Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.

Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Opus 2021-011: It’s Not Baseball

I feel betrayed.  The betrayal was not by President Trump.  He is still at the top of my list for leadership.  It isn’t even all the obvious Rinos in congress.  Mitch McConnell is just continuing to be Mitch.  Lindsey Graham continues to be Lindsey.  I expect them to let the country down when their person fiefs were threatened.  The betrayal is from two guys I worked to get reelected:  John Cornyn and Chip Roy.

They have done a lot of positive things in voting.  I will concede that.  They claim to be solid conservatives, yet when the moment of truth came, they were AWOL.  It turns out there were only six senators who had the courage to stand up for honest elections and truth.  John Cornyn was not one of them.  Neither was Chip Roy in the House of Representatives.

I did not expect the objections to be honored.  I knew it was a losing cause.  What I was hoping for was the knowledge that the people who represented me at least wanted to stop the steal.  In a sense I got what I really needed and that is a list of who understands the stakes and who is just playing along.

Last election I spent three afternoons a week volunteering at our county Republican headquarters.  I encouraged people to vote for Trump, Cornyn and Roy.  Trump has always followed through on his pledges.  I guess one out of three is something.  It would be if it was my batting average.  Not so much in issues involving liberty.

I wish they had spent a little more time thinking about Franklin’s answer to what kind of country we would have, “A republic, if you can keep it.”  The keeping is in doubt at this point.

    1. We are in a situation where liberty looses no matter what happens. It was a good run.

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
