Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.

Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Opus 2017-426: A Final Note

What a difference a year can make.

One year ago we had a new president elect and even those of us who voted for him did not know what to expect.  We knew the alternative was disaster but had serious doubts about the choice the country made.  Even the true believers would have had a hard time expecting the kind of changes we see.  Consider the courts, and smile.  Consider ISIS, not ISIL, and how it has been decimated in a few short months.  Maybe this was what Obama meant when he called them “junior varsity,” or maybe he was talking about his administration.  Consider regulations and breathe easier.

What a difference a year can make.

One year ago I was still an inmate in the People’s Republik of Kalifornia.  I was hoping I could finish my teaching career without anything blowing up in my face.  My wife was looking for the perfect place in Texas.  We had sold our home and were living in an apartment.  We knew about earthquakes but not hurricanes.

What will be the difference a year from now?

Stay tuned.

  1. At least you can partially defend against hurricanes; earthquakes - a bit less. Settling on high ground was a good start. May you and yours have a blessed new year.

    1. We are definitely on the high ground, physically and morally. Have a great year.

      Grace and peace.

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
