Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.

Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Opus 2020-222: New Terms: To Gretch

If you watch anything beside CNN and the rest of the Fake Media you have heard about the Police State that Gretchen Whitmer is setting up in Michigan.  She has used the fear of a virus as the grounds for shutting down her state.  She has company in California, Minnesota, New York and other blue states.  The power goes to their heads.

We need a new term to run with being Borked and being a Benedict Arnold.  We need it for people who use their power, be it oh so small, to mess with you.  We meet them all the time.  Often they are behind a counter at a government agency.  Sometimes they are employees of a company that can control your actions and access.  I have decided we need to admit that they were able to Gretch us.

What brought this to mind was our recent attempt to fly my daughter on her first leg of the trip to Japan.  She chose Alaska Airlines because they had non-stops to Seattle and they had a good reputation for customer service.  The guy behind the counter at the airport evidently did not get the memo.  We were not wearing masks and he was getting violent.  He was not manning a scale.  He was just walking back and forth messing with anyone who didn’t look respectful enough toward the virus or him.  I backed away until out of reach of his glowering radiation.  My wife smiled and said, “I have a medical condition.  I can’t wear a mask.”  My daughter, who was flying, pulled up the doily she had prepared.  At one point I thought he was going to come over the counter after us but I guess his leash wasn’t long enough.

We were Gretched.

There are still people out there who have not embraced the kool aid.  When she got to Seattle the hotel staff went many extra miles to help a woman traveling with two small children in the middle of the night.  It started with the manager having a quart of milk waiting for the children when she got there.  It continued when the guy driving the shuttle van moved all of her luggage up to the room.

So there is hope.  Some people still care about serving the public.  Rejoice and blessings if you have to travel.

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
