Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.

Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Opus 2014-123: Ode to Old: Priorities

Does time go faster when you get old?  It sure seems like it.

What does it mean when someone says, “I don’t have time”?  We all have the same amount of time in our day.  The question is, how are we going to spend it.  Not having time means that there are other things that are more important.  That doesn’t mean that the activity skipped is not important, just less important.

Blog, nurse, nap, study?

My family is going through dealing with serious surgery.  I seem to be the healthiest so I am called on to do various nursing activities and display patience and kindness that I have never known before.  It does not come naturally to me.  It takes a lot of time and energy.  Does that mean that I don’t have time to write for my blog?  No.  It just means that often a nap is more important to my well-being.  I find I don’t have time to check out all the interesting sites either.  Tomorrow is another day.  Sometimes time flies when you aren’t having fun.

Maybe time flies because old people have less energy and take more naps.

When people waste my time I remind them that I am getting old and don’t have time to spare.  They usually don’t seem impressed but it is true.

  1. Be sure and take care of yourself while you're taking care of others. We won't abandon you if you need a few naps. ;-)

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
