Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.

Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Opus 2019-022: Headlines: Will the Real Plague Please Stand Up

We had the swine flu.

We had the flu from chickens.

We had the flu from tomatoes.

Romaine Lettuce was going to do us in.

And don’t forget HIV and ebola.

Now it is bats.

Eventually I expect to see a plague that will wipe out millions.  It has happened before and will probably happen again.  I also admit that the big earthquake will eventually hit California.  Some prophecies are easy to make.  The problem we face is timing.  When?

Is this the big one?  It is too soon to tell.  I think the indication that the sky is falling will be when millions of Chines fall dead in the streets, not when we have a couple of cases in Washington state.  Until then I will just assume that it is a special form of Fake News on the level of the weatherman.  Yes, we will have weather today.  Yes, people will get sick today.  That is not a reason to pass more laws and give the government more power.

Call me when it happens.

  1. If it comes it comes. If we die we die. The Lord will allow what He allows and we go to a better place. SOME of us.

    1. Some might call that mindless fatalism. I think a better description is trusting in Providence.

Of course if you are a Bible reader there are the OT admonitions to wash your hands.

      Grace and peace

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
