Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.

Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Opus 2022-039: Thanks Thoughts: From the Children

In my prayer time I have a group of friends I lift up to the Lord.  In many cases that involves their children.  Some of them I have never seen.  Others I watched grow up.  This smaller group has so much to offer yet seem to be content with comfort and prosperity.  They are wonderful human beings.  You would love to live next to them.  They pay their bills, don’t litter or play loud music late at night.  I imagine they would gladly help a little old lady across the street.  But they are not making any difference.

My children have taken stands.  They are making a difference.  They have threatened to write me out of their wills if I talk about them in public so you will have to trust me.  It is possible that you would never notice what they are doing.  I like to think that the children of my friends are the same way, I just don’t see what they are doing.

If we want our country to survive we are going to need more people taking stands.  They don’t need to be splashy, just real.

There is hope for the future.

  1. Yeah, my kid is taking stands which I don't agree with. Don't know where she picked up the line of BS.

  2. As a former public school teacher I would say from the public schools.

As a graduate of a Christian college I would say from their pseudo-Christian professors.

As a seminary graduate and ten years a full time pastor I would say from the pulpits.

I know where it comes from. What I can't figure out is how the influence of so many parents has been set aside so easily. You are not alone.

Keep living as you should. Keep praying. It is really in God's hands and our children are given the ability and responsibility to make their own decisions.

At least she is still talking to you and coming home.

    Grace and peace

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
