Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.

Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Opus 2019-032: Flea Market vs Supermarket

I want to thank Powerline for linking to a decent article on Politico about the sudden ending of the meeting between Trump and Kim.  I gave up on Politico soon after it opened because it began to sound more and more like another voice of the left.  And who needs another voice less?  The only reason I went to check it out was because Scott Johnson said it was written by his daughter.  It seemed well balanced which I am generally used on Powerline but not in Politico.

Most of the media tries to make everything Trump does a chance to show how superior they are instead of actually reporting what is happening.  One of the things I like about Trump is that he usually knows what he wants and has an idea of how to get it.  He does not generally get stampeded by the Fake News Network into melting down so they won’t say mean things about him.  He knows that no matter what he does, they will say mean things.  That is their role in life.

The key quote I read a couple of times is “Sometimes you need to just walk away.”  We, as Americans are used to shopping in stores where the price is displayed and that is the price.  You can ask if they have an AAA discount but even that is predetermined.  Trump understands that politics is more like a flea market, swap meet or Middle Eastern bazaar.  The prices are just there to be a starting point.  Part of the dance is to walk away.  Most of us are very uncomfortable with that.  Trump is in his element and we should be glad he is.

So the meeting ended early.  So, big deal.  Trump understands.  Kim understands.  The media is confused, but that is par for the course.  Tomorrow is another day and another deal.

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
