Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.

Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Opus 2023-324: Lack of Tastes Differ

We talk about comparing apples to apples and oranges oranges.  We need to take this another step and instead say Galas to Jonathans or Valencias to Navels.  You may not be into fruit but there is a world of difference between a Red Delicious and a Pink lady.  Some apples are for chomping.  Some apples are for cooking.  Some are good for little but cider or applesauce.  And even then it might be different if it’s an early crop or late crop or even different orchards.

Life is complex.  People and situations have many nuances.  We need to contribute the effort it takes to understand and discern.  I am noticing this when it comes to health and medical conditions.  What works for one person may not work on another.  If we are looking for simple and quick then we often end up with useless and side effects.

Have you ever wondered why all grocery stores seem to have red delicious and gala apples?  Because they are easy to produce and are good enough for the vast middle who have someone else packing and paying for their lunch.  Have you ever wondered why we still have people voting for Democrats?  Same answer.

May your mental taste buds be discerning.

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
