Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.

Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Opus 2014-22: Headlines: Coercion Is Alive and Well

The attempt to stifle dissent is alive and well.

I could not sleep so I rose early, made some coffee and began my morning.  Since I had more time than usual I checked the Drudge report and found that Dinesh D’Souza is being arrested for a campaign donation violation back in 2012.  You can find the entire article at the Hollywood Reporter website.

Are people usually arrested for this kind of thing?  Is there any correlation with the fact that D’Souza produced a documentary about Barak Obama called “2016:  Obama’s America” and that its point of view might be considered less than favorable?  Is this coercion and harassment by the government?  Keep in mind that this is the same government that sent the IRS after conservatives and the NSA against everyone.

This administration is out of control.

Impeachment anyone?

  1. Amen. And they all will be from now on, IF there are any more.

  2. Yes, this is an administration out of control. The former Virginia governor and his wife were indicted this week, not by our state, but by the feds. Payback for a lack of general cooperation ? Probably.

    1. Are there no people of integrity and/or backbone left in congress? I continue to worry about getting the government we deserve. Our pastor has been preaching about how God kept calling His people to return to Him. It might help if the church sought to be salt.

      Grace and peace.

  3. i don't understand where the wicked find so many willing to help them.
what about the forest rangers who behaved so execrably by roughing up park users? what about irs agents who did the bidding of the evil?
if the wicked found no cooperation they would be exposed and expurgated.
what is wrong with the rest of us?
evil is not new but this nationwide spinelessness seems to be much greater than before.
    am i wrong?

    1. No, Deborah, evil is not new. What is new is the New Age philosophy that denies the existence of evil. When the lead characters in fiction break all the Ten Commandments and the TV shows depict depraved people seeking gratification, evil become more common.

  5. Our wicked leaders were elected by a wicked populace, many of whom have their hands in the till.

    1. Ain't that the truth. I keep thinking of Romney's 47% and I still believe it was too low. We have been trained to turn to the government and have them Robin Hood others to provide our needs. That includes those of us who want tax deductions for mortgage interest and us seniors who think we deserve subsidized health care.

      Grace and peace.

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
