Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.

Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Opus 2016-97: Wise Guy

I was asked the question again.  “Why do you know so much?”  I point out that I don’t know so much, it is just in comparison to them it seems that way.  And of course I give the same reasons why I know as much as I do.

I listen.

I read.

I think.

All three of these are foreign concepts to middle school children.  Unfortunately they are also illegal aliens to the minds of must adults I meet.

    1. I assume you are talking about them, not me.

  2. I have always seen the job of teachers as one of teaching others HOW to learn and think (as opposed to WHAT to think). Keep on being a good example, and maybe some of them will catch on.

    1. There is even danger in the teaching how to think. The new Common Core Curriculum is all about how but is based on conformity and group think rather than individual work.

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
