes

I had a ray of hope regarding the millennials and snowflakes.  There is a chance they may grow up.  I know it sounds impossible but being around toddlers, newborns and middle school students reminds me that they can grow up and learn to think.  It is an up hill slope but not a stone wall.

It is surprising how often you read the life story of conservative icons and find that in their youth they were either Marxists or close to it.  Thomas Sowell, David Horowitz, Clarence Thomas and Robert Bork come to mind.  In their desire for a perfect world they embraced the lie of the Progressive*.  Their minds were confused and uninformed but their hearts were right so they had an epiphany.

If radical Marxists can wake up then maybe the woke can.  Of course it is possible that they are not committed enough to anything to get past being sheep.  The great curse of the Sander’s generation is that they want everything for nothing but a willingness to commit a little violence.  Even there they assume they will be shielded from consequences by the media and Progressives* in positions of power.

As a Christian I have hope based on Jesus Christ.  That doesn’t mean that there will be no times of tribulation.  It does not mean the America is the promised land.  It does mean that I have read the book and I know how it all ends.

  1. I'm sure that you've heard the old saying, "If you're not a liberal in your youth, you have no heart. If you're not a conservative in your old age, you have no brain." I don't entirely buy it, but I understand it.

    1. Youth tends to think with their feelings. The hope is that their brain will catch up. In too many cases it is a vain hope.

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
