Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

Welcome to Varied Expressions of Worship

This blog will be written from an orthodox Christian point of view. There may be some topic that is out of bounds, but at present I don't know what it will be. Politics is a part of life. Theology and philosophy are disciplines that we all participate in even if we don't think so. The Bible has a lot to say about economics. How about self defense? Is war ethical? Think of all the things that someone tells you we should not touch and let's give it a try. Everything that is a part of life should be an expression of worship.

Keep it courteous and be kind to those less blessed than you, but by all means don't worry about agreeing. We learn more when we get backed into a corner.

Opus 2020-100: Headlines: Watch Out for the Christian Zionists

You really need to be careful what you read and keep your mind turned on.  In my search for news I have book marked a number of sites that might give news without the filter of the American MSM.  One of those was the English version of the Korea Times.  I have read a few articles and felt they were a source to consider.  That changed today.  I am getting tired of the constant hype of the Chinavirus so I thought I would see what the Korea Times thought was interesting.  It all looked pretty standard until I saw a headline, “above the fold” as they say, along the right side that announced,
“Rise of Christian Zionists in US government and collapse of chain of command”
That got my attention.  My wife is into conspiracy videos and has been known to express anger at the “Zionists”.  She has no awareness of the history of the term.  All she knows is what her guru has told her, filtered through falling asleep halfway through the video.  I don’t remember her using the term “Christian Zionist”.  I started reading.

I did not get far before I started wandering what the author had been smoking.  It was a fascinating bit of left wing propaganda.  To be honest I could not read it but I did skim a little bit.  One paragraph I read that gave me some insight into the philosophy of the author.

“This system worked well, and it allowed for the ideas of freedom that were proposed in the constitution at the founding of the republic to be reinterpreted so as to apply to all citizens. This ideology of the "New Deal" promoted by Franklin Roosevelt survived in a modified form until the election of George W. Bush in 2000. But it had already been weakened considerably at that time.”

He is praising the Progressive/socialist programs that FDR foisted on the American people.  Notice that it was FDR who forced the reinterpretation of the Constitution to apply to us common people.  And then there is the implied back-hand at Ronald Regan who had already “weakened considerably” the efforts of the Progressives.

I also noticed mention of how the military was murdering black officers who showed too much promise.  At that point I had consumed all I could take.

I consider myself a Christian and I am very supportive of Israel.  I have never run into these Christian Zionists that are working hand in hand with the uber rich to control our country and make lots of money.

What these people never explain is where these rich people are supposed to spend there money if they destroy the economy.

Maybe I will look somewhere else besides the Korea Times.

  1. I am an 83 y.o. Christian woman with a much younger legal immigrant friend. She and her husband have a home based church. They are clearly Christian Zionists. My friend is politically naïve and I avoid all political subjects. I worry that she has such faith in God that she does not believe in any type of preparedness since "God will take care of us". At least we pray to the same God. Julia

    1. I am doubtful that your friend would mean the same thing by "Christian Zionist" that the article was attacking. Most Bible believing Christians do not hate Jews. They feel that God still has a concern for Israel and they take seriously the verses that express punishment for those who attack Jerusalem. The article spoke of Christian Zionists in the sense of being part of a world wide conspiracy with Jewish bankers plotting to set up a one world government.

I wash my hands but I have more confidence in God to take care of me than the government.

Thanks for the response. Keep loving your friend.

  2. It seems you can't really trust anyone anymore.

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
