Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.

Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Opus 2015-216: Headlines: We Think We Have It Bad

My first question was, “What is a terrapin?”  My second question was, “Why does an entire nation put up with someone like Kim Jong-un?”  I thought the headline in The Telegraph had to be a joke, but it isn’t April 1.

It seems that the Korean King Pin was touring a plant established by his father to raise terrapin.  Because the socialist system could not deliver electricity or food they all died.  The answer of Communism is to shoot the plant manager.  Sounds like Socialism to me.

What is a terrapin?  It is a type of turtle.  I guess the Senior King Pin liked turtle soup or something.

Why do people put up with this kind of thing?  Why do “free” Americans put up with the leadership we have?  Thomas Jefferson put is so well in the Declaration of Independence,
“...all Experience hath shewn, that Mankind are more disposed to suffer, while Evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the Forms to which they are accustomed.”
I will grant you we are a few steps away from having plant managers shot for letting turtles die.  the questions are “How many steps?” and “Will we be alive to count them?”

Read the article and decide whether we should laugh or cry.

We think we have it bad.  I guess it is relative.

  1. North Korea is just a joke after joke kind of country. Hear the story about how Kim never takes a crap; apparently it's some sort of Korean magic. Quite frankly sounds more like BS though.

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
