Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.

Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Opus 2021-025: Rumors of My Death...

I think we need to seriously consider statements about the “death of the republic” like the headline at Gun Free Zone declares.  While things are serious, I don’t think it is the death as much as it is a diabetic coma induced by refusing to face reality.  Diabetes is a physical problem that effects millions of Americans.  Type 1, or childhood onset diabetes, is something you are born with.  The stricken are totally without guilt and if they do not get insulin, they will die.  Some are temporary.  Pregnant women can get a type.  However, for many people it is a result of behavior and if caught early enough can usually be held at bay with behavior.

Our republic is under attack by the dedicated disciples of communism.  It is possible that some of the people involved in the attack are simply dupes who think they are smarter than the average bear.  I call the group as a whole Progressives*.  At the core, though, is a well trained cadre of expert revolutionaries.  If they are dealt with then the republic will have a good chance of recovery.  If you have type 2 diabetes then the chances of living with it are good.

What do we do?  Change our behavior.  As Americans we can no longer take politicians at face value.  We must carefully watch how they vote, not just listen at election time.  This is doubly true when it comes to state judges, most of whom must stand for reelection.  We must take the time to go to city council meetings and seek out positions on library boards.  Have you ever considered the books that are being purchased with your tax money?  And what about school boards?  These are the quiet places where our culture has been undermined and is being destroyed.

Christians?  Get serious about your faith and commit yourself to living out an upright life in the public square.  Stop hiding your light under a bushel and start pushing it.  Get over the lie about the separation of church and state.  Attend church meetings and demand that the church maintain Biblical values.  Remove people who are working to support satanic standards.

Pagan?  America has made room for you.  You came here to get away from the culture that your paganism had molded.  Don’t try to remake this country into a copy of what you left.  If it was so good there, why did you leave?  Religion makes a difference in how a culture works.  Christian Americans need to be aware there are a lot of pagans that don’t reject your values.  We need to find ways to work together on things we can agree about.  Believe it or not, that is most of what we hold dear:  Family, the rule of law, the right to defend your home.

The republic is not dead, yet.  It is sick to the point that it needs special care.  It is still up to us.

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
