Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.

Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Opus 2021-257: Still Searching for the Lost Ark?

I always enjoyed the Indiana Jones movies.  I started with Raiders of the Lost Ark.  It was a lot of fun but recently as I was reading through I Samuel in the Bible I realized that he could have taken a short cut.

Check out I Samuel 5.  The Israelites had gone superstitious.  They were losing battles and felt like if they could take the Ark out with them they would win.  It didn’t work out that way.  The Philistines captured the Ark and took it with them as war booty.  That didn’t work out too well either.  Every pagan city that took the Ark suffered.  The local god got knocked over and when it were set back up lost head and hands.  The local residents were infested with tumors.

So my suggestion for Indiana Jones would have been if he wanted to find the lost ark then all he needed to do is look at the most miserable place in the world.  It will probably be in some basement.  If you find it make sure you don’t open it.  Remember what happened in the movie.  I hear God has much better special effects that Hollywood.

  1. There was a time for it, but that time isn't now.

    1. How can they rebuild the temple and bring on the end times without the ark?

      Grace and peace

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
