Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.

Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Opus 2015-44: Maybe I Will Run for President

The kids at school occasionally ask me if I would run for president.  My answer is usually, “No.”  But Elizabeth Warren is saying the same thing.  Mitt Romney said it too, before he said he would, before he said he wouldn’t.

As I watch the example being set by Barak Obama I might need to change my position.  My reasons for thinking of running are not based on being able to do a better job as president.  Almost any child on “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader” could do a better job.  No, I am looking at the perks.

It is a rare day that I can find the time, money and an opening to play golf and all I am doing is teaching middle school and a Sunday school class.  Maybe if I was leader of the free world with  crisis on every corner I could play golf.  And picture it:  I would not need to worry about a tee time or slow players in front of me.  Awesome.  Who cares if “they” are shooting Jews in Europe, burning Muslims of a different sect in the Middle East, beheading Christians in Libya or murdering Christians in Nigeria.  “They” probably approve of playing golf.  I think they approve of playing golf most when it keeps the president of the United States from admitting that “they” are actually Muslims, not just people who can’t putt or get out of a sand trap.

On the other side there are all those fund raisers I would need to attend.  Maybe I could send my press secretary to those while I played golf.

I am waiting until next year to announce.

    1. Who in their right mind would want to be King of Kalifornia? Oh, I forgot. I teach middle school. I can't be in my right mind.

  3. You need to consider whom to surround yourself with that will give you good advice. Stuff like how important it is to set up a worldwide air quality program. Gotta keep your priorities straight, you know.

    1. So I could put Vincent in charge of the Department of Spelling, Gorges in the Department of Happy Thoughts, and Chipmunk as my Secretary of Spin.

It sounds like I am half way there.

    2. I'm only joining this cabinet of doom if you revoke that zero you gave on my test. Read my blog to understand.

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
