I am not on a trail to evaluate the Contemporary English Version, (CEV). However as I do other research I come across things that give me a feel. Most of the time it is a sense of too much paraphrase going on. Take for instance this verse in the KJV,
(Exo 24:12 KJV) And the LORD said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law, and commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them.and compare it to the CEV,
(Exo 24:12 CEV) The LORD said to Moses, "Come up on the mountain and stay here for a while. I will give you the two flat stones on which I have written the laws that my people must obey."The two do not say the same thing. There are assumptions, deletions and additions. I was originally comparing the KJV with the NASB and finding the KJV more accurate in the details revealed in the Blue Letter Bible.
I also noticed that the CEV leaves out the fact that Moses will be meeting with God not just meditating on world peace.
Little stuff. Does it change any doctrine? No. It is still taking liberties that are not necessary.
