I have become the second string, the back up quarterback, the pinch hitter.
When my wife came home after being gone a few weeks the cat would have nothing to do with her. That lasted as long as it took the cat to realize that I was no longer the source of food. The cat disappeared from my room for days.
Now she is appearing again on occasion. When she does I can conclude that my wife is asleep or has left the house. It is a good thing I don’t care about cats that much or I might get my feelings hurt. As it is I know the cat has a need so I pet her when she gets in range.
We both seem to be able to live with that.

I laughed out loud when I read this! I love cats...I am what they call, a "cat person".....Unfortunately I don't share my life with any cats right now, but always have in the past.....Cat's are very strange and mysterious....I think that's why I love their company so much....LOL! Maybe one day in the future I will have a cat again....It's just that I hate stepping on those hairballs in the night.....:)
