Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.

Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Opus 2021-064: The Emperor Needs a Fool

Humor is dangerous.  You may have noticed that it has disappeared.  The only people who get to laugh are the elites in their gated mansions as they talk about the deplorables they are grinding down.

The Progressives* take themselves seriously.  They don’t see how ridiculous they are and because they control the Fake News and educated the people who consume it, no one else can see it either.  Historically rulers used to have a court fool.  His job was to mock the monarch and help him to see his own weakness.  I am sure that it was a dangerous position to be in but it was a job.  I miss them.

When I was a kid I was an avid reader of Mad Magazine.  It was one of the few things I managed to get the money together for every month.  It was full of absurd situations and extreme exaggeration.  I knew it.  It was called satire.

Satire has become anathema because it pokes fun at the ruling juntas of America.  That can not be allowed.  Thus when you bring up any reference to the idiotic predictions of climate disaster that have been made repeatedly over the years, you are silenced.  You are labeled a science denier.  You are punished.  When you point out that socialism has been tried repeatedly over the years and unless subsidized by a powerful capitalist economy like northern Europe’s it has lead to genocide like killings, extreme poverty and starvation.  They move the goal posts and say that it was not “real” socialism.  It will work this time.  As Lucy said, “Come on, Charlie Brown, this time I won’t pull the ball away.”

We used to watch Johnny Carson on the Tonight Show as he poked humor at just about everyone.  Politicians were not immune.  When he pointed out the silly foibles that I was guilty of, I could laugh.  He would also roast the left.  It was all good fun.  It made us think.  It kept us from getting full of ourselves.  It was healthy.

Now humor is viewed as dangerous.  You might hurt someone’s feelings.  You might invade their safe space.  Worst of all, you might make them think.  You are a pariah.

Just kidding.

  1. Mockery is a powerful tool, so they can't allow it.

    1. That is the reason for pushing "trigger warnings" and "safe spaces".

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
