Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.

Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Opus 2021-165: I Perform a Miracle

Last Sunday morning I noticed that my phone was down to 20%.  Time to recharge.  I pushed my charger in but did not hear the little beep that tells me I have connected.  I did the usual trouble shooting:  Tried another cable, plugged them in to other devices, looked to see if there was a bug in the aperture.  I could see nothing and nothing seemed to work.

So I did a search and found a podcast that dealt with the problem.  They gave me a few ideas but that didn’t work either.  Finally I turned on a flashlight and compared the two devices I had.  One worked the other didn’t.  I could see a definite difference, something was at the bottom of the one that didn’t work.  I needed to dig it out, but what to use.  The podcast advised against metal.  That makes sense.  They said a toothpick would break.  It did.  They suggested a toothbrush.  It didn’t help.  What to use?  Finally I realized that my flossers had a plastic point and that did the trick.  I dug out a small piece of the case that had broken off and fit in the hole perfectly.

Success.  I fixed my phone.

Understand that I am very good at theory but useless in application.  I can explain to you how a gasoline engine works but don’t expect me to fix it.  For you this would be an everyday event.  For me it was a major adventure.

  1. Those of us who absolutely love to fix stuff, and experience real joy when we help others to learn to fix stuff, have to realize that we won't be doing anything like that in Heaven. That's because everything in Heaven will work the way it's designed to forever. We'll just have to find our joy somewhere else, like, perhaps, in the face of Jesus.

    1. I have had a few glimmers of what that will be like but they are so inadequate.

I would not put it past God though to have some fun with you and put you next to me so you can repair the things I break to give you something to do.

      Grace and peace

  2. Not everyday for me, either. Even though Dad could repair engines, he didn't and never taught me. He said he'd learned years ago that he was better off doing what HE did to make a living and to pay the OTHER guy to do the same.

    1. That is what I do now but there have been times in my life when I didn't have the money to pay anyone to do anything. When I lost some weight I had some pants taken in and came to the conclusion that shopping at yard sales was a lot cheaper.

      Grace and peace.

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
