One of the scariest quotes that I know is, “People get the government they deserve.” It gets scarier as I get older because the longer I’m around my fellow human beings the more I recognize how susceptible they are to the abuse of immoral leadership. As I write, we are still a few days away from the midterm election. I have no idea how it’s going to go. One reason I moved to Texas was because I thought people here still believed in the American dream, and had sufficient cultural moral fiber, reinforced by Christian moral fiber, to at least stand up and be recognized. I hope that is true. We will get a clear taste to it in this election.
I don’t know about you, but where I am the choices are clear. We have people on one side, fallible human beings of course, running on a clear agenda of the rule of law and the moral fiber that God laid out for us. On the other side, bringing a new meaning to the concept of fallen human beings, are people who want to destroy everything that made this country great. It’s not what they say, but it’s what they’ve been doing for the past forever. They want to open the borders again. They want to continue using the courts for law fair. They have openly shared their goal of using the justice department to attack anyone who voted on the other side. They want to advance the cause and methods of the homosexual community. They want to increase funding from mutilating children with sex-change operations. They want to increase welfare and thus increase taxes and runaway inflation.
The choice is pretty clear. All the facts are out there. The question is do the majority of American people deserve the disappearing of their liberty and advancement into socialist poverty or will they hold the line and continue to try to advance this miracle that used to be called the United States of America.
The jury is still out. A hung jury won’t be enough. The enemies of liberty and Christianity are not going to go away into the night and change their behavior. Well, they may change their behavior, but they won’t change their goals. Another quote that someone proclaimed, I think one of the founding fathers, “Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.” I think most Americans would rather watch football and swap lies at the bar.
Prove me wrong.

Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship
This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.
Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.
