As I was meditating this morning on God‘s attributes and focusing on His wrath, I found it very hard to stay focused. I know His wrath is real. I’ve read about the eventual pouring out of that wrath on Israel. Last night I attended last night the screen presentation of Noah. God’s wrath is something to be feared.
But I found it very hard to concentrate on this because I kept realizing that His wrath is interpreted through His love and his grace. God has every reason to be throwing lightning bolts, causing earthquakes, sending floods and hurricanes, and yet for the most part, those are fairly rare occurrences. I must concede that my experience has been more on the grace of God and His loving kindness than His wrath. I lay that as His feet based on His patience, not on my fine performance.
Which caused me to wonder about His attributes. Are they traits and inclinations or are they compulsions? I would have to say no to the compulsion. God is not a machine that responds when a button is pushed or a chemical reaction that begins to boil at a certain temperature. He is a living God. He is the great I AM. I struggle to find what word I would use because inclination and trait doesn’t seem to get it. I guess that’s why we have words like attribute.
If you have nothing else to rejoice in today rejoice in the fact that God‘s wrath is held in abeyance. It’s kept in reserve. It only comes out of the storage locker when it is absolutely necessary. Do your best to make sure that it does not become necessary in your life.

Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship
This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.
Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
