Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.

Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Opus 2017-419: Headlines: People in Glass Houses...

I am guessing that the city council of Philadelphia was elected by the same voters that came out for the last presidential election.  You know the one, the election where more people voted than were eligible to vote.  Take a look at this headline and scratch your head.  This one is from Fox News.

It seems that the city council is doing away with safety glass in some shops.  According to the headline this is causing “outrage”.  We see this time and again in areas heavy with Democrats.  The people elected do the opposite of what the voters want.  So to show their anger the voters reelect them.  Makes sense to me.

It adds fuel to the statement that people get the kind of government they deserve.

The article revealed a typical refusal of Democrats to enforce the law.  Evidently there are places that have licenses to operate as restaurants.  Part of the requirement is to have a certain amount of seating and to sell food.  A lot a joints seal off the seating and turn off the kitchen and simply sell booze through the little windows in the bullet proof glass.  They are clearly in violation of the business license.  That should be easy to correct but instead of enforcing the code as written, they write some more code.

And they will probably be reelected.

Let me share my political wisdom with the voters of Philadelphia:  Vote the suckers out.  And while you are at it, clean up your voter roles and make your elections honest.

  1. But Pumice, graft is what what makes the world go 'round! If they enforced the law, the kickbacks would stop!

    1. Maybe it isn't so much that I want to do away with them as get my share.

      Grace and peace.

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
