Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.

Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Opus 2021-039: Edmund or End Times

We are living in the interesting times of the Chinese proverb.  We are hearing predictions of the end of life as we know it.  We are told that the new regime in Washington will take away all of our liberties and lock us up in prison camps.  It is certainly their intention.  We don’t know how successful they will be.  Others seem to think that we have been through this before.  The attempts to lock up Americans that Woodrow Wilson tried were before my time.  We know some of the power plays of FDR.  We lived with Obama for eight years.  We lived to tell about it.  Which will it be?  It is TEOTWAWKI or just another bump in the road?  I can live with either.

If the Biden/Harris/Soros/China team fall on their faces then we can all breathe easier.  If the UniParty finds a few people with morals and backbones they might stop all the nonsense over night.  Sometimes it only takes one backbone.  The talking heads keep referring to the impeachment of Andrew Johnson and how it failed in the senate.  What they don’t point out is that if failed by one vote and the guy who stood up to the pressure, Edmund Ross, ruined his future in politics.  At least that is what I remember reading in a book under John F. Kennedy’s name called Profiles in Courage.  We might recover if we can find an Edmund Ross.

On the other hand it could be the Hitler moment.  It could be that the Progressives* in power, who have no concerns except their own power, will be successful in banishing all dissenting voices from the public square and make Americans cower down in fear.  It is clear that they are trying to do this.  The crony capitalists of the social media are silencing anyone who expresses an opinion they don’t like.  The Democrats in congress are calling for the expulsion of any elected official who was supportive of President Trump.  The National Guard troops called to Washington D.C. are being harassed by the FBI.  If that is our future then I will not look forward to it but I understand it in spiritual terms.

If you are a believer you need to understand that persecution is guaranteed.  We have lived in a nice, happy bubble for about 200 years.  Followers of Christ were among the unwashed masses that fled to the United States to avoid persecution at home.  Now, as the people fleeing blue states bring their dye with them, the persecution is coming to a town near you.  In that we can rejoice.  From the God’s eye view it will probably be a way of trying to wake people up to the call of God on their lives.  One of the sad truths about the human condition is that most people only learn through pain.  How much pain depends on how stubborn they are.

If you look at the condition of America you would wonder why God has held His hand back so long.  Abortion, pornography, trafficking in children, multiple varieties of the homosexual agenda, devil worship and much more are common in our country.  The only people that you can really mock are white Christians, preferably men.

I wait to see how it works out.  I don’t want persecution but I can see both sides of the coin.

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
