Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.

Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Opus 2021-192: Recommendations: According to Hoyt

I would like to recommend a site called According to Hoyt.  You don’t need to hurry.  It has been around awhile and will still be there tomorrow.

In fact, tomorrow might be a good time to check it out.  The main author, Sarah Hoyt, is a successful author.  I think most of her stuff is science fiction but I would not bet on it.  If you follow the click bait keep in mind that she has two types of posts.  One type, that I generally skip over, is what she calls “book promo” material.  If you are looking for suggestions to read, have at it.  The second type is made up of original material.  That is what I am finding worth reading.  So many blog sites do little but quote other people and rehash what everyone else is saying.  She does not go down that path.  She writes well, is a poor proof-reader and expresses ideas that resound with me.

Lately she has been encouraging.  She does not deny that things are going to get rough ahead but she has a lot of faith in the American people as a whole.  Recently a final comment was,

“Be not afraid. We got this. All we have to do to defeat them is be human beings.”
Feel free to check her out.  Feel free to ignore her.  I find that she puts out original essays about every other day.

    1. I think she is a generation younger than us but her mind seems to be working. I talked to Vincent about a month ago and he said to say "Hi". He keeps promising to post but he is more a Twitter beast.

  2. Happy to hear that all is well with Vincent...I have been permanently suspended from Twitter after posting a historical quote from Joseph Goebbels...LOL! So no more tweeting for me! Last week FB slapped me down after I wrote a post about the hazards of defunding police...So I think my days of Social Media are over as I'm to old to be censored anymore. One pleasant change in my small rural town is that we are all finally maskless....we all decided it is time to breathe once again!!

    1. I am jealous and Vincent would be proud. If it is any consolation, they would not have banned Goebbels for posting the same thing. And keep in mind that you are now in the rarefied atmosphere of Donald Trump.

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
