Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.

Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Opus 2023-012: What You Don’t Know...

I had a decision to make.  I could either go to dinner with a group of fellow seniors or I could go to dinner with my grandchildren.  It was pretty simple.  I decided on tickles, giggles and hugs as opposed to “What’s the word?”, “What did he say?”  and “What was his name?”

Enter the squirrel or, if you prefer, the tangent.  I realized that if I had never had grandchildren I would not know what I was missing.  I have some friends like that.  They know they are missing something and would have liked to find out wha,t but their children did not cooperate.  I think it may be one of the ways that God protects us and keeps us within reaching distance of sanity.

Squirrel.  What about ice cream?  I am guessing that there are people somewhere in the world who have never tasted ice cream.  They might not have even heard about it.  Ice cream is not like sushi or coffee.  I have never met anyone who does not like ice cream.  One taste and you are hooked.  Most of us with weight issues would have been better off if we had never tasted this frozen elixir.  Perhaps in the interests of promoting world wide wellness we should make ice cream illegal in the third world.

Semi-squirrel.  Not a genuine squirrel because I am on a roll.  Air Conditioning.  How did we ever get along without it?  I did not have it as a kid.  I can remember being hot but not thinking that much of it.  A/C in the car?  Are you crazy?  What do you think windows are for?  I even had a 54 Chevy that did not even come with a heater as standard equipment.  We have become a nation of whoosies.

I sometimes wonder what else I am missing out on.

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
