Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.

Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Opus 2019-029: The Party of Freedom

I have often felt like complaining about how the Republicans can’t stick together and get anything done.  The left tends to maintain discipline.  If the leadership decides the vote should be “no” then the rank and file vote “no”.  It doesn’t matter if it is right or wrong.  It doesn’t matter what they promised or campaigned on, party unity is a priority.  I was impressed and found myself wishing that conservatives working together was not like herding cats.

The recent choir directing by Nancy Pelosi at the State of the Union is making me rethink that a little.  As I watched people who claimed to be Americans sitting unresponsive to all the good news about what has been happening I got a little repulsed by party loyalty.  Maybe one of the strengths of the Republicans is that we have some people who insist on thinking for themselves.  Sure we have our share of elitists and kiss ups but we also have those who stand up for what is right.  It shows we are the party of freedom.

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
