Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.

Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Opus 2024-109: Conversations

Recently at church we sang the song that talks about God walking in the garden with us.

“And He walks with me and He talks with me...”
From that, I think we get the idea that when God came to the garden of Eden He would walk with Adam and Eve, and have these exciting conversations.  On contemplating that scenario, I don’t think that God really could get too excited about having a conversation with a being who lived in a garden, never had to work and did not even know the word “philosophy”.

I would have never considered having a meaningful conversation with my newborn granddaughter.  That does not mean I did not delight in her company or rejoice in the communication that did take place.  That is probably a better example, even today, of what a conversation with God is like.  I don’t think He is impressed with our wisdom or insight.  I remember when I would start chasing my granddaughter around the couch and as she squealed and giggled I would let her gradually lap me until she caught me.  I would then turn around and the chase would go the other way.  Somehow I think God enjoys the chase because we are special in His eyes.

I also don’t think it stops there.  As we mature we learn and grow.  We get more complex and discerning.  We will never be on His level.  We will never approach His level but He enjoys watching us grow and develop beyond what we were.

Enjoy the journey.  God will.

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
