“He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public Good.”Think of all the laws that need to be passed. Often they are introduced into congress by a legislator who is truly representing his constituents. Just as often the bill cannot even get a hearing from the leadership in the House or Senate. If it can get passed it is vetoed by the President. If it gets by the president, the Supreme Court puts on their imperial crowns and throws it out.
I realize that we all differ on what we think is vital and we are on opposite sides of many issues but our political leaders play politics by leaving things in committee so that they are not forced to take a public stand. Issues are rarely debated. Other times they use the procedures of the branch to make it possible to vote “yes” at one point and “no” at another so that they can tailor their mailings to say both.
It is amazing how often the same issues raise their ugly heads again and again. Elections matter. Maybe it is time to start thinking again about throwing the bums out. Of course, that is easy for me to say. I live in California.

I'm sure California doesn't want to throw the bums out, since they represent the average citizen so well. (Face it, Pumice, you ain't average!)
