On meditating on the attribute to God and focusing on the Holy Spirit as the Paraclete, I look at the meaning. I think of the Greek word which has the idea of one who comes alongside to help. It’s translated as helper and counselor and comforter. I’m sure there are other applications. It has to do with the idea of possibly an attorney who is there to bail us out or to give us advice.
So how does that apply to me and my day-to-day life? The Holy Spirit is there to assist me to live in righteousness. In the process things change. I don’t think that God is going to change the entire universe just to make me happy or to make me fit in. There’s also a sense in which God is not going to do a Superman transformation on me. I’m not hustling into a phone booth to emerge in a total different costume to play a totally different role. The way in which it seems to work is that He gradually changes me by making small but radical adjustments.
My problem is I want a phone booth experience. I want radical overnight transformation. I’m an introvert. Sometimes it seems like life would be so much simpler if I were an extrovert. I don’t think God is going to make that transformation. I think what He’s going to do is teach me how to reach out, to come out of my shell, to have more confidence in my public appearances. He is going to gradually transform me.
So change is in the works. Growth is happening. But you will notice they have removed all of the bone booths that used to be on every corner. Consider that an example of how we should be growing spiritually.

Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship
This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.
Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
